The owner of this place is incredibly rude…read more My friend and I went in there today, looking for the entrance to Canton Creamery (because it has been "winterized", it was a bit confusing to figure out how to access the ice cream counter). When we asked for directions, the older man (I'm assuming is the owner) gave them to us in a somewhat rude and condescending way. Then, when we were walking out, my friend walked ahead of me. As she turned slightly to the left, instead of to the right, like he advised, he repeated: "to the right...the right... Duhhhh", saying the "duh" in a condescending way - like how a child would to a sibling. This was not quiet or under his breath. This was out loud and meant for us to hear. Unnecessary rudeness. Dude...calm down. We were pleasant to you and excited to eat ice cream... Your attitude sucked and was uncalled for. Why be that way? Why be rude when being kind feels so much better? Reading all these reviews on here helped me see that this attitude seems to be the norm for this guy. I will not go back here.

The first time Mike came, Leia refused to go outside with my fiancé. She refused to go potty with anyone besides me. She was terrified of everything. She growled at things she didn't understand and had some really obnoxious habits. Before he left that first day, we had her going outside with my fiancé. He explained the concept of how to hold the leash to us. He helped us understand how some of the things we thought we were doing to correct her behavior was actually probably reenforcing it. Since he was here that first time, she's come out of her shell so much more than she had before. She's acting more like a dog and I know we have Mike to thank for that. Although seemingly expensive, it's worth every penny. This week he showed us how to do down/stay and helped us understand how to help her with getting in the car and being comfortable. All around, we're so grateful to have him on this journey with us.

When I did so, they told me I had to purchase online or come into the store to purchase training sessions. I told the guy about the website issue and that I wasn't able to purchase online, his response was that "he's not concerned about the website and has nothing to do with it". So I drove 25 minutes to the store to make the purchase. Once at the store they told me I could only purchase training sessions when the trainer is at the store. How do these people make money, I give up...

My first time in I was surprised that the prices were not at the usual "we are in the Farmington Valley so lets screw them" levels. I was also really surprised how many of the customers they knew by name. Nothing speaks as well of a business as having such long term customers that you know many on a first name basis. I big plus for me is that they have a large selection organic gardening supplies. More than anyone in the area and at fair prices. (Not to get off track but if you vegetable garden you get better yields and quality if you go organic. I made the switch several years ago and haven't looked back.) Bidwell's also has that true garden center atmosphere. Garden stuff, fireplace stuff, bird stuff, and even a friendly cat that sleeps in the box of peat pots.
