    Donna Jeanne

I had to travel recently and absolutely did not want to board my fur babies, so it was such a relief when Breanna responded to my inquiry and even better when she was able to accomodate my request on such short notice. My little ones were well taken care of by Breanna and Lilly, plus they also provided updates and pictures of Hercules and Donna Jeanne each time they walked/fed them. Even more amazing is that my cat is extremely shy but she actually let them pet her. An added bonus was that they took Herky for long walks, which he just loves to do. I highly recommend Waikiki Pet Pals and I definitely will use them again in the future!

So I was looking for a pet boarding for ten days in the month of May 2026. We live in town and…read morewe're looking for someplace for our fur-baby, 3yo German shepherd terrier mix, to stay while we were gone. We were looking for a reputable place who would care for our pet as if she was home. Someplace she would feel safe since we know she has anxiety issues and is really shy around strangers and may be aggressive if provoked. We tried leaving her with family, but because of her temperament, they suggested a boarding care. She is great with their dog, but they too were looking for boarding for their pet. And because they go to a pet daycare weekly, they were sending their pet to their favorite pet daycare. So while I was searching a came across Happy Puppy Kingdom. The website and instagram pages showed doggies having fun and their prices were reasonable and their care packages were affordable. We made contact through Yelp and on to our introductory appointment. We also were able to provide Kamalani's vaccine records. As certain vaccines must be given in order to book the appointment's "meet and greet". The Owner, Sophia, was so caring, gentle, and loving towards Kama. She talked to her and built a trust for us and Kama. So we started to take Kama for weekly visits starting in January 2026. We knew Kama was going to be reluctant to go because she hasn't been around other dogs a lot and only family & family pets, and knew getting her used to HPK may take a while. As the months went by she started to know which days she got to go visit "her friends". We literally asked the day before if she wanted to "see your friends!"" And she would get so excited. Jumping up, wagging her tail, looking around for Miss Sophia. And when I'd drop her off she can't wait to get out of the car. In April we did the first overnight, and it was hard, for us. Constantly looking at the clock, expecting her to greet us at the door, and her hugs and kisses...nothing!! But she did great!! HPK said she didn't eat the food we provided, so they gave her their homemade food & she really enjoyed it. So when the days came for us to leave we knew Kama was in great care with HPK. We got pictures and videos of Kama when we were away. And it turned out, our in-laws also sent their 7yo hybrid poodle, Mochi, there too. And they said Kama protected her when she was scared. When we came to pick them up they were so happy to see us!! We know Happy Puppy Kingdom took such great care of our fur-babies and that this is a loving and caring place to leave them if we ever plan another trip. Sophia reassured us and gained our trust & Kama loves her too!!!

Happy Puppy Kingdom has been a wonderful place for my dog. I adopted a two-year-old rescue in…read moreJanuary, and when I brought him home, he struggled with significant separation anxiety and was fearful around other dogs. I knew that whenever I needed to travel, he would likely do better in a boarding environment than with in-home care because being left alone was especially stressful for him. With that in mind, I started looking for a boarding facility that also offered daycare so he could gradually become comfortable with the environment before any overnight stays. I found Happy Puppy Kingdom through Google and was immediately drawn to the fact that they specialize in smaller dogs. I also appreciated that Sophia requires an assessment before accepting new dogs. When I brought my dog in for his assessment several months ago, he was quite nervous. Sophia was incredibly kind, patient, and understanding as he adjusted to the facility. She kept me updated with photos and videos as he gradually inspected the facility and settled in. Now my dog absolutely loves his weekly visits to Happy Puppy Kingdom. I brought him for daycare once a week for three to four months, which helped build his confidence and familiarity with the staff and environment. When the time finally came for his first overnight stay, he had a fantastic experience. I cannot thank Sophia and her team enough for keeping my baby safe, happy, and well cared for while I was away. Sophia is friendly, caring, and genuinely passionate about the dogs in her care. It is clear that she and her staff are dedicated to creating a safe, positive, and enriching environment where dogs can thrive. I highly recommend Happy Puppy Kingdom to anyone looking for a safe, welcoming, and fun place for their dog. My dog has come such a long way since I adopted him, and the Happy Puppy Kingdom has played a huge role in his development.

Follow-Up Review This is a follow-up review we did not want…read moreto have to make. This is not the response we were expecting from the owner, Alex. Unfortunately, rather than an apology or accountability, we were met with personal attacks. We were called hoarders, accused of being uncaring pet owners, and labeled dishonest. These accusations were hurtful and unprofessional. Support of Expansion We want to clarify that we have never been unsupportive of her business expansion. As an entrepreneur myself, I genuinely celebrate growth within our local community. Supporting local businesses is especially important here in Hawaii. Our concern was never about expansion it was about a personal invasion of privacy that made us uncomfortable and unable to maintain trust within our home. Passport & Privacy We have video surveillance showing that more than just the back of a passport was visible. The passport was opened and viewed. Regardless of intent, a passport is a private legal document containing sensitive personal information. It does not pertain to dog walking services and should not be handled or examined by a service provider. Refrigerator & Freezer Our surveillance also shows our refrigerator and freezer being opened unnecessarily. A personal food item fell out, was used to cool down her face, and then placed back into our freezer. There were no personal ice packs present only our food items. This was unexpected and inappropriate. "Hoarding" Comment We appreciated that chewed items were removed that day when our dog chewed up his slow feeder bowl. However, being publicly labeled as "hoarders" is inaccurate and damaging. We had storage containers stacked in a room partially used for storage something common in many Hawaii households where space is limited. This does not constitute hoarding. We maintain our home responsibly. Service Length & Charges We reviewed our app conversations again and found no direct communication indicating a change in service length. We did miss a community group post mentioning rate increases. While we understand that rates may change, we were unaware that our scheduled time had been reduced. Had a price increase for a 30-minute session been clearly communicated, we would have gladly accepted it. Refund & Account We have not received confirmation or documentation of any processed refund and would appreciate a receipt for our records. Our account still exists within the app and prior conversations remain accessible. The app was simply removed from our phone once services were discontinued. The review was posted after waiting several days without a response. She also had our phone number but did not reach out directly. Reviews Clarification There were no coordinated or duplicate reviews. One review was posted on Google and one on Yelp by the same individual. No multiple accounts were created. A Google account was created solely to share this experience, as this was the first time we have felt compelled to post a negative review. Grief Statement We understand pet loss deeply and would always extend grace in that situation. It was stated that certain issues were due to grieving and needing time to spend the last moments with a senior pet. We later learned through those who knew her, as well as publicly available posts that were shared with us, that those final moments had actually taken place 5-6 months earlier (March/April), not during the month referenced. We would have responded with empathy and understanding had the timeline been accurate. However, the discrepancy left us feeling confused and hurt, as the explanation did not align with the information that was publicly available. We did not want this situation to escalate. We expected professionalism, respect for privacy, and honest communication. Instead, we were met with personal accusations that do not reflect our character or the facts. We have documentation from that time but hope it will not be necessary to share it. Our intention is simply to clarify our experience.
