Dogology is amazing. We have had two sessions in our home with Mike, and he has helped significantly with our rescue dog, Leia. The first time Mike came, Leia refused to go outside with my fiancé. She refused to go potty with anyone besides me. She was terrified of everything. She growled at things she didn't understand and had some really obnoxious habits. Before he left that first day, we had her going outside with my fiancé. He explained the concept of how to hold the leash to us. He helped us understand how some of the things we thought we were doing to correct her behavior was actually probably reenforcing it. Since he was here that first time, she's come out of her shell so much more than she had before. She's acting more like a dog and I know we have Mike to thank for that. Although seemingly expensive, it's worth every penny. This week he showed us how to do down/stay and helped us understand how to help her with getting in the car and being comfortable. All around, we're so grateful to have him on this journey with us. read more

Went for the training package,went to 3 and never went for fourth.At 250/ hrs you can get a real trainer and accomplish something.

They need to up their game with the puppy classes. You don't work with the puppies that much during the class. They talk to you about dog psychology which is important, but they could give you that in a handout or website reference. (They don't give you any materials or outside resources. They said they would give me info. in person, and to text them, but they never texted me back.) You bring up a basic subject like having the dog come to you readily and we were told, "oh, didn't we discuss that". (It was the last class.) Also, if you miss a class (bc of your own stupidity), you can't make it up. BTW: I've never written a negative review bf in my life. read more

Started puppy training with my puppy and was encouraged to have him attend puppy play before class. He had the bordatella (kennel cough) vaccine 1 month ago. 5 days after puppy play/class he developed kennel cough. Emailed Ben about this and never got a response back. Of course cannot attend last 2 classes so paid 400$ for 2 1 hour classes plus got a 178$ vet bill to treat kennel cough. I can't say enough great things about Dogology. The store is great- so many healthy options for food, treats and chews! We have taken our puppy, Molly, there for Puppy Academy during the week, playgroup on Sunday and taken her to training classes with Ben. You can tell that everyone there has a passion for what they do, and that they treat our dogs as if they were their own, which always made me feel comfortable dropping Molly off there for the day during Puppy Academy. I know that she loved being there each and every second of the day. There truly is no place that compares to Dogology! Was not impressed. I get this is in a somewhat nicer area of CT but 3 stars at best. As soon as I walked in two of the old women in the store did not even greet me. One nearly ran me over in the small hallway. The treats are over priced and they do not seem to know what they're talking about at all either. read more

Every person here is friendly and knowledgeable. The treats are all top quality and my dogs love them !! The puppy daycare is awesome and my only wish is that they would have adult dog daycare. I know when my GSD was a puppy he loved it and the staff b/c when I would pull in to Dogology he would want to run into the building !! read more

Awesome for training! We took our puppy to a beginner's class elsewhere and while we were happy with the class, we felt that something was missing. At the first class we took, our pup did learn to basics, "sit", "stay", recall, etc, and he could do all those things well. However, we felt he was more doing these behaviors for the treats and not because he was necessarily a well behaved dog. He was more "well-trained" versus "well-behaved". A couple months after our first class I found out about Dogology and the description of the class seemed exactly what we were looking for...and we were not disappointed. Ben is amazing! Our first class I totally got called out for bad owner behavior, but I'm glad I did! We have a high-energy lab cross who loves people and other dogs and always wants to be playing or involved in what's going on around him. During the first class we were sitting and listening to Ben talk and Cody (our pup) was whining constantly and pulling to be towards the other dogs. Embarrassing and a distraction to the other people trying to hear. In my mind, I thought, "scratch him and pet him to distract him and maybe he'll quiet down". But as was explained by Ben, I was only rewarding the anxious, whining behavior he was doing. He told me how to correct it and how to get him calm and, I'm not exaggerating, within minutes, Cody was laying on the ground, calm...no more whining! This was about 15 minutes into our first class so I was already impressed. The rest of the classes were just as great and we learned so much. What I really liked about Ben's class is he really goes into detail about the WHYs of the dogs' behavior and makes you think like the dog to understand why they're acting the way they're acting and what you can do to fix it. He emphasizes a lot about the dogs being calm prior to getting what they want so that they associate calmness with good things and we are really seeing great results with Cody. The class is over now but we're using Ben's tools & techniques at home to shape Cody into the dog we want him to be. I would definitely recommend these classes to anybody! read more

Dogology NW is amazing. We had been looking for an agency that trained service dogs for kids on the autism spectrum. After a long search we decide to start talking with Dogology. Mary and her staff were extremely helpful with the dog selection. As we explained the needs of my grandson she guided us to the dogs she felt were best suited to meet his needs. We chose a level 4 trained dog and made arrangements to pick her up and get trained three weeks later. The training was well done and organized and we had a little field trip to demonstrate her service level abilities. Initially, our dog, Zelda looked to her trainer before responding to her new owners, but after an evening bonding with my daughter and I she responds amazingly the next day. We took her on two flights, and introduced her to a home with two kids that she was not accustomed to. Within a day or two she was acclimated and you wouldn't have known she hadn't been a part of the family for ages. She responds great to her commands and is so mellow and sweet she was a perfect fit for my grandson. I know we will need to further her training and know that Dogology will assist as the provide lifelong support. We are so thankful for both Mary and Pace our trainer! read more

This place is great! Took my pup here for training classes and for puppy playtime on Sunday's and playcare on Tuesday and Thursday. Staff is friendly, professional and considerate of pup and their peeps! A great experience for my little girl and she loved, loved, loved seeing her puppy pals and her human pals as well! Always get honest and good advice because they really care about what's best for our fur baby's! We start older puppy class soon and looking forward to it. Highly recommended! Wife hired award winning trainer to come to our house to train dog not to jump on people. Guy kneed dog in chest the held our screaming dog on floor. Explained he had to hold him down until he stopped screaming. Had I been there I would have thrown him out. He continued his award winning trying and taught our dog to be afraid of large men Hired another trainer who taught us more modern techniques that did not terrify my dog Never would go to store or use for training again. RUDE! RUDE! RUDE! As new customers of Dogology, we were thrilled to come to our first puppy class and opted to attend the sunday puppy play hour as well. We did not understand that the doors close at a specific time and were denied entry to the play hour. What bothered us was the way the person at the desk behaved in a snippy and defensive manner enforcing the rules. When I called to discuss this, she interrupted, spoke in a perfunctory and impatient tone, put me on hold and after returning to the call hung up on me. It is disappointing to be treated so rudely; as a new customer, it sours our enthusiasm for the place. We hope management will work with staff to be more patient and understanding of customers. read more

I came in this store first thing in the morning looking to try out different foods for my dog because he is very picky. The lady there was very helpful and directed me towards the Lotus dog food and told me that it was a favorite for picky eaters. It actually ended up being one of his favorites, so she knew what she was talking about. It's always very clean and well organized, and I love all the cute collars they have and the different variety of treats. read more

I was contemplating putting my dog down when I researched dog trainers.. I contacted Mary. She came to my home today. I have to say , i learned a lot and I have to admit that i didn't know anything about how to live with a dog. I want to emphasize on the word "living" with a dog. She made me realize that I am supposed to be the leader. I was the "mom", not the leader. My dog is aggressive, she bites people and I can not have people at my home without them getting bitten by my dog. My dog goes to work with me every day and it became a challenge having her there (I got a dog because I wanted a companion since I am an empty nester ). My granddaughter started living with me and that meant a lot of kids started coming over to my house. The kids would hide in my granddaughters room and not come out because of my dog. The last straw was when I took my dog to the dog park... my dog was having a great time at the park. Until a mother and her child entered the park. They didn't pay ANY attention to my dog yet my dog went up to the child, ready to bite the child. Luckily I was able to catch my dog and stop her from biting... That's when I went on line and found Mary. She came over today and worked with me and my dog. After Mary left my dog and myself learned a lot. My granddaughter had a friend over today but instead of attacking , my dog laid behind me while I was pointing my finger a finger at her ... my granddaughter's friend who is used to hiding from my dog asked if she is going to bite and I said no... my dog did not bite her.... now keep in mind this happened about four hours after Mary left... I am so impressed. I am excited to see what happens when I bring her to work tomorrow. Money well spend... totally different dog now ... read more

We have 4 dogs of varying ages and breeds. Our oldest, and well behaved, is a 9.5 year old Male Bernese Mtn Dog. Next is a 5.5 year old English bulldog, (our problem child) then there is our 2.5 year old female petite pit bull, she is an angle and totally perfect, last we have a nearly 2 year old male pit bull. The Bulldog and the male pit have had their issues. We thought we had a fear reactive male pit, what we really have is a bossy disruptive Bull Dog, just being her natural self, and a Pit who thinks she makes our pack weak. After a single hour in home consultation, our two problem children are behaving very well, are much more calm, and it seems my daughter and I needed to be trained. Very much looking forward to having Ben work with us to provide the training our dogs need to feel safe in our "pack". He was awesome, and a few days later even my husband is amazed at how peaceful our home has become. I could not recommend Dogology and their training staff more. They are worth the time and money, and in fact should probably come out within days of picking up your new dog or puppy. If I can add one more thing, if you are thinking of taking in a dog from a shelter, remember you are taking a precious life into your home, make sure you have the time and love all dogs need, and take the time to learn how to properly train your dog with the assistance of Dogology. read more

To say that I am an animated dog owner maybe under stating. So no surprises here that my last two dogs were hardly the picture of obedient. When we brought home our Doberman I was scared as hell I'd ruin him too. Determined not to give up because of sub par trainers we reached out to the folks at Dogology. WOW they actually like people too! It was mind blowing to be treated with respect and kindness instead of the shame and humiliation we'd received from other trainers. Ben and Mike and the entire staff have been wonderful. Our Doberman is 7 months and can walk like a dream on a leash, sit, stay, wait. My husband even gained the knowledge to teach him to hand us his paw. Mike and Ben have taught me to be calm, quiet, and guilt free when disciplining Knox (our Doberman). They have shown me it's not rocket science it's basic animal instinct. We will have the most amazing 100 pound Doberman that the Farmington Valley has ever seen. We our sticking with Dogology. They care, they believe, they correct and the encourage, and that's just for us humans. What they do for the dogs is so much more. read more

I love Dogology. We frequent the store often and stock up on my cat's favorite food and my dog's favorite chews and toys. I called today for pricing on cat food because I believed I found a cheaper option for the same product, so I wanted to double check. I called the store and spoke with Frances I believe. She told me they cannot give pricing over the phone, but if I visit the store they will give me pricing on anything I need. I live 25 minutes away... Why would I waste my gas and time driving to the store for PRICING when I know there is a chance I won't be buying something? That is exactly why I called... Will you be reimbursing my gas? Didn't think so. I generally have a great experience at Dogology, but am disappointed at how this was handled. They are the only store like this near me and I am impressed with their knowledge of natural pet care and raw feeding (which I advocate for,) but after this, I don't think I'll be back. read more

Dogology is really a great place. Untill recently, I hadn't had the pleasure of knowing too much about the place. I stumbled upon the store by chance and really desperation as my boyfriend left the vital peice of information that our german shepherd has no more dog food to the last moment. Our Mace happened to be on Royal Canin puppy formula, and most stores dont have enough demand for the brand and its never in stock. So, long story short is 6:45 on a tuesday evening and I am searching for a dog food place and find Dogology still open. As soon as I found where it was located, I knew it was a good place. I walked in and was greeted by Marissa ( who is an absolute sweetheart btw) who told me she also has a german shepherd and she really spent time listening to my whole story of Mace having a sensitive stomach and etc. She reccomended Canine Caviar and then on top of that provided me with a sample bag to try and test out. Mace loved it and has had zero problems. I will be going back there to purchase the brand as his new food source and even to look further in their training and scent classes. The place is an absolute gem as well as the people and I have already raved about it to friends and co workers. read more

I never write reviews, but when it comes to customer service it's hard for me not to, especially from an owner of a store. I will NEVER go to this place again nor would I recommend this place to anybody. Trust me when I say, I know A LOT of people who are just as obsessed with their dogs as I am and we collaborate all the time on places to go for the best of the best. A friend of the family told me about this place since he takes his dogs to the play dates. He told me "You have to go, it's great." So I went to check it out to see what they had for grain-free diets and supplements. I walked in and I wasn't acknowledged at all until I started looking at foods and different treats. There were three other small dogs in there at the time. The owner finally came over and asked if I needed help finding anything. I'm thinking, "ok I'm at least acknowledged." I saw online a supplement from The Honest Kitchen that would help a dog with Digestion issues, as my dogs medications cost $300 per month. I wanted to see if anything would help me wean him off of flagyl. I asked if she had this particular product and she said no, only the food. She showed me this enzyme that could help, but Lex is already on a prescription enzyme. I started asking about Bison treats/foods she has that are grain free. She showed me the Honest Kitchen food, but no bison so it didn't help me. I could handle the snotty short remarks, but what happened next just flat out ticked me off. There was a small dried pee stain on the floor, so naturally my 105 lb dog marked it. In the middle of this lady telling me about different food brands, she stops mid sentence and says "Ugh and your dog just peed all over the floor." She said it as though it was the most repulsive thing that has ever happened. I can guarantee you this certainly wasn't the first time nor will it be the last time a dog pees on the floor from all the scents. Surely, she should know that since she's a dog expert. In fact, I'm assuming it happens often because there was a cleaning bucket with supplies by the register. I started to say "oh my God I'm so" and she was gone and came back with the bucket. THEN, she tells me, "This is going to take a few minutes to clean this up, you might want to bring your dog outside to finish." My response, "No I will look online and buy from chewy.com" It was a squirt not the Niagara Falls. Don't own a dog specialty store and be annoyed with a dog who pees. I'll take the extra 30 minutes and go to Leaps & Bones at Evergreen Walk. I was going to tell people about their 2nd anniversary gathering and perhaps checking it out, not anymore! read more
