Trailer Trash (chili, cheese, Fritos), Spicy Angeleno (jalapeño, bacon, tomatillo sauce, salsa, ours got screwed)... and TOTS!
    Lorri D.

Wieners rarely let me down. I wouldn't say that this truck necessarily let me down, but it wasn't anything really spectacular. ** All beef hot dog; cooked great and not too dry or juicy, just a normal dog. ** Bun; dry, white bread, just a bun bun. That's the basis of the Dogtown Dogs. It's obviously the toppings that they focus on. We tried the SPICY ANGELENO. I was really looking forward to this one. On the menu it said it was a bacon wrapped dog with tomatillo sauce, salsa fresca and fried jalapenos. We didn't want onions so we asked for no salsa fresca... well, we got just a dog topped with jalapenos. Dry and unappealing looking. No bacon, no sauce. We added mustard that we happened to have in our office and that helped. It wasn't bad, but a bit disappointing. If I try it again, I'll speak more clearly and hope to get something more tasty. We also tried TRAILER TRASH, this one was really good! Beef chili (no beans), nacho cheese sauce and sprinkled with delightful Fritos. The chili was very tasty and not too greasy at all. The dog wasn't overloaded with cheese, it had just the right amount. The Fritos on top were excellent! I'd probably do this one again. Besides being pretty yummy, the chili made the dry bun not so dry. We both really enjoyed this one a lot, however it would have been better with grated cheese and if I made it at home myself. Not bad at all though, very yummy. Of course, if there are tots on the menu, I'm getting some TOTS! We split a side order which was just enough. The guys aboard the truck seemed nice enough; little sense of humor, smiles and busy. $6.00 per hot dog and $3.00 for a side of tots. Pricy for a hot dog, but not for a gourmet food truck dog, didn't mind spending the money. Like I said... wieners rarely let me down but this one is a little flacid and needs some fluffing. I'm willing to give it another shot, but probably not go out of my way to look for it.

This one's for you and me, living out our dreams We're all right where we should be Lift my arms out wide I open my eyes And now all I wanna see Is a sky full of food trucks... A sky full of food trucks!! Food trucks in the neighborhood tonight! HOLLAH!!!! Went to the Dogtown Dogs and ordered two types of Hot Dogs: Plain Hot dog: Perfect for the little ones - it's a huge bun, one skinny and burned hot dog that is shriveled. Somehow, the kiddos still love it! If I were rating it, it would have been a Grade: C-. The kiddos in our group loved it and gave it a Grade: A- ($4). Spicy Angelino: This was my choice - a bacon wrapped dog, topped with grilled onions and salsa. Conceptually, it was a really great sounding dog. I should have eaten it right away, but took about 5 minutes to dig into the dog! By then, the bun was soggy and the entire thing fell apart. ($6). Grade: B. All hot dogs are served with 3 tater tots. I can now say that I tried a Los Angeles kinda dog!

One night, around 12AM, driving on Abbot Kinney, we saw Dogtown Dogs truck right outside of the Otherroom Bar. We decided to catch a dog before going into Otherroom. I got the California Dog which is All beef dog with avocado, arugula, basil aioli, tomatoes, fried onions and a lite vinaigrette dressing! I wanted some portabello mushrooms so he added two small slices in and charge me a total of $7. It was DELICIOUS! I can't believe the flavors was coming from this dog! EXCEPT for.. it's so tiny. a few bites and it was gone! :-( I wanted more but not going to pay another $7 for 3 bites of hot dog. I wish they'll lower their prices on their dogs. :-( 3 and a half stars, rounded up to 4 because their dog was so tasty and they were there pretty late.

*** Don't be a wiener, try a Dogtown dog and tatertots. *** As I left The Brig on Abbot Kinney (Venice), this truck was parked out front late nite about midnite. So I tried a hot dog. Tatertots were served on the side and my Dogtown dog was topped w/ grilled veggies & peppers. Kinda healthy, ok? (lol) I enjoyed it as well as those crispy lil potato critters. I am a fan. *** It's no Chicago hot dog but it satisfies late nite munchies. ***

Tried DD's when it rolled into DTLA. 10% off for jurors is always a great time to try a new food truck. Had the Dogtown Dog -- fennel slaw, dijon mustard, and roasted peppers. The dog to bun to slaw sort of stinks from my perspective. The slaw is super vinegary, took over the whole dog and made the bun super soggy. The tots were yummy though. RIght amount of crisp. Maybe I need to try a different one next time. $5 for a dog is a bit pricey to try another one though. Service was meh. Not the friendliest bunch on the day I bought mine. Discount wasn't offered to all jurors. Seemed a bit unfair.

My choice: spicy Angeleno turkey dog, made salad style.

For a hot dog with yummy embellishments, this truck tastes pretty good. HOWEVER, I do feel that the prices are kinda steep - Switching to a turkey or soy dog is $1 extra so your hot dog can end up costing $7 easy... Which is kind of ridiculous when you think about how many turkey or soy or beef dogs you can buy in a pack for $5. Sure the toppings are nice, but they ain't truffle is all I'm saying... I usually get the spicy angeleno and make it bunless. I highly recommend making any of your dogs into a salad, they give you arugula and not nasty iceberg so it actually tastes a lot better and it's not as unhealthy. They also give the kid in you a couple tots with your hot dog. So yes, I like this place -- I just think it's a little steep for what you get.

After drinking in SM, my friends and I were craving a bacon wrapped hot dog. We were thinking of the the guys in downtown LA with their little BBQ pits and wonderful smelling hot dogs. So as we were driving off, we spotted a lonely food truck. Nobody was in line, but we were starving and the truck looked nice and clean. After looking at the menu, I couldn't decide what dog to try. so I asked the guy, what's the most popular dog? He told me it was the California dog, but his favorite is the spicy angeleno. They both sounded good, but I decided to stick with the most popular dog. California dog: All beef hot dog with avocado, arugula, basil aioli, tomatoes, crispy onions and a lite vinaigrette dressing. I had my dog, bacon-wrapped for $1 extra. It was kind of weird getting a "salad" on my dog, but it was actually pretty damn good. The basil aioli added great flavor to the overall hot dog. Tots: Man, I haven't hat tots since I was in middle school! It was a nice throwback to the good old days! Overall I thought it was pretty good. A little pricey just for a regular sized dog, but it satisfied my tummy. The dog + tots came out to $9. If I'm drinking in the area again and get hungry, I would for sure come back to get a weenie!

trailer trash with complimentary tots! Thanks!!

I am such a fan of wieners....i mean hot dogs ;) Came here around noon and it wasn't packed. There were lots of food trucks right across from LACMA and I picked this one. I got the Trailer Trash ($6.00) This was an all beef dog topped with beef chili, nacho cheese, and fritos corn chips. The man was nice enough and threw in some tots on my hot dog! OMG! The chili was amazing and the tots were super crispy!! Everything complimented so well and make sure you grab lots of napkins because it can get really messy! I'd definitely like to try some other hot dogs when I am in the LA area! NOTE: -get lots of napkins -condiments provided outside the truck -takes credit cards

Irreverently good dogs...or so they claim. Dogtown dog. $5. Fennel slaw, dijon mustard, and roasted red peppers. I wasn't a fan of this dog, the dijon mustard was overwhelming and that's all I could taste. Tater tots w/nacho cheese. Too salty. N.G. Maybe I should try different dogs or something? It was a total miss for me at this truck. *sobs*

Portabello cheese steak and nacho tots

A-ok! I love hot dogs from simple to creative. I dig the creative menu for this truck and they have tater tots! Overall taste experience is "eh" to average. tator tots - crispy and enjoyable especially the nacho tots. hard to mess up a classic. california dog - cool, fresh mix of toppings. love the fried onion strips, dog link was just average. overall a pretty tasty combination. spicy angelino - the mix of flavors is creative. put together nicely but flavor was just decent with a little kick from the peppers. portabello cheese steak - wanted to really, really like this, but felt it was just under par. mainly because of the bread. overall flavor was decent, a bit bland even tho the portabello was cooked nicely. will prob try a few more items from this truck, but wouldn't go out of my way though. The dogtown and veggie dogs sound interesting. if i crave some tater tots again, this is a truck i'd be happy to order from.

Spent $9 for this California Dog on NYE.

Thanks for coming out to San Bernardino on New Year's Eve. The fish tacos and fries I had just moments prior didn't fill me, so when I noticed your truck parked in front of the Infinity stage, I had no doubts you would be next. I don't know if it was because I was just really hungry, but everything on the menu sounded so tantalizing. Fried egg? Portobello mushrooms? Fennel slaw? Buffalo tater tots? Dang. Such a hard decision to make merely hours before the end of 2015. Fortunately, there were only a few individuals ahead of us. Service was friendly and quick, just the way I like it. California Dog ($9.00) - You know I'm just thinking about my stomach when I did not even mull over spending $9 on a hot dog. I ended up choosing this one because who puts arugula on hot dogs? Well, Dogtown dude/dudette, it was an excellent idea. The peppery taste of arugula married so well with the crunchy fried onions, the creamy (barely there) avocado, the sweet chunks of tomato, the fragrant basil aioli, and the tangy vinaigrette. Again, perhaps I was still starving after my first meal, but I absolutely savored every bite. Tater Tots ($5.00) - Everyone in the group loved these, but I just thought it was all right. Really nothing special. Just a handful of warm tots wrapped in aluminum foil. All right, so the prices were hiked up since it was catering to a large event during one of the biggest nights of the year. I'm not complaining, I completely understand. If you see this truck in town, give it a try. I think they have pretty good taste in dressing up these dogs.

Let me tell you what I got for 11 dollars. California Dog (7$): what's seems to be a standard grocery store small hotdog in grocery store bun with a pile of greens and sprinkling of tomatoes with some green mayo. Topped with partially black not crispy in any way fried onions. I ate it cuz I'm hungry, it's just lame for the price. "Tater tots" (4$): a blob of stuck together tater tot oily mess. Not crispy, sorta warm, pooled with oil, picked at and then thrown in trash. Couldn't even get a single intact tot out of the blob.

    dogtown dog with tots!

Between this and the other Weiner truck (Greasy), i haven't found something yet that would beat the average dirty dog cart or costco dog I think the idea of paying 5-8 bucks for it, and not satisfy a craving like a dirty dog can puts me off a bit. (exception: dogzilla dog!) Luckily i got to eat a Downtown Dog at the streetfest without paying extra money for it, and thought it was pretty decent, but the pickled veggies on top, just weren't my thing. i would have rather had a fried egg on top, with bacon and avo, arugula and fried onions which would be the California Dog on their menu that Lucy Y deliciously described! Too bad they werent offering that!!! They did give a couple of tater tots with the hotdog, which was cool cuz i can always use some tots!

Enter TOTP-which we honestly discovered because of Lucky Tiki. They do a BOMB GF hot dog AND corn dog, plus the fries are great. Now, I've taken multiple non GF friends here, too, and they all love the hot dogs, as well. Service is always super friendly. Roll up to the kitschy outdoor dining downstairs or get drinks and dogs up at LT, in the old recording studio. Metered street parking or just Waymo if you go to LT!

Tail O' the Pup is iconic. If you love hotdogs, this is the place for you. And me…read more I shared the following: -1946 pup ($7.95): split + grilled pup, toasted bun, grilled onions, house mustard -chili cheese fries ($7.95): nacho cheese, shredded cheese, raw onions + chili -mini corn dogs Ngl, I was not into the 1946 pup. I felt the grilled pup was a tad too beefy for my liking. The raw onions really enhanced the flavor of the hotdog, and while I'm usually down for that, my palette wasn't vibing with it this time around. However! I freaking loved the mini corn dogs. The batter was batter-ing and dipped in mustard, they made for the most perfect bite. Order anything and top it with chili. I'm almost sure it'll be tasty. My chili cheese fries were elite. I loved that they use both nacho and shredded cheese to create a nice cheesy contrast. The chili was perfectly salty and topped on a bed of crispy fries - top tier chili fries. They also serve alcohol if that suits your midafternoon snack needs. Highly recommend. Tail O'the Pup is so kitschy fun. I love it.
