This Petco is located between Puerto Vallarta and Staples in Avon, although each is stand alone and has space between the buildings. Parking is decent for space. As Petco is where the pets go, there is grass in front of the store with two poop bag stations and a trash can. Inside, most of the space is the store, but the grooming station was open with dogs being attended to, and there were signs for training classes available. I may have been here on an off day, but this Petco is cluttered in terms of supplies. There were a lot of carts out with stock, some even blocking the shelves. A lot of areas will need facing, although the food sections were really well maintained. More importantly, the living animals also looked well maintained. Their cages were clean with food and water clearly available. They were all doing their thing - turtles crawling into water, snakes hiding, mice running on their toys, and canaries tweeting suspiciously.

I brought my pup for a bath and a haircut at Petco of Avon for his scheduled time at 1:15. The young man at grooming immediately took him in, and we discussed how short he should go. He also wanted to see his most up to date Rabies vaccine. He said he would call me when he's ready in around three hours. So I went around town to do some errands. I got the call around 4:00 that he's ready and I could pick him up. I couldn't wait to see his fresh new summer haircut! I was so, so very embarrassed with what the groomer told me. He said they couldn't cut around his face, he was way too aggressive. He really isn't an aggressive dog at all. He's had most of his teeth removed, so couldn't be aggressive by biting. I thought they did a great job on his body, and he smelled so fresh and clean. His head was a bit uneven because he was wiggly. They didn't charge me for this haircut, that was pretty embarrassing too, they worked on him for a long time. They didn't even want to accept my tip. I truly appreciate their honesty and their hard work. I'm going to work on fixing the unevenness my self. I recommended Petco of Avon even if I won't be returning here. They are hard working and honest. If your pup could sit still it'll be so much easier for everyone.

    rocket man loves Alaina!

We love this Petco because the grooming department is truly the best in the world. When my wife and I adopted our rescue Rocket we brought him to Petco in Avon for his first grooming ever in his life and he literally loves the place now - of course he is a loud mouth and loves to bark and cause trouble but his groomer Alaina takes her care to the next level. She has worked with Rocket for MONTHS to get him used to grooming and it's still a work in progress! If you want to establish a relationship with a groomer who cares for your dog like her own, go see Alaina at Petco in Avon - no one better! Our little shit loves her so much!!

A picture is worth a thousand words. The groomer's name was Leanne.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Haircut done by LeAnne. The breed is a Maltese - I know it's hard to tell.

If you're thinking about brining your animal in to get groomed please reconsider it. Not only was the man rude when I was asking questions about the drying progress but they totally did an awful job. I brought my golden retriever in today to get a trim and a wash only to bring her home to have both of her ears shaved. Not only was that not apart of the agreement but both ears were bleeding after. Whoever groomed her made it look like they committed animal abuse.

My husband brought our Portuguese Water Dog to be groomed at this place because our regular groomer is temporarily closed. What a MISTAKE! The groomer there asked whether to cut her to 1/8 inch or 1/4 inch. Huh? My husband clearly had no clue, but any experienced groomer should have known that neither length was appropriate for a wavy-haired dog of this breed. My poor, normally fluffy pet was shaved so short that she looks like a hideous, hairless freak. She will also probably need to wear a sweater for months because the summer is over and she is almost BALD! I will never go to this place again and suggest everyone else avoid it too.

When we asked for directions, the older man (I'm assuming is the owner) gave them to us in a somewhat rude and condescending way. Then, when we were walking out, my friend walked ahead of me. As she turned slightly to the left, instead of to the right, like he advised, he repeated: "to the right...the right... Duhhhh", saying the "duh" in a condescending way - like how a child would to a sibling. This was not quiet or under his breath. This was out loud and meant for us to hear. Unnecessary rudeness. Dude...calm down. We were pleasant to you and excited to eat ice cream... Your attitude sucked and was uncalled for. Why be that way? Why be rude when being kind feels so much better? Reading all these reviews on here helped me see that this attitude seems to be the norm for this guy. I will not go back here.

As far as the ice cream I've been there once several years ago for that and to be fair it was very good but it's really not worth going there for ANYTHING. Do yourself a favor. Do NOT go there. There are other great places and nicer people to interact with for ice cream, flowers etc. No repeat customer here. See ya.

3rd Class In for a 3 Month Old Puppy... Wow Watch Out!…read more We started off at Canis, and it was truly awesome. Unfortunately, after a few sessions, the co-owner, Derrick, messaged me through their chat platform to say that our puppy had been making noise in her crate that day. This was a one-off situation -- she'd had some stomach issues in the days prior -- but he warned that if it happened two more times, she would be removed from the program. I understand it's their program and their rules, but his communication style was extremely direct -- almost as if he were speaking to a dog -- harsh and matter-of-fact. He told me that how I receive and perceive his messages is "on me." Talk about customer-oriented! If he ever took a class on people or management, he might learn that there's an old saying: perception is reality. I also had a few billing questions, and since texts weren't resolving the issue, I asked multiple times for him to call me, which he eventually did. From the start of that call, he was defensive and completely closed to any feedback about his communication style. I was honestly shocked at how the conversation unfolded and even asked if he was the owner or manager. Despite all this, I genuinely wanted to continue working with them. In short, they removed us from the program the very next day and promptly refunded our fees. My advice: don't offer him any feedback -- he doesn't take it well. It's a real shame, because the staff at Canis are wonderful, and the facility and programs themselves are truly impressive. We had been raving fans and recommended them to everyone, so this turned out to be a very disappointing experience.

The staff provide probably the friendliest, most helpful service I've ever received from a business, ever. I'm not being hyperbolic. They're always smiling, enthusiastic, helpful and knowledgeable. And human! I actually feel like I'm talking to human beings and not just someone who's paid to talk to me. This cannot be understated for a service business. The service is self-serve, but they're more than happy to help you with everything save actually washing your dog (it is self serve after all). They provide treats and will lend you a brush. You get two towels, but they'll always give you another if you need it (the air dryer for your station usually does the trick enough). They give you good shampoo for your pooch. The washing stations are well-maintained. There's hardly ever a station out of order. We go on weekends so there's no appointment needed. Cost is $21 which I think is a very fair price. Probably one of the best run businesses I've ever encountered. There's no reason not to go if you're in a 15 mile radius.

Looks like a new opening for DIY dog washing. Just bring your dog, they make it easy for you to do…read morethe rest. They had one bay at ground level for no-stair service for elderly dogs, and then at least 4 elevated tubs so pet owners don't have to stoop over. Each bay had a gated area to unleash my dog first and fold down stairs for my dog to walk up the stairs into the sink (no dice, we just picked ours up). Service was easy, they offered several shampoo selections that were included in the price of $18 for a wash, the stainless tubs were spacious and had easy access to tethers, a spray hose which was easy to regulate water temperature, drying towels, and a blow dryer with speed that you can control. They even offered me an apron to wear so I wouldn't get soaked and treats for during/after to help. Best part is you leave the items in the bay and walk out, they do the cleaning from there. Clearly owned/operated by dog lovers. Will definitely frequent between our dog's other grooming appointments. So thankful for the service and that I don't have to do in my own home and fuss over clean up and dog hair down the drain. We tried Petvalu in Canton before but they closed.
