Beautiful cozy spot on at an unassuming location on Douglas Ave. The food was exceptionally delicious and authentic. A wonderful place for special occasions or a celebratory meal. The gnocchi, salad, and meatballs were superb and portions ample. The owner/chef was friendly and accommodating, and clearly proud of this lovely spot. Our waitress was, uh, different. She seemed perplexed by our requests for a to-go box for leftovers and scoffed at our request for parmesan cheese. But everyone has an off-day. Better for him because it was trash. Clearly lives above the restaurant- no problem, but someones t shirt and toothbrush were in the bathroom. Shameful. Calamari - for sure frozen, basically fried car tires so rubbery, ate them anyway due to hunger. Pork shop - pork slop. Miserable. Wife's egg plant - some layers stone cold, no pasta came with it had to ask for some. You kidding me? Paid $200 for an expired lean cuisine. Got scammed, congrats Armando. I attended Dolce & Salato's Coffee Day Party on May 24th. This is the incomparable chef and restauranteur Armando Bisceglia's latest venture and it hit all the right notes. The Biscotti flavored iced coffee was excellent. I was also introduced to Cornetto pastry (thank you, Lupe Aguilar). It was my first time trying the cream filled croissant and it was insanely delicious. I had the pistachio but many different flavors are available. It's located in the totally revamped Brooklyn Coffee Tea House on Douglas Avenue in Providence. I'm excited to return to this cozy cafe to try their full menu. Everything looks wonderful! read more

We were the first to arrive at this small, off-the-beaten-track restaurant. We found it on Yelp, it had great reviews, and an interesting menu. It's a little over a mile from Down City Providence and about the same distance from Federal Hill. It's located in a quiet neighborhood and has a small parking lot on the side of the restaurant and plenty of street parking. The restaurant has a local family feel to it; we liked the atmosphere. We were greeted by Armando, the owner and chef. He provided background information about his new restaurant and his experience as a chef in the Providence area. He also explained that the Porchetta was homemade and that he'd cook anything on the menu to our exact specifications. He'd create a dish, sandwich, combine different plates, etc. Our party of four ordered: * Porchetta & Eggs with Breakfast Potatoes $15 * French Toast with Strawberries and Whipped Cream $12 * Omelet with Breakfast Potatoes $10 * Chicken Cutlet Sandwich $16 I ordered the Porchetta & Eggs, and requested the eggs be prepared as an omelet. This dish was very tasty and nicely prepared. I also tried the fried chicken cutlet, which was hot, tasty and nicely executed. All plates were completely consumed, and all diners agreed the food was excellent. Our brunch was only $78 with tip, we thought the prices were very reasonable and the meal a great value. Back in December of 2025 I tried to purchase 3 one-hundred dollar gift cards for Christmas presents, I got online, found the restaurant cite and followed the link for gift cards. I made my purchase then checked with my bank to be certain that the transaction went through. i saw that i was only charged $240 and was confused so I went back to the restaurant cite. I found that I had mistakenly bought one gift instead of three and that what I actually bought was a downloadable or text able "card". I'm an elderly disabled woman without computer skills, no access to a printer, no email addresses and had never texted before. I found a phone number for the restaurant and spoke with a very pleasant woman named Gabriella. She was able to snail mail mew 3 individual gift cards for the correct amount and said it would take 5 business days to refund my original $240. I let two weeks go by without results before I called again. This time I spoke to Armando, a co=owner of the restaurant. I explained my situation to him and was told that he had hired a company to handle the sale of gift cards for the holidays, and he would personally call them to expediate my refund. He asked that I give him until Tuesday since it was a busy weekend and his time was short. I waited another 10 DAYS. Still no luck. I called again. Again, Armando said he would handle it He told me he would have a check in the mail for me by the end of the week. GUESS WHAT? No check. I called and soke to Armando yet again. This time he GUARENTEED me that I would have my money back within a few days because he would repay me from his own pocket ( what?? doesn't he own the business? Do you mean the company he hired keeps the money and the restaurant just gives food away?) THIS WENT ON FOR MONTHS! I finally called and said II was going to call the ATTORNEY General's office and file a complaint if he didn't rectify this immediately. The Attorney General's office sent a letter to Dolce & Salato giving them 30 days to respond. They did not. I was told I could take them to small claims court but that would cost more money and that is something I don't have. I live solely on a small SSI and live in subsidized housing. I had my daughter reach out to Armando via text and he didn't reply. My son, who is also a restaurant, coffee house and food truck owner reached out to Arrmando on my behalf. I was optimistic because my son Ryan had met Armando at an advertising/publicity event once. Armando has repeatedly failed to be an honest business owner and do the honorable thing. I was so excited to give these gift cards to my family because I had heard wonderful thing about the food. I spent money shouldn't have in hopes of making Christmas a little special. I will NEVER recommend this establishment to anyone ever again. I cannot support a business whose practices are so blatantly fraudulent and disreputable regardless of the quality of them cuisine. Best bite ever. From the first taste of the special duck filled ravioli, slivered apples and jam was an ascent to heaven! It knocked me back in my chair it was that tasty!! I have to admit that I intended to write this review months ago. Since then my impressions have only been reinforced. I had relatively high expectations when I first visited this restaurant. They were and continue to be met. The menu is authentic and very tasty (subjective, I know). The "vibe" is classy Italian. It's small enough to feel like your family is doing the cooking. (I only wish my family could cook this well.) I've enjoyed about 40% of the menu and many of the specials and have never been disappointed. I especially like Wednesday specials (I'll let you figure out why.) Armando and Mario are fantastic personalities that you should meet. This is a great date-night place for your first experience. During Splendor of Florence's Sott'Acqua Festival: A Tale of Two Cities Underwater from November 9-17, 2024, local chef Armando Bisceglia's new restaurant Dolce & Salato did a pop-up in the old Tilden-Thurber Building on Westminster Street that used to be the home of Yoleni's. There were rustic and elegant décor like statues and sculptures in Florence that brings an old-world feel to the dining experience. Also, a special wine window was available outside with an area with a few cocktail tables. The charm of a wine window evokes nostalgia of old Florence and in the way it reflects Florence's deep-rooted wine culture. I made a reservation through OpenTable for a table for 2 on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 5:30 pm. We arrived a little earlier, but were greeted by the host and seated right away. An authentic Tuscan menu was featured. A plate of bread in olive oil was brought to our table. The server was very friendly and asked for us to order appetizer, entrée, and dessert at one time. I ordered the gnocchi al tartufo and my husband had the ossobuco di maiale. The gnocchi was in a very creamy sauce and there were pieces of truffle. It was very good. The ossobuco di maiale was a huge piece of pork shank with carrots, celery, onion, potato, and vegetables. My husband enjoyed the ossobuco very much; it was so tender. For dessert, we shared the classic tiramisu. The tiramisu was light, fluffy, and no components were overpowering. I also had a glass of the Rossino Prosecco and it was such a great pairing. Overall, great food and a great night. I felt like I was in Florence with the overhead music, decor, food, wine, and service. I can't wait to visit Dolce & Salato soon. read more

My friends and I met here for brunch. We made a reservation but had to wait for over 45 minutes (outside) for our table because there was a very large party taking place. Luckily it was warm and sunny so we just chatted in the courtyard as we waited for our table. The owner (Chef Armando) was friendly (at first ) apologized profusely, and gave us each a free mimosa for waiting. If they have a scheduled Majhong party, I'm not sure why they bother taking reservations since it's very small inside. I'm sure the ladies in this Majhong party more than make up for not taking any other customers with all the drinks and food that was ordered. Once our table was ready, we were seated inside near the door that leads to the basement. It was really loud inside (due to the Majhong party) but we didn't really care because we were hungry. It was a pre-fixe brunch so the owner (Armando) came over with menus and when it came time to take our order he actually sat down at the table with us. Before he took our order, he was talking to us and trying to be a part of our conversation. It was odd but I wrote it off as he was tired and needed a minute. Our starters came fairly quickly, we got the fried zucchini blossom, misto board, and prosciutto and melon. Everyone really enjoyed their starters and we had high expectations for the rest of brunch. The time came to take our main dish order and again Armando sat down with us. He took our order and proceeded to chat with us some more. Our food was served. Two of us got the Porchetta( he raved about) and the other ordered the steak omelet. Armando sat down with us yet again. He started to complain about how tired he was, how annoying and stupid brunch was, and how annoying other customers were. I was surprised by this conversation because we do not know Armando and had never met him before. He asked how our food was and acknowledged we probably didn't even eat yet because he was sitting with us. He kept lamenting and we started to eat. Honestly, the food was okay. We both thought the porchetta was dry. It was close to closing time, so it's possible that the Porchetta were end cuts and had been sitting out under a heat lamp or in a low temperature stove. The person who ordered the omelet really enjoyed it and the toast points were really yummy. I could of probably eaten a basket of the toast with butter and been completely satisfied. After we were done with our meal, Amando sat down with us and started scrolling through his phone and talking to us. He told us they were out of everything for dessert except the tiramisu. He told the other man who worked there (I believe his name was Mario) to get our desserts and continued to sit with us. Mario brought out desserts - and to our surprise there was a small cannoli , lemon cake, and tiramisu on a tray to choose from. All the desserts were personal sized which was perfect after the large brunch we all had. I ate the cannoli and the shell was crispy and the pastry cream was good. Everyone else noted that the desserts were freshly made and really delicious. Brunch went downhill really fast when as we were eating dessert, Mario came up to our table and was just standing there staring at us. Amando was still sitting at our table talking to us. My friend asked if he needed something from us and he just stood there smiling. He reached for my arm and started caressing and slowly massaging it. My mouth was full so I couldn't say anything but I was so uncomfortable. I yanked my arm away, and he walked away before I could say anything. At this point I was beyond fed-up but I didn't want to cause a scene in the restaurant since it was filled with the Majhong party. The other people in my party were stunned and speechless. I asked for the check, we paid, and quickly left. When we were outside, my friends asked if I was okay and I was just still in shock so I said I was fine. They said that Mario had been staring at them from the kitchen the entire time and it made them feel uncomfortable. I told them they should of said something and we could of left after our starters. I doubt Mario or Amando would of pulled any of this non-sense if we were with our male significant others. I grew up in the kitchen industry. Someone in my family is a chef. They worked all over the Mass and RI in some of the most highly rated kitchens with other highly awarded chefs and I have NEVER seen or heard about this type of behavior. Armando crossed the line of unprofessionalism multiple times. A chef never comes out of the kitchen to sit with customers unless they are asked to or know the party. If a chef does sit with a party, it is brief because they are needed in the kitchen. If Armando was bored, he should of kept busy in the kitchen by cleaning or prepping for dinner. Mario is creepy and should not be interacting with the public if he cannot keep his hands to himself. I wish Armando the best - but I in good conscience can not recommend this restaurant. read more

I was recommended to go here for authentic Italian cuisine vs Italian American ... nothing wrong with that but having been to Napoli last summer, this was and intriguing suggestion. The restaurant is small, quaint, and very welcoming. It's a husband and wife run restaurant with authentic family recipes. If you enjoy Italian wine, you have to come here! Just like Bacco was when on Federal Hill, chef and owner Armando makes it feel like you are dining in his home kitchen. A more intimate space, the entire experience was everything you could want. The food, wine recommendations and service were all top notch. Every dish was executed to perfection, from the on menu cioppino to the special amatriciana featuring fresh tomato pasta. I am glad my favorite meals can now be found at Dolce. It is the best restaurant experience in Rhody and I guarantee you won't be dissapointed. I will be making visits from Boston regularly. One of our new RI favorite restaurants. Great knowledgable friendly staff, including our waiter Dan, who recommended some great wines to go with menu specials he also recommended (the lobster over crostini appetizer, a special that night was one of the best apps we have ever had!) The owner, Armando, came to our table several times to check on everything and made us feel so at home in his quaint but pretty restaurant. Our entrees did not let us down and were also excellent . Try the Polpetone !! Dan recommended it as a favorite and I can see why. We stayed afterwards and spoke with the owner who made us feel like life long friends who shared with us his very long restaurant experience and how this little gem came to be thru a collective effort of his wife, Dan, and his support chefs .
