Bella loves going to Green Acres for day care. She has lot's of fun and comes home tired and happy. All the personnel are kind and friendly, and Bella goes with them gladly. When I go to get her, I always get a short report on how her day went and her finnicky eating habits. I know Bella revels in a good puddle, but the staff always clean her and her clothes up before pickup time. She was also boarded for two weeks in November (photo), and I got regular updates and photos, she always looked clean and happy. BEWARE: Left my french bulldog with Green Acres K-9 Resort from 8/24-9/3. Came back to her having been with dogs 3x or more her size and beat up. She had bites on the back of both her hind legs and couldn't walk without yelping because her neck and shoulders were injured. $400 emergency vet bill later and the only response from them is "you signed a waiver, but we will put a $250 credit on your account here." Sorry but waiver or not there should be a responsibility to make sure my dog is safe. She has still not fully recovered from her injuries. Needless to say we will not be back. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE. I brought my dog to be boarded here, Tuesday through Sunday. I pick him up Sunday to find out that he cut his paw open on a fence, on Friday. They did nothing, and when I looked at it, it was a VERY deep gash and required immediate medical attention. He required stitches and some heavy antibiotics, for risk of infection(from sitting in his own filth for days). When I brought the $734 vet bill to Green Acres, the lady told me that I was out of luck and they are not at fault at all. read more

The staff and owner are nice enough, they sent updates about our pup and he looked like he was having fun. But know going in your dog will get Giardia. They were unapologetic about the fact that the dogs are exposed to lots of wildlife poop in the area that has Giardia. Many other reviews say the same thing - believe them. I expected them to be on top of watching dogs and / or cleaning the area better by now, but sadly they are not. Our vet bill was more than the boarding costs. Amazing place. My husband and I travel often and we often have last minute trips. Green Acres is always able to take Moose in. As soon as our dog realizes where he is, he is bursting with excitement and when we pick him up, he is exhausted from all the play. Highly recommend this place. Expect your dog to come home with minor bumps and scratches. They are outdoors and playing with many dogs, it's normal and absolutely doesn't bother Moose. read more

I am very hesitant to leave my dog with other people because he is very attached to my husband and I, but I was very relieved to see the woman at the front desk treat my dog exactly how I do! Please don't send your fur babies here! My family went out of the country for 13 days, and left our Mini Aussie, Pepper, with Green Acres, opting for the boarding with daycare to ensure he had lots off attention while we were gone. Because we were to be out of the country, we left contact info for our vet as well as family members in case something came up. Knowing he'd be out playing, we also arranged for him to be freshly bathed on pick up day. Upon return, Pepper was brought out wet (I was there on time), but his normally crisp white chest fur was brown with mud. I inquired if he'd been bathed, and the staff member insisted he had. I pointed out his brown chest, and she tells me that was his normal color, insisting again he was clean. This baffled me - this dog has slept in my bed for 4 years, I know what color he is! As Pepper rolled to his belly for rubs, I noted his underbelly fur was not just dirty, but matted with mud and feces. I was appalled but had to leave to pick up my child at school, so requested a call from a manager. Before even arriving home, Pepper was acting unusual, and making an odd choking sound. This continued into the evening, with him coughing and vomiting multiple times, and all through the night. First thing in the morning, I called his vet and brought him in, confirming he had kennel cough. He was so sick, dehydrated and needed antibiotics and medicine to stop his coughing and vomiting. I called the kennel and they apologized, but did they did not plan to call the other owners to warn them. I was infuriated that they did not call my emergency contacts, did not take him to the vet, nor warn me that he was sick! I understand that in spite of being vaccinated (Pepper was current on all vaccines), dogs can get sick at a kennel... the frustrating part is that they didn't take to proper actions to get him the care he needed once he was sick, and after I called them, the manager admitted that they knew dogs in their care were sick but yet THEY DIDN'T EVEN TELL THE OWNERS THEY HAD KENNEL COUGH GOING AROUND! I called multiple times to try to reach the owner, who never called me back in spite of several promises by the manager. To top it off I had to spend well over an hour soaking and combing the matted bits of hair to get the dried feces and mud out of Peppers fur, and even so ended up having to cut out large chunks that were too tangled to comb out. This place is awful. read more

Do your yourself a favor and avoid this place. Learn from our mistake. Should have known from the run down appearance outside, but trusted them when they said the kennels were warm and safe and secure. We took our dog here over Thanksgiving. When we picked her up, I noticed a cut on her leg. I mentioned to the staff that she was anxious and asked what happened. They said they had no idea what happened, are they not watching the dogs? When I got home I noticed she had five cuts on her leg. She is now bruised and in pain and can barely lay down. We wanted an explanation of what happened, but the manager or anyone who could help was conveniently out of town. I had to call back first thing Monday morning and was basically told a contract was signed and the dog must be anxious and it's not their fault. The manager basically said that's the risk you take and that we signed a contract and they won't do anything and it's just too bad. If you are going to take your dog to a boarding kennel you want them to actually care about your animal. This place has no accountability and an obviously untrained staff. They were actually defensive that we were curious what happened. Please don't give this place your business. read more

The first time we took our dogs there in 2009, they had a fabulous time and came back happy and exhausted. In the past few months that we've dropped our dogs off, it seems as though they've continued to expand along with increased demand without maybe increasing their staffing accordingly. Either way, one of our dogs has come back repeatedly with an alarming number of scratches that were untreated, and a friend's dog suffered a serious enough flesh wound (a fight or trying to escape, we couldn't tell) that I would hesitate before sending my dogs back again or referring Green Acres to another. Nice folks who run the place, but they just don't seem to be keeping as close an eye on the dogs as they once did. read more

The staff here are caring and if they aren't overloaded with dogs, they can give your dog some one-on-one attention. The policies of this place aren't great and we learned a couple things the hard way: 1. There are no staff on site for 12 hours of the day, 7pm to 7am. 2. The dogs "sleep inside" but they took it upon themselves to let our dogs sleep in the outdoor run without contacting us. Combine these two problems during the 4th of July weekend (ie fireworks at night), and our dog escaped. They didn't figure it out until 7am the next day because no one is there for 12 hours and the only way she could have escaped is if she was kept in the outside run overnight. Their response wasn't great either. They blamed their little to no response on low staffing. One of the staff put out fliers (on his own time) and the other staff helped me look for a couple hours two days in (also on her own time). I had to demand that the owner contact me because the staff weren't allowed to give out her contact information. So in summary, things might go ok for your dog here. Our dogs stayed here for a week in June and seemed to do just fine (aside from some sunburn). I won't be bringing my dogs back, instead opting for a facility that truly has oversight at night and maintains the level of care that they communicate to clients. The story ends ok. Thanks to my dog's scavenger ways, she survived three days and walked up to a house in Damascus, with her collar still on. She had a skin infection that we are still fighting and had lost 10% of her already lean body weight. We're lucky she didn't get shot, get in a fight with another animal, get hit by a car, or get caught in an animal trap. She'll be staying at an indoor kennel near our house from now on. read more

Terrible, run down, and very rude staff. I can't believe this place is still in business. There are too many great options in the Portland and surrouding areas to use a place like this. If you're going to be gone a couple days there are MANY places in Portland. However I would prefer my dog stay in the country where there is grass etc for longer periods of time. Finally found the best place. Charlton Kennels in Sauvie Island. They've been around for years and have a wonderul reputation. Our dog was treated like a queen there and they are one on one and will text you photos etc. It was so clean they even wash the bowls after each meal and you can see them hanging up to dry. I'm just trying to save everyone form the stress I went through trying to find a wonderful place. Green Acres isn't one of them. read more

Both times I have boarded my dog here, he has come home with Giardia. Its a parasite that infects their colon. Dogs get it from sharing water or eating feces of another animal that is infected. He also came home with cuts in his nose. I wish I could zero stars! F*** this place! read more

I will not be bringing my dog back here. I left him here for five days and when I picked him up he was filthy and exhausted and panting. He collapsed right when he got in the car and acted like he was extremely hot.... it was around 100 degrees during the time he was at the kennel. I'm concerned it wasn't air conditioned where they kept the dogs (they wouldn't let me go back to see). My dog always comes when called but would not come when they called him to leave, and then he wouldn't follow the woman. To top it all, he came home with kennel cough. read more

As a dog lover, I have concerns about k9 resort. I live just down the road and most nights I listen to dogs barking and howling..all night..mournful howling. I doubt if anyone checks on them since it seems to continue. I would think keeping the dogs inside at night would help their anxiety. read more

The kennel sounds like a good place to board you dog, but don't be fooled by the land/space they have. They leave dogs in their kennel for 16 hours (3:30pm-7:30am). My dog came home with an eye infection that had to be treated by the Vet, also. Very disappointed by the staff and their customer service skills. My hight-energy Plott hound Pookie always has a great time, and sleeps for a couple of days when she returns home, so I knwo that she's had plenty of exercise! I know that she really enjoys having the run of the place and having lots of things to smell and places to explore. It was nice that they washed her bed and bedding before we picked her up--an unexpected plus that they do for everybody. One thing--I would like to be able to pick her up on Saturdays. As it is, even if you return to town late Friday night or anytime on Saturday, you have to wait until Sunday tp pick your dog up--so you have to pay an extra day's day care/boarding when you do not really need it. read more

My dog Gunner goes here for day care. He comes home exhausted from playing so much. He has always told me how much fun he has :) Unlike some of the reviews state, all of the staff members have always been more then kind to me. They treat my dog very well and I know he is in great care. During rain times, they even rinse him clean before I pick him up! Our German Shepherd boarded there a few times and I was always impressed by the young staff who seemed to enthusiastic and hard-working. But the last time we picked up our dog after a two week holiday, she was in a bad state. She was thin, lethargic, unstable and could not go to the bathroom. Half of her portioned food was uneaten but we never got a call that she wasn't eating. We took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with severe dehydration and she had lost 8 pounds (over 10% of her body weight) in two weeks. Her bowels were completely empty event though she hadn't gone to the bathroom since we picked her up from Green Acres. She was nearly admitted to emergency overnight care but she responded well to an IV of fluids. Basically she was starving and dehydrated. The vet also diagnosed a pulled groin and sprained tail. Either no-one noticed these afflictions or they did not care. All emails and calls to Green Acres owners went unanswered. The staff was not aware that anything was wrong with our dog. At a minimum they completely neglected our healthy, young and sensitive dog not to mention the possibility of abuse. I would strongly urge dog owners to not be fooled by the friendly staff and false promises of one-on-one care and look elsewhere. read more

Our lab was injured at Green Acres resulting in nearly $400 in vet fees and a couple weeks recovery. They refused to take responsibility or pay the bills. They didn't even call after it happened, but made a comment after we went to pick him up that he had caught his ear on a fence. But, they could not find the fence where it happened, and the vet said it it was a puncture wound and tear likely caused by a bite. We are filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and meeting with our lawyer regarding legal action. read more

Have used this place on several occasions. Every time my dogs seem very happy upon my return. My one older dog loves the opportunity to run on all the property and free range himself to sleep every night. We live in the city and he doesn't get off leash outside much, so when we go there he's never sad to see me drop him off. He know's now that freedom awaits. Love the staff - they are great. We really love this place. We have two German Shepherds with quite different personalities and they have both acclimated to this place very well. The people seem conscientious. My husband and I took our two dogs there over the Fourth of July this year for three days and one of our dogs who is a border collie came back fearful and timid of other animals and yes when we picked the dogs up she did say the Border Collie did not do well and they could not do a thing with him and I'm sorry to hear that and we have now corrected that situation but no dog should come from there afraid and feel timid. We decided we won't take them back there anymore and will from now on take our dogs where they have been trained at instead. My husband nor I was not impress with the gal at the front desk and did not have good customer service and was not friendly what so ever. This is our second time we have taken our dogs and before we were very pleased. I left my 2 dogs at Green Acres for a long weekend while I was out of town for a wedding. I opted for the daycare and boarding option with a bath at the end to make sure they would have lots of attention. Both dogs are very social and loving. When I picked them up, Pammy was wet, but not clean, as she is normally a white dog and she was not white like she is when properly bathed, so I was highly suspicious. Additionally, neither dog had their nails cut as was also part of the bathing process. The girl told me both dogs had been bathed and mentioned that Monty had some "scratches" near his left eye from trying to push his way out of his kennel. I also noticed Monty had some swelling under his chin, like a turkey neck. Both dogs were very lethargic and collapsed when I got them home. I wrote that off as exhaustion due to playing so much in the open fields. Monty's turkey neck turned out to be a giant abscess with a puncture wound below his left ear. The "scratches" by his eye were also puncture wounds that he had near both eyes and in other locations on his body. He also had lacerations on the bottoms of his feet. I observed Pammy licking one of her legs excessively. When I investigated, I noticed that she had some sort of bloody wound on her leg. I took both dogs to the vet. Pammy had somehow managed to rip off a dew claw and Monty had been fully attacked by another dog. Both dogs required procedures that needed sedation, pain meds and antibiotics. More than $600 in vet bills and 2 weeks of painful recovery. All I got from Green Acres was a half hearted apology and a $68 refund for my bathing expenses, because obviously the person who bathed them should have noticed the injuries, if the bathing was done right. Nobody seems to have a clue how my dogs could have been injured so much, especially since they were being carefully observed at all times according to staff, and could not have gotten into any fights or been attacked. Never taking my babies back there again. Don't risk it if you care about your dogs! read more

DANGER!!! DO NOT USE!!!!! They don't even deserve one star... This 'resort' does not care for or about the dogs (aka family members) they get paid to care for!! They NEGLECTED our dog - DO NOT USE THEM!!! He was injured while under the kennel's care and they failed to contact us or seek medical help until the wound was so infected that he had to undergo surgery to cut out the infected tissue both inside and around the perimeter of the wound, which caused severe additional pain (he was on pain killers for 3 days) and multiple follow-up visits to the vet. See photos named "Review 12-31-18 - warning: they are graphic =( They claimed that he was bit by another dog & it happened the day they contacted us. The vet reported that the wound was not indicative of a bite and that it was several days old. He had come home with small cuts after previous visits to the kennel. When we dropped our dog off we requested, both verbally and in writing, to check where he was going on the property as something sharp had cut him. Complaints have been filed with the Better Business Bureau and Clackamas County (who informed us that there have been MULTIPLE complaints about them & recommended seeking attorney input to get them shut down!!) We have attempted to contact them with no response - another indication that they simply don't care. PLEASE do not risk having your family go through what ours did. PASS THIS ALONG TO ANYONE YOU THINK MAY BE CONSIDERING ENTRUSTING GREEN ACRES TO CARE FOR THEIR BELOVED DOGS!! read more

I have been taking my 2 year old dog to Green Acres for boarding and day care since he was 6 months old. The acreage is fantastic, where the dogs can run and play and exercise in huge fields and streams. The perfect setting! The overnight kennels are clean and spacious, and heated in cold weather. The staff are very attentive to the dogs and take individual needs and personalities into consideration. My dog is always clean and ready to go when I arrive to pick him up. The real evaluation is seeing my boy's reaction to being there! He LEAPS out of the car to go play ~ so I know he loves it! This used to be the only place I would take my dogs for daycare and boarding. I used to recommend them. Not anymore. In the last year we have had so many issues. My Labrador came from there sick with intestinal issues, given that he is completely vaccinated and our other dog wasn't sick, we suspected that he ate something while he was out in the field and no one saw him (distracted or unsupervised). Greenacres staff had no idea. Claiming there is nothing in the field for them to get into. We started daycare since we have a new puppy... the new puppy was always coming home exhausted, but one day she arrived home with puncture wounds on her head and belly. Nothing worthy of a vet trip, but of concern. So we dropped out of daycare - staff said no altercations that they saw and it must have happened somewhere else...uhm...okay. The last weekend in June we boarded them for five days and BOTH came home with kennel cough. Again, they are vaccinated, but there are strains of this sickness that are not covered by the vaccine. A thousand dollars and several weeks left to go on anti-biotics...we will NEVER be back. GreenAcres staff response "that is the risk. Yes, we know and we are doing our best to control it" - wow, if you knew why didn't you tell me BEFORE I left my dogs there. My puppy is high energy. When boarding, even with daycare, she spends 12 hours in a kennel. I never knew that. It used to be that dogs were in the field until dark (even if that was 10 pm) and up at sunrise. Now they are kenneled from 7pm to 7am. WOW! No camera's for anyone to even check on them. I made the mistake of coming early to pick them up and all the dogs were crying, unattended and not a person in site incase of an emergency (I shudder to think what would happen if there was a fire with NO ONE on site). Yes, all of these things are inherent risks you take when leaving your canine kids with dozens of other dogs and people, but I am tired of paying the vet bills every time my dogs go there.
