This is how happy our dog is with Paula!
    Sofia M.

Where do we even begin with how much we (and our dog Lucca) love Paula?! She trains our dog for an hour every week and trust me, that includes a ton of training for us as owners too, and it's really opened our eyes and minds to how much we have an impact on training our sweet girl. We adopted her about two months ago from a shelter and she came to us with her sweet personality but she was a stray and needs to learn to not pull in her leash and to work on some lunging issues. Paula not only trains her directly but spends time with us as the owners, explaining the "why". She is against using e-collars which thank goodness we never tried and contacted her instead. She focuses on the individual dog's history and personality and living environment and really tailors her training to your dog. She has a firm but kind approach which we love. We have already implemented her easy to follow and remember instructions during the week and see a difference! We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Paula! If you love your dog as much as we do, and your dog could use training, the absolute best thing you can do for them and your relationship with them is to have Paula come in and help! Mahalo Paula!

A happy Tai out on his walk

We adopted a 3 1/2 year old Scottie/mixed breed dog from the Human Society about 6 months ago. He was loving and pretty obedient with my husband and me at home, but a total embarrassment when we tried to take him for a walk. It appeared that he hadn't been walked outside and he was very very anxious. He barked and lunged at men, children, and other dogs. He would growl the whole time if we had guests at our house Paula has been a savior for us and for him. She taught us how to build his confidence and to guide him in a loving patient way. He now ignores dogs in yards and we can manage him if people, dogs, or children approach. He will sit on command and wait quietly if we stop to chat with friends. When people come over, Paula taught us to have them ignore him until he has had time to sniff them and respond to the word "Friends.". She has even got him to allow us to brush his teeth after I gave up since he wouldn't let me near his mouth! Paula is kind, positive, and loving, a real miracle worker for us and for Tai.

Lucy working on her "calm" command. Mahalo Paula!

Paula has been fantastic. She gives clear, directive feedback all oriented around building a deeper bond between my 2.5 yr old lab, Lucy, and me. Even within just a few weeks, I've noticed marked improvements in Lucy's behavior (i.e., I am growing more confident and communicative in ways Lucy can recognize!). Will add that I appreciate Paula's willingness to adapt a training program that suits my schedule, budget, and time commitments for training Lucy. It's been a great journey so far and one well worth the investment for a member of the family. Mahalo nui loa Paula!

Molly on a field trip with Paula

We needed a new House and Pet Sitter because our long time sitter retired. I was nervous about who was going to watch our apricot miniature poodle Molly while on our trip because she needs lots of attention. However, once I met Paula I knew all would be okay. Paula played with Molly in our backyard, took her on field trips, communicated often with updates and texted fun photos of Molly. We found our new Pet Sitter, and will definitely recommend Paula to friends and family.

After a long walk the tongue just flops to the side

Paula has been great from the start! Quick to respond and quick to bond with our Yuki. After one walk, there was already an improvement in leash pulling while walking and Paula can do training sessions with us too. On the hour-long walks with Yuki, she walks pretty far and sends photos. Yuki always comes back happy and ready for a nap. Our family has felt comfortable with Paula and we ask her all our questions. The knowledge and kindness are hard to find together!

We live in town and…read morewe're looking for someplace for our fur-baby, 3yo German shepherd terrier mix, to stay while we were gone. We were looking for a reputable place who would care for our pet as if she was home. Someplace she would feel safe since we know she has anxiety issues and is really shy around strangers and may be aggressive if provoked. We tried leaving her with family, but because of her temperament, they suggested a boarding care. She is great with their dog, but they too were looking for boarding for their pet. And because they go to a pet daycare weekly, they were sending their pet to their favorite pet daycare. So while I was searching a came across Happy Puppy Kingdom. The website and instagram pages showed doggies having fun and their prices were reasonable and their care packages were affordable. We made contact through Yelp and on to our introductory appointment. We also were able to provide Kamalani's vaccine records. As certain vaccines must be given in order to book the appointment's "meet and greet". The Owner, Sophia, was so caring, gentle, and loving towards Kama. She talked to her and built a trust for us and Kama. So we started to take Kama for weekly visits starting in January 2026. We knew Kama was going to be reluctant to go because she hasn't been around other dogs a lot and only family & family pets, and knew getting her used to HPK may take a while. As the months went by she started to know which days she got to go visit "her friends". We literally asked the day before if she wanted to "see your friends!"" And she would get so excited. Jumping up, wagging her tail, looking around for Miss Sophia. And when I'd drop her off she can't wait to get out of the car. In April we did the first overnight, and it was hard, for us. Constantly looking at the clock, expecting her to greet us at the door, and her hugs and kisses...nothing!! But she did great!! HPK said she didn't eat the food we provided, so they gave her their homemade food & she really enjoyed it. So when the days came for us to leave we knew Kama was in great care with HPK. We got pictures and videos of Kama when we were away. And it turned out, our in-laws also sent their 7yo hybrid poodle, Mochi, there too. And they said Kama protected her when she was scared. When we came to pick them up they were so happy to see us!! We know Happy Puppy Kingdom took such great care of our fur-babies and that this is a loving and caring place to leave them if we ever plan another trip. Sophia reassured us and gained our trust & Kama loves her too!!!

She is an amazing seven month old puppy: healthy, happy, social, friendly with both dogs and people, and good on a leash. However, when we left her alone for any extended period of time--anywhere from three minutes to three hours--she would go into a nervous rage, crying and barking nonstop. To make matters worse, we live in a small apartment with thin walls and are surrounded by neighbors who made us aware of her incessant barking. We needed help and Anthony came to the rescue. Let me say that my wife and I did a ton of research before we called Anthony. We read books, articles on the internet, and consulted with several seasoned dog-owners about how to quell Nala's separation anxiety. Unfortunately, though, nothing seemed to work. Therefore, we began calling various trainers on Oahu to discuss the problem. Some trainers sounded rather harsh in their training methods while one was flat out rude (one woman, a supposed "trainer," even recommended to my wife that we rehome our dog during their brief phone consultation). Also, most of the trainers had exorbitant prices. Needless to say, we were feeling pretty down and helpless. And then we called Anthony. Anthony spent a solid twenty minutes on the phone with me listening to me discuss our dog's problem and all of the solutions we had tried up until that point. It was an amazing conversation that was very supportive and reassuring. I could tell that he genuinely cared about helping us out. Anthony listed a few things for me to buy before our session, and made some recommendations about changing Nala's schedule. On the day of the session, he came to our house and observed her behavior with us. He took a look at our home and made suggestions about how to make some subtle changes to help with the problem. Then, we went to a nearby park and played a number of games with our dog. These games taught us how to build Nala's confidence, and how to help her cope with being alone when we leave the house. Things are still not perfect, but we have noticed DRAMATIC improvements and it has only been a few days since our session with Anthony. With time and a lot more practice and playing these games, I'm confident that Nala's anxiety will go away. Anthony is an amazing dog trainer; I recommend him to anyone who is having problems with their dog. Our sweet plot hound / (possible pit) mix is incredible toward my husband and I but highly aggressive toward other people and animals. Anthony was patient, understanding, and informative as he walked me through the steps necessary to take control and make positive changes. He encourages physical activity and positive reinforcement which is exactly what our dog needed. He gives you tips and tricks to use while you are at home / in between training. You can tell that Anthony cares about your dog, your family, and your individual needs and goals. A few short sessions has made a world of difference. The difference in recall alone is worth it. Our dogs come back reliably now, which is something we struggled with for a long time on our own. Their overall behavior improved across the board too, not just the specific things we went in wanting to fix. Raya is the reason this works. She is the real deal. She's incredibly responsive, and she sends updates throughout the training so you're never left wondering how your dog is doing. The videos she sends also provide instruction for you as the dog owner. She clearly cares about every dog that comes through, and it shows in the results. What sets her apart, though, is that she doesn't disappear when the program ends. She's still there for us, giving advice on how to keep the training going at home, answering questions, and helping us hold onto the progress. That kind of ongoing support is rare and it makes all the difference for us to keep up the training at home. If your dog needs real help, go see Raya. Kristi is truly one of a kind My boyfriend and I came to her desperate for help with our new pup, Kona, who struggled with severe anxiety. He was scared of pretty much everything -- people, new environments, being separated from us -- and we were also dealing with barking, basic obedience, and some unwanted behaviors. After just 4 sessions, the transformation has been unbelievable. Today was our final session, and I honestly wish I had a video of how Kona used to be so people could truly understand how far he's come. At the beginning, he wouldn't even go up to Kristi and was extremely hesitant and fearful whenever she took the leash. Now? He confidently walks up to her on his own terms -- calm, trusting, and self-assured. That alone speaks volumes. Kristi didn't just train Kona -- she guided us on how to train him the right way. She's patient, knowledgeable, supportive, and truly cares about both the dog and the owners. She sets you up for success, but it's important to note that the progress comes from continuing the work at home too -- and her guidance made that possible for us. We are beyond grateful for Kristi and everything she's done for our pup. If you're dealing with anxiety, fear, or behavioral issues and want real results, Island Dog Obedience is 100% worth it.
