My 7 month puppy peed herself when I picked her up in under two hours, which she doesn't even do when I'm gone for work for nine. Would not recommend. Your dog is best at home with an indoor Camera. Then it is locked away, where it can't play with other dogs that are right in front of her. Probably have no access to water, food or treats. First time I left my dog with food And treats. None of them were given to her within the six hours that she was there. Second time I dropped her off, I received her from a crate while other little dogs where roaming free and the top of her head flat. I asked what happened to her, and they told me that it's possible her hair was flat from the rain or dog drool. This third time I dropped her off is when she's peed herself when she saw me, she was again not socialized at all and locked away. You are paying $40 dollars for this. Nothing special and no Guarantee that your dog will actually be able to play or really be looked out for assuming no one was watching if dogs were drooling on her, or food and treats that you bring will be given. read more

I love Dogs at Play. Well Tilly does. I take her in the morning and she can't wait to get out of the jeep fast enough. I watch her on the webcam periodically during the day. She is always playing or running around having a good time. The staff at DAP are so good to the dogs. When Tilly sees them she is so happy....that is a good testament as to how they treat her. My dog started treatment for cancer in January 2017. She had gone to Dogs at Play for 8 years and continued to go there during her treatment. The staff and owner (Emily) were very compassionate giving our little girl a separate area when she need down time and gave her medications as needed. Unfortunately our little girl passed in May 2017. The staff and owner showed great compassion for our loss. We now have a new pup who goes to Dogs at Play and he cannot wait to get there. He pulls me as soon as we go towards the door and is very tired after play all day!! We are very fortunate to have Dogs At Play and I would not send my dog anywhere else. We had previously taken our dog to a different dog day care in Rochester, and are BEYOND pleased with the experience at Dogs at Play! We met Emily first, and she and the rest of the staff are great with us, and most importantly great with the dogs. Our girl is exhausted by the end of one day of play. I love that Dogs at Play has a room-rotate system, rather than a crate-and-rotate system, so our dog is almost never crated (unless she needs an attitude adjustment :)...and then it's 5-10 minutes in the crate, and back to play time). The outdoor area is HUGE and a great space for the dogs to play and run around. They also separate the dogs based on size, and possibly energy level? It seems like some of the bigger senior dogs are sometimes placed with the smaller dogs, which makes sense. We have also taken our dog to the evening training classes there with Bob Minchella, who is a fantastic trainer. He knows what he's doing, and the class sizes are small and the takeaways are huge. We look forward to more training in the future here! Overall, the setup is great, the staff are great, and we are ecstatic that we have a safe, fun place to bring our dog to get socialized and exercised. read more

I've brought my sweet Ruby here a few days a week for the past few weeks. A++++ services! She's soooo excited when she's dropped off, it's clear that she knows she's treated well there! I love checking in on her on the web cams and she's always having a blast with other dogs. I've also observed staff frequently cleaning up after dogs, which I really appreciate. I have been taking my wheaten terrier here for just about 3 years. Emily and her crew at Dogs at Play are WONDERFUL!!!! I feel like my dog is in excellent hands. He loves it when we arrive in the morning and is tired when I pick him up. They have cameras so you can watch your dog while they are there however I have never taken advantage of this because I'm working! My hours vary and it makes me happy to know my dog is not at home alone for long hours. The prices are fair and reasonable and the hours 7a - 7p are excellent. Our dogs really looked forward to going here for their puppy training class. They would get excited each Sunday morning when we pulled up out front. They loved meeting the other dogs in a relatively controlled setting with the other owners. Folks who work here are really nice for the most part and remember your pups. We had a weird interaction with one employee who was basically making fun of us for having small dogs. It felt kind of weird, like they radically preferred big dogs or something, but we got past it. The facilities are definitely made for dogs and it's not like comfortably furnished or anything, but again, it's for dogs, so I guess it's fine. It can really smell like dogs too, somewhat unfortunately. It seems weird that they have carpet in the front room. Maybe we didn't see the best parts of the facility during puppy class, but we thought it was fine. I know they have an outdoor area, too, which the dogs must love. We would bring our dogs here for daycare during the day, but get out at weird times and are afraid of running late and getting charged extra. Also it's expensive to send both of them. Having 2 of them is good because they entertain each other at home, anyways. If we only had 1 dog we'd be more likely to bring them to daycare. Location is convenient to downtown businesses. read more

I miss Dogs at Play. My husband and I have two beagles and just moved from Rochester to NYC. But when we were in Rochester, our pups were regular at Dogs at Play--two or three times a week some weeks. Emily and the rest of the staff is really wonderful, and they are great with the dogs. Even when there are lots of dogs there--they do a great job. We also found them to be pretty affordable. I wish they had a kennel free boarding service! I like that they sort the dogs by size and that the spaces are large enough for them to really run around and get tired. I love that they have an outdoor area--it makes such a big difference, even in dead of winter! Our dogs always came home thoroughly exhausted--they'd pass out in the backseat before we hit the first stop light! I also love the webcam. There's something comforting about knowing that you can just pop in and have a look to see what your pup is up to at any point during the day. We also used Bob Minchella for obedience classes, and he is phenomenal as well. In short, Dogs at Play is absolutely great and is good for any dog who has excess energy! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. This is the most unprofessional business I've ever had to deal with. After filling out my application and putting what breed my dog was, they turned him away because THEY DON'T TAKE HIS BREED. My dog is a huge English/American Bull Dog mix who would never HURT A FLY. From the moment he walked in he was forced into a cage and they called my fiance to tell him to come pick up our Murphy because they couldn't have him there "around a sweet little lab." What dog isn't going to go crazy if you make him stay in a cage (meanwhile he was adopted from a shelter) while the other dogs play? They made rude comments about my dog and created a breed restriction that doesn't exist. Most unprofessional business in Rochester. read more

If you take your dogs here for daycare, make sure you watch the cameras regularly. They do absolutely nothing to correct any type of dog behavior, and most recently I witnessed the staff member smack down a dog. I IMMEDIATELY called and nothing was done about it. The person on the phone didn't seem concerned at all, and only said she would check to see what was going on. She also told me all of the behavior was "normal play." A dog being pinned up against a wall by two other dogs who looks distressed and is trying to get away is not "normal" nor acceptable. I sent an email and requested to speak with the owner and/or manager and I received a lackluster response that the dog in question would be wearing a harness next time he's in daycare. Not only is that uncomfortable for the dog, but dangerous for all the other dogs trying to play with him. NOTHING was said or addressed about the staff member putting her hands on the dog. I am disgusted. read more

I can't say enough good things about Dogs at Play. We have taken our 5 month old puppy there about 6 times in the last month and a half and each time he comes home happy and tired. We learned about Dogs at Play after taking Bob Minchella's puppy obedience class. They recommended we send our puppy there once a week for socialization and so he could get out and run around a bit with other dogs. I like that they rarely of ever crate the dogs and instead rotate them between rooms. They also group the dogs by size and play style so that no one is getting hurt. I was nervous about sending our puppy anywhere but am so happy we tried Dogs at Play. A lot of my coworkers take their dogs here as well so that's always a good sign. Also, I appreciate that they have cameras so I can always take a peek in the middle of the day to make sure he is happy, which he always is! read more
