I am just thrilled and thankful that I found this place because I have not been able to get anyone that is capable of cutting his nails. He's extremely reactive to the point that I had them at this vet and they could not handle him!! So I've been very anxious as nails need to be cut. They did the dirty deed as my dog would have you think. Very professional and very caring. We will now be taking him to obedience training and this should help with a lot of issues. This is my new go to place to get my dogs nails trimmed! I have a very hyper chihuahua who loves people, and it makes it very difficult to get his nails cut. At dog town they worked as a team to get him to relax and they used a Dremmel which made me feel so much safer about his black nails getting done. We take our dog here twice a week for daycare. It is a great place. The dogs are well-cared for, and the staff seem to enjoy their work.

The best training place for dogs. I took my puppy there and was so happy to see him learning and playing. He was so excited to go to the classes all the time. I learned a lot how to be a better trainer for my dog and recognize when my dog needed attention, exercises, how to play with my dog , balance dog mood and be friendly with humans and other dogs. Our dog Bruiser has been coming in for awhile now. He absolutely loves it!!!! He always comes home & is ready to sleep. The ladies really care about what they do and are extremely knowledgable about dogs & their behaviors. They are very honest with how the day went & how your dogs behavior is. They only encourage safe play & don't allow aggressive or potentially dangerous dogs. Just yesterday they gave me a $5 voucher towards bruisers daycare for making a yelp review (my previous one). A neighbor recommended DogTown on 1st Street in Gresham to me and it's the best thing I could have done for my dog, as well as myself. He was first enrolled in Puppy Kindergarten and now attends P.L.A.Y. and Obedience Training with Stacey and her incredibly talented team. My Stuey is a strong-willed Pomeranian who needed the positive guidance from DogTown. He remains high spirited and happy, but is now able to calm himself and do as requested (most of the time--he's only seven months old). The staff at DogTown is loving, skilled, knowledgeable, and supportive. They offer easy answers that are effective and make sense. I boarded him there while I was out of town for a week and Amanda worked with him on a daily basis. She taught him to walk calmly on his leash, listen to commands, and follow through, and somehow he became completely potty trained by Amanda!!! My favorite scenario was walking in to pick up my dog and there sat a young woman in a chair reading (during quiet time) to the dogs, who all sat quietly listening (except Stuey and Ozzie who were playfully wrestling at her feet--definitely the class clowns!). I'm so grateful for the support of Dogtown staff; they are the most amazing, talented, lovely people. Dogs are interviewed for five hours before they can be accepted, requiring all dogs prove to be healthy and safe--it's vital to their excellent program. Five stars???? Make it ten!!!! I took him in for the full service bath and the nail trims and received a very clean and very happy pittie. They even gave him a cute bandana! I really like what this place has to offer. They are prejudice with Pitbulls and most likely with other bully breeds. Staff can be extremely rude at times. I was about 10 mins late one day and they locked my Pit in a cage in one of their back rooms. I got him from a shelter and does not do well in small rooms due to anxiety. She refused to let him out and said I have to wait until her class was over which was a hour long. She kicked my Pit out because I let him out of their back room. They also did not like him because a lab started a fight with him and as my dog was protecting himself it took a few of their staff members to separate him. It has been over 4 years for my dogs at DogTown. Believe it or not, the experience just gets better. I usually bring each of my two dogs one day per week. Lately, one of my dogs gets really upset if he can't go with the other dog on his daycare day...they both love it that much! It is hard to believe that this staff took two scared shelter pets and helped them become the socialized, fun loving dogs that they are today. My daughter recommended this place to me. To be fair it's been many years since she was there, but I have to say that what she reported and my experience are night and day. First, I can not express enough the frustration of trying to get the information and communication straight just from the applicatiion and my pet's records, and the application. Secondly, again, because my daughter recommended them, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went ahead and scheduled the meet and greet. The drive for me from Gladstone to Gresham is a bit, but worth it if I think my dog will be cared for and enjoy his time. Once I arrived, after circling for 15 minutes trying to locate the place (apparently the signs blew down....giggle giggle from the receptionist), no one had bothered to put them back up or stick something up so people can find it. I entered the facility, early because I wanted to be on time, and did not know where it was. The receptionist indicated I was early and said the person was in the back that was meeting with me, but did not offer to see if she could meet with me a few minutes early.....nothing, zero customer service. Add to that the place is dirty, at least what I saw of it. I'm not sure who is knowledgeable in the other reviews, but it is not the girl at the front desk. We LOVE Dogtown! They are friendly, kind, helpful, and I always leave feeling like they love my dog as much as I do! My yellow lab/golden retriever Cassie has attended puppy classes there as well as daycare and overnight boarding. Cassie starts to get excited by the time we get to the driveway and is always excited to see her puppy friends and human friends who work there! They take care to work with their dogs in a loving and humane way and Cassie has learned so much about how to interact with other dogs the right way, learned new tricks and best of all she comes home and is ready for a calm evening at home! I cannot recommend Dogtown enough! Our 4 month old Blue Heeler puppy just completed the Puppy Star class at Dogtown. We thought it was great! Our little puppy was really good to begin with, but the class was super helpful in getting him socialized to other people and dogs, and also listening to commands while surrounded by distractions. I've been to other obedience classes at other locations where the trainers have great dog skills but ZERO people skills. These trainers were super personable and took time to really talk to each person about their challenges with their puppies. The class is on the cheaper side compared to what is out there. The hours are convenient, and the location was convenient for me (I work in Gresham). All and all, an awesome experience. I can't wait to sign up for the next class! read more

My groomer Kathy just moved from the pup scrub to Dogtown!! We have a giant schnauzer and he's at least 120lbs!! Kathy is amazing with him! He always looks amazing when she's done and he is always so happy! He practically smiles when he sees her! She's great with Charlie and grooms him with ease and lots of love!! It's so hard to find someone who you can trust with your dog and we have found Kathy and will never ever leave her! She listens to what you say and has amazing customer service! We have a typical husky - social, high-energy, and in need of an outlet while his humans do things like go to work, buy kibble, and sleep. We don't have room at home for a whole "pack" of pups for him to run with, so we bring Rocket to Dogtown 1-2 x per week to play with other high-energy dogs. The staff here is so great - they know every dog (and quickly learn every owner) by name, teach/enforce good doggie manners, and you can just see how much they love dogs and really care about the pups in their care. If you want to come home to a happy, tired dog after work (or just need to get him or her out of the house and out from underfoot for a day), I can't reccommend them highly enough! read more

This place is disgusting. The staff are lazy and rude. The facility is disgusting and not up to code. They dont even clean the floors every night. Anne Marie was a total jerk to me when I went in here to inquire about their services. The counter person was on her cell phone the whole time and just ingored me because apparently her personal phone call was way more important. The place smells overwhelmingly like excrement and urine. There is no way this place is safe for your pets. One of the workers told me that she had been bit several times by aggressive dogs yet the owners refused to kick the dogs out because they need the business. How is it safe to let aggressive dogs play with other animals. Unless you want your animal to come home chewed up and covered in stench DO NOT GO HERE! read more

I took my dog here for one day for which time they lost my dog by a busy road! The people who work here are all overweight and obviously out of shape to take care of dogs. I came to pick up my dog who is my one and only child and all these ladies did was talk about how much pain they were in from getting a little exercise from getting my dog that they lost. They had no idea how long he was gone for until someone spotted him! When I picked him up he took hold of his leashed and pulled me out of there and I will never take him back. read more

They have a new groomer here named Kathy and she is amazing! The only one who I will let touch my dogs. I have an old jack russell with lots of moles and Kathy makes it as easy as possible on her! I also have a havenese/coton de tulear puppy who has ultra fine hair. She has worked miracles on the matted hair!!! She has a ton of compassion for the dogs on her grooming table which I love. I've been taking my dog to Dogtown on a weekly basis for the last 4.5 years and have had an amazing experience. My dog gets so excited on the day that he goes that he starts anxiously waiting by the door and even whines with excitement while on the drive over. He practically drags me through the door! I really enjoy that it is a large space that can accommodate various types of dogs (big/small/active/etc) and that all the staff that I have encountered have been professional and nice. I have an active dog and he comes home happy and tired! The co-owners, Stacy and Anne Marie, are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They are generous with their time and advice, including how to introduce our dog to our new baby and how to keep our dog healthy. We've boarded our dog with Dogtown as well and it has always been a fabulous experience. I'm just sad that we're moving away and I won't get to see their smiling faces each week! read more

It became very apparent to me after adopting my latest shelter dog that he needed some dog manners.....badly. I have trained many dogs myself, but this one is extra special and needed a class. I did a little research online, and got confirmation from a couple of friends that are in the know in the dog world, that this was the place to go. I was not disappointed. They have a great facility, friendly laid back staff that obviously love their work, plenty of services, and more than reasonable prices. The best part is they are not dog Nazi's. I believe it's been 8 years of Dogtown hosting my dogs. We usually only visit 1 day / week but when I'm working more the dogs love staying more days. Incredible staff and owners/managers. They also do our nail trims and ear plucking on the standard poodle. They are firm enough to manage our Chesapeake but gentle enough for the poodle. They offer training classes which are kind and gentle to both dogs and owners. read more

This place is the BEST! the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. I have had such a great experience here at Dogtown. I can't say enough good about this place! They have a great wash center so I can wash my dog and dry her without the mess at home. They even have a groomer (Kat) who is so darn sweet! Onwer lies! They claim the dogs are never left alone which is not true. They also say that when dogs are boarded they are always taken home, some dogs are left kenneled at the shelter alone over night. This place is very unorganized and unprofessional. read more
