I consider Marchetti's to be a RI staple Italian joint known for their large portions and impeccable service. I've been a bunch of times and always leave full and satisfied. Their prices really can't be beaten for what you get and their drinks are a great value as well. We recently went for a birthday dinner and had a quintessential Marchetti's experience. The food was spot on with perfectly al dente pasta and tasty proteins. We all loved our meals and had plenty to take home and feed on for the next few days. The service was extremely friendly and efficient. They had 2 servers that between them checked on us every 5 mins for 1.5 hours. We never once had to wait for assistance. Only downsides are that we made a reservation and when we arrived they still had to put tables together which wasn't really a big deal, just defeated the purpose of a reservation. The tables they used were different shapes so it made seating a little awkward and spread us apart further than necessary which made communication difficult. We were also seated in an area that did not have climate control and it was an unusually hot day. The sun was blinding, even through the shades and it got so hot that it became a little uncomfortable. I felt badly for the waitresses as they looked really hot and the few small fans were not keeping up. If you're looking for some good ol' RI Italian that gives you enough that you can dine on it for a few days, you cannot go wrong here!!

Another awesome meal at Marchetti's in Cranston! We were here early without reservations on a Friday night, and for right in. Beer, wine and some salad with bread and a delicious dipping oil started us off. I ordered gnocchi with house red sauce. The gnocchi were on the specials page with pink vodka sauce, but there was no issue switching out the sauce. Pillowy deliciousness. My husband also had a special- Chicken Milano, with chicken, red roasted peppers, olives, mushrooms, spinach over pasta. This place is always busy, tables are not empty for long, and a reservation is necessary, especially on the weekend. Just a note: the parking lot is very tight with giant piles of snow that are going no where fast. People trying to back up because you can't actually drive around the piles, and could be tight with cars trying to make it to the back of the lot with no where to go.

The food is good here this isn't my first review for this place . Avery was my waitress very friendly and helpful the fish was very good not overcooked and dry. The broccoli and cheese was good but the squash was too sweet for me. Her service was very good. This is a family setting ambiance come casual but eat classy.

Be prepared for a large portion and come hungry! Came for a birthday dinner for my brother, and I wish I came hungry~ although we didn't have reservations, we were seated quickly, and given a table for 5. For drinks I got a pumpkin Martin and a table of bread. Our server was so kind and very funny. My party all spoke Spanish, and she was so patient with waiting for me to provide translation to my parents, say happy birthday in her limited Spanish. Very cute and we thought she was so kind and friendly. We all ordered entrees and it was very large. The super seafood marinara was delicious. The chicken Alfredo also had the tomato marinara and just as delicious. I ordered the fried calamari, and it was crispy, but definitely order any sauces to get more flavor~ my martini was delicious and strong! Came with a cup to top my drink~ Very pleasant experience and wish I came hungrier~

I brought my brother here yesterday for his 60th Birthday. I did make reservations just to secure a table as this place is always full. We walked I. And were seated right away. Our waiter was Dino he got us Margaritas and water with lemon as we looked at the menu. He was attentive, showed us the specials and the brought over bread for the table upon asking. For appetizer we had calamari my brother liked it I would had preferred the option that brings peppers. We then got our salad which I thought was good perfectly tossed in dressing. For dinner my brother had one of the specials pasta with shrimp chicken and pruscetto I believe he really liked it. The portion was so much he took most of his plate home but hey it's Marchetti's they are know for big portions. I ordered the baked stuffed shrimp with a baked potatoes and squash my meal was good with the exception of the shrimp it just didn't taste right, tasted a bit odd. I had one and that was it. Our Margaritas were a really good size and they were not cheap with the alcohol yet not over loaded. For dessert my brother wanted the cheesecake and since Dino knew it was his birthday they came over sang happy birthday and even had one candle to blow out. The bill was reasonable for all that was ordered. Parking can be tough to find but we got lucky. Dino did a great job serving... the place it dimmed which gives it a relaxed ambiance

This place is a Rhode Island classic! Great Italian food and ennnnooormous portions. Fine dining it's not, but you can reliably get a delicious meal with the family at a reasonable price. Our server, Jillian, was an absolute gem. She was attentive without being overbearing and willing to meet every request with a gracious smile. Every single plate, from appetizer to main meal came out piping hot. Kudos to the kitchen and the runners for keeping this operation running tight. We loved our fried zucchini sticks for an app. Crispy fried and fresh served up with the house marinara. The salad, served family style, is dressed perfectly with just the right amount of dressing (made right in house!). Entrees? You cannot go wrong with the veal parm. It's so big it hangs off the plate. Tender and tasty with every bite. We also love the veal saltimbocca. Mushrooms, prosciutto, cheese and veal served up in a light wine butter sauce. The atmosphere is classy, cozy and welcoming. Spotless and clean. We enjoy it so much here and recommend it without a second thought.

Noticed people saying online that the portion sizes were huge and that was definitely the case!! I ate this penne with vodka sauce for three full meals. The carryout order came with a roll, which was nice. The pasta and sauce were both good, though I wish there was a bit more sauce overall. Definitely a great value for the price given the sheer amount of food!!

As everyone mentions, the portions here are enormous - it's a great bang for your buck. The food is also good, although heavy on the cream and oil. Cocktails leave somethings to be desired - my husband ordered an espresso martini and it seemed to be just Bailey's in a glass. I would stick with wine. The Rhode Island-style calamari is also a must-have. The service is quick and friendly. I came during Christmas break and it was very crowded. We had a reservation and still had to wait, which is why I knocked off one star. I like the outside patio. There are lots of TVs everywhere so that takes the ambiance down a notch. Otherwise, the ambiance is pretty great!

But upon tasting their food, it was clear, 'Viola' is just another Americanized Italian restaurant. We started with an a la carte order of: 'House made focaccia, roasted garlic spread, evoo, craft butter' This was fresh and tasty. We then shared the 'Caesar: traditional romaine hearts, foccaccia croutons, shaved pecorino cheese. classic caesar dressing.' This lacked any flavour, the romaine was cut into too small pieces, there was no hint of garlic or anchovy in the dressing. But the most disappointing dishes were the pasta dishes: 'Fettucini bolognese, house made, beef, pork, veal ragu, pecorino, basil, calabrian Chili.' 'Scampi viola, squid ink linguini, shrimp garlic, white wine, julienned vegetables, preserved lemon butter.' Although the pastas were freshly made, their textures were compromised; both pasta dishes were not 'al dente'. In fact the Scampi viola was drenched in a dark gravy and greasy. This is just not a very skilled preparation of pasta. A fresh pasta needs very little sauce, and should be dressed very simply so the 'textures' can be enjoyed. I ordered the: 'Zuppa di vongole: fresh little neck clams, vino biqnco, fresh herbs, crostini.' But this dish was replaced by a fried calamari dish. This was well prepared, actually the only star of the evening. This restaurant may succeed on its 'blandness' but will never attract the discerning diner who wants and appreciates authentic Italian cuisine. ~tiaotse~

For some reason, this restaurant just hasn't been on my radar. I was craving a good woodfired pizza and there aren't too many restaurants that make me a Neapolitan style pizza. While theirs is not officially Neapolitan, it's pretty damn close. I am a fan of Margherita pizza with prosciutto and heaping ton of basil. So that's what I ordered as well as some cocktails. I've now been three times in the past month, and I've gotten to try several different drinks on their menu, but I never deviate from the pizza. The pizza is a little on the small side, I would like it to be a little bit bigger, but it is absolutely delicious. It has hit the mark every single time. The sauce has excellent flavor, it's clear they use a simple recipe with San marzano tomatoes which is a staple for Neapolitan pizza . The prosciutto is good quality, as is the mozzarella. My mom had the chicken Parm and very much enjoyed it. The service here is truly excellent. I've had three different servers and each time they were incredibly attentive, consistently checking in and making sure my water was refilled. I drink a ton of water, and a lot of times at restaurants I have to try to flag someone down or even go to the bar to get a refill and that has never happened and I doubt will in my experience here. They have a decent wine list and a great cocktail list. This is one of the few restaurants that has lavender simple syrup, which is one of my favorite things ever because I am a huge fan of lavender gin cocktails. The two purple drinks pictured are a lavender gin cocktail that I always request and it was made wonderfully each time. I've also sampled the espresso martini with half Baileys and half Frangelico and it was one of the best espresso cocktails I've had. Finally, I tried the pretty in pink, which is on their current cocktail menu. The drink itself tasted fine, it has lavender in it, which is a favorite as well as gin, but the glass that it served in is more like a whiskey on the rocks glass. It would have been better in a coupe or martini glasses, which is what I would expect one given the name, for presentation purposes, but also functionality. It has Aperol foam on top, and due to the glass and the fact that there was ice in it, the foam kind of dripped down the glass and made it very sticky and unpleasant to drink. I ended up asking for a straw which helped a lot, but I would recommend to the bar to change this to a coupe glass because it would be more functional, and the ice is not needed. The drink itself had a nice taste, and I would order it again with some adjustments. The bathrooms have always been kept clean every time I've utilized them. When you walk in, there is first a bar area which has ample seating and high tops, and then the main dining room, which is minimally decorated but classy looking. The kitchen is an open concept so you can see into it while you eat. Avvio is going to be a monthly if not weekly stop for me. Highly recommend.

In a world where restaurants seem to either reinvent themselves every six months or completely fall apart after a few good years, Antonio's just keeps doing what it does well. Good food, solid portions, professional service, and that old-school Italian restaurant atmosphere that Rhode Island somehow still manages to preserve better than almost anywhere else. My wife and I went recently for dinner and had one of those meals where everything just flowed the way you want it to. We started with the fried calamari, which was excellent. Light, crispy, not drowning in grease, and actually seasoned properly. A lot of places phone calamari in because it's such a standard appetizer, but this tasted fresh and well executed. The hot peppers mixed in gave it a nice kick without taking over the plate. We also got a couple espresso martinis because it feels almost illegal to eat Italian food in Cranston without at least considering one. For dinner, I went with the chicken parmigiana after hearing people rave about it for years, and honestly, they weren't wrong. The chicken was tender, perfectly breaded, and the sauce had that slow-cooked flavor that tastes like somebody's grandmother has been guarding the recipe since the Reagan administration. My wife ordered the seafood fra diavolo, which came loaded with shrimp, clams, mussels, and enough garlic to keep vampires away for the rest of the week. Spicy without being ridiculous. The portions were generous too. Not "food challenge" oversized, just satisfying. Dessert was tiramisu for the table because at that point you're already committed to the experience. Really good balance of espresso flavor and mascarpone without feeling overly heavy. Sometimes tiramisu can feel like eating sweet drywall. This wasn't that. Service was also great all night. Attentive without hovering. Drinks stayed filled, plates disappeared quickly, and the pacing of the meal felt relaxed but organized. You never felt rushed, but you also weren't sitting there wondering if your waiter had moved to another state midway through dinner. The place itself has that classic Rhode Island Italian restaurant energy. Comfortable, a little lively, people talking loudly across tables, waiters who look like they've worked there forever, and the smell of garlic and red sauce hitting you the second you walk in. It's not trendy or trying to become some minimalist foodie experiment. Thank God for that.

We started the night with some seasonal cocktails. The spiced pear old fashioned was to die for. Complete with a solitary large cube and balanced flavors it was delicious. Our table had veal parm, linguine and white clam, and lasagna. Each dish was fresh and executed perfectly. It's a garlic lovers paradise but never overpowering, in a way any Nonna would approve. For dessert we split a slice of limoncello cake. The cake was so light and fluffy it was like eating air. Even the frosting was light enough where it didn't feel like we were stuffing ourselves to finish it. It's a smaller place so it gets busy quickly and can be a little loud.
