This is how happy our dog is with Paula!
    Sofia M.

Where do we even begin with how much we (and our dog Lucca) love Paula?! She trains our dog for an hour every week and trust me, that includes a ton of training for us as owners too, and it's really opened our eyes and minds to how much we have an impact on training our sweet girl. We adopted her about two months ago from a shelter and she came to us with her sweet personality but she was a stray and needs to learn to not pull in her leash and to work on some lunging issues. Paula not only trains her directly but spends time with us as the owners, explaining the "why". She is against using e-collars which thank goodness we never tried and contacted her instead. She focuses on the individual dog's history and personality and living environment and really tailors her training to your dog. She has a firm but kind approach which we love. We have already implemented her easy to follow and remember instructions during the week and see a difference! We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Paula! If you love your dog as much as we do, and your dog could use training, the absolute best thing you can do for them and your relationship with them is to have Paula come in and help! Mahalo Paula!

A happy Tai out on his walk

We adopted a 3 1/2 year old Scottie/mixed breed dog from the Human Society about 6 months ago. He was loving and pretty obedient with my husband and me at home, but a total embarrassment when we tried to take him for a walk. It appeared that he hadn't been walked outside and he was very very anxious. He barked and lunged at men, children, and other dogs. He would growl the whole time if we had guests at our house Paula has been a savior for us and for him. She taught us how to build his confidence and to guide him in a loving patient way. He now ignores dogs in yards and we can manage him if people, dogs, or children approach. He will sit on command and wait quietly if we stop to chat with friends. When people come over, Paula taught us to have them ignore him until he has had time to sniff them and respond to the word "Friends.". She has even got him to allow us to brush his teeth after I gave up since he wouldn't let me near his mouth! Paula is kind, positive, and loving, a real miracle worker for us and for Tai.

Lucy working on her "calm" command. Mahalo Paula!

Paula has been fantastic. She gives clear, directive feedback all oriented around building a deeper bond between my 2.5 yr old lab, Lucy, and me. Even within just a few weeks, I've noticed marked improvements in Lucy's behavior (i.e., I am growing more confident and communicative in ways Lucy can recognize!). Will add that I appreciate Paula's willingness to adapt a training program that suits my schedule, budget, and time commitments for training Lucy. It's been a great journey so far and one well worth the investment for a member of the family. Mahalo nui loa Paula!

Molly on a field trip with Paula

We needed a new House and Pet Sitter because our long time sitter retired. I was nervous about who was going to watch our apricot miniature poodle Molly while on our trip because she needs lots of attention. However, once I met Paula I knew all would be okay. Paula played with Molly in our backyard, took her on field trips, communicated often with updates and texted fun photos of Molly. We found our new Pet Sitter, and will definitely recommend Paula to friends and family.

After a long walk the tongue just flops to the side

Paula has been great from the start! Quick to respond and quick to bond with our Yuki. After one walk, there was already an improvement in leash pulling while walking and Paula can do training sessions with us too. On the hour-long walks with Yuki, she walks pretty far and sends photos. Yuki always comes back happy and ready for a nap. Our family has felt comfortable with Paula and we ask her all our questions. The knowledge and kindness are hard to find together!

Paula handled them both so well on the first meet, that I was confident working with her would be a success.

We just had a short trip outerisland, but couldn't bring our fir babies. Usually the parents or a friend can watch out pups, but not this time around. We called around and found it very challenging, almost like sending a toddler to daycare for the first time, they need vet records and a company to vouch that your pup isn't crazy and dangerous to others. We called these folks and they were very friendly and made it as easier to request vet records and willing to do trial run overnight to see how our dogs would do. We drove down and it's a little confusing to find, but basically aim for Salz Lock and Safe, pull into their parking and continue to the chain link fence and you'll see it mountain side. We met the couple that takes care of the fur babies. They were very welcoming and most importantly our dogs sixth sense accepted them right away. Their tails kept wagging, which made us feel better. Our dogs actually shake when we go to the vet and tail down, between the legs. We provided food for the morning, leashes and harness and that's it. They recommended not bring the beds because other dogs might mark them, since it's not a kennel environment. They can walk freely in the rooms and act like they do at home. We left them overnight and we're ready for a phone call, but no complaints came. Then in the morning we went to pick them up. On arrival the couple were still their smiling with our pups. Our dogs seemed happy with their tails wagging. They reported back to us how the dogs did and everything went well. I would recommend Barks and Purrs, because they genuinely seem to care for our dogs. Our dogs were happy and we felt safe to have them watched there.

Can't ask for a better location, just drop off your baby, and you can access the highway nearby heading either east or west. Richard is fantastic, very knowledgeable and he has such a way with animals. My little pupster gets super excited when we get there and now when I say "doggie daycare" he starts running around in circles and heads to the car, ready to go. He always looks forward to going to visit Richard and his furry friends. He comes home absolutely wore out. He wolfs down his dinner and then sprawls out on the floor to sleep. Richard is flexible with scheduling and very responsive and communicative. They also offer bathing services on site which you can avail yourself to while your fur baby stays in their care. I send my pup 2 days a week so that he gets much needed socialization and I get peace of mind knowing he's in capable hands.
