In April, I emailed the clinic to ask a simple question: Did you knowingly sign this pledge? I hadn't yet seen their reply when I called today about a sudden concern with my dog. I was transferred, and the phone was answered: "This is Amber, where do you want your records sent?" I was caught off guard -- I hadn't even mentioned changing providers. I clarified that I was calling about my dog, and Amber replied, "You were sent an email." Still confused (as it had been three months since I reached out), I said I wasn't sure what she was referring to. Then it clicked. I said, "Oh -- is this about the PublicSquare listing? I haven't read the email yet, so are you confirming you knowingly agreed to that pledge?" Amber did not confirm. Instead, she said I had "made accusations" and that "we're not a good fit." She refused to answer whether or not they signed the values pledge. I later read the email, which included this line: "It's none of your damn business." Let's be clear: I never said I was cutting ties -- they made that decision for me without discussion. They refused to clarify or deny their involvement in the platform. They responded to a respectful question with hostility, deflection, and zero concern for my pet. If you value inclusion, transparency, and basic professionalism -- take your business elsewhere. Because it's clear: they've already decided who they do and don't want as clients.

Nothing but problems with this place…read more My first incident with this place was when my dog had to go to the animal hospital in Kalamazoo and have surgery on his paw. I was supposed to go into my regular vet (the VCA Marshall) every week to get it re-wrapped and the splint repositioned. Every single time I did this, I had to go to the animal hospital in Kalamazoo within hours, because the VCA vet had positioned it incorrectly and caused my pup severe discomfort. Even after talking to the surgeon from the actual animal hospital over the phone to make sure he got it correctly, he still was incompetent. My most recent interaction was that my dog had surgery at the VCA vet and while I was at work, the vet called I was unable to leave the meeting in time to answer the call. I called back to the reception and she put me on hold. After waiting for so long, I called back and was then put on hold again. Finally someone answered the phone and could not tell me who called, the status of his surgery, or when I could come pick him up. I was very frustrated and told the receptionist that they were wasting my time by putting me on hold multiple times, and not having any information. Common sense would have been to see which vet was performing the surgery and see if they were out of surgery. In my opinion, that is common sense. So I was then told that they had no information and that they would call me back as soon as they found out. I did not ever receive a call. Three hours later I showed up to pick up my dog and he was not ready so I had to wait another hour to pick him up. The vet did leave a message. However, I explained to the receptionist that I was in a meeting and I did not get very good service. Therefore, I did not have a voicemail come through at this point. In the voicemail, the vet said to call the reception and have them send my call to him to talk to me. How is this possible when they have no idea what was going on? When I went in days later to get my dogs, tail re-bandaged, the vet decided he was going to argue with me about what had happened. I then told him that I will not argue about the situation. Because I have had such a horrible interactions with every single one of these people I am at my breaking point, and I will not ever take my animals to this vet again. Even the vet at the animal hospital said the VCA is incompetent and has no clue what they are doing and told me not to go back. I should have listened. I would also like to add that had the vet at the VCA (Dr. Randy) not argued with me about the situation I would not be writing this review. But because he decided he was going to argue with me I decided I had to. Don't ever argue with a customer after they've had a bad experience. Especially in a situation where you said yourself "I wasn't there so I don't know".

I had also gone to another vet in the past and tried 6 different meds over a period of 6 months for a very bad ear infection in my dog, which just continued to get worse. I told Dr. Gaide if he can't cure it then no one can. He made a special formula of meds and within a month the ear was better. If your dog is healthy you can go to any vet, but if there are problems, Dr. Gaide is your vet.

Before I could finish explaining, the staff member hung up on me. I truly hope the staff improves its communication, professionalism, and respect for patients and their time.
