Really loved checking out Ciao Ciao. I went in on a Tuesday and every seat was taken, so definitely make a reservation. When we went it happened to be restaurant week so we took advantage of that. I could eat that chop salad everyday! It was SO tangy and delicious, the meatballs and polenta fries was also a top notch appetizer. For my main I got the short rib and shared the Lumache Rigate-- delicious! Generally if something has nduja I'm going to order it. For dessert I sampled both the olive oil cake and the tiramisu. I'd get both again, but the tiramisu was a touch too soggy for me. Our server was also wonderful. I look forward to heading back again soon! read more

5 Stars for fresh-made pasta, a fantastic bar program, and excellent service in a picture-perfect location. In the week I spent nearby I went to Ciao Ciao twice. It was THAT good. A few things that can't be missed: Drinks: - Any of their Espresso cocktails. They pull espresso shots for each one to order. I hate when places use cold brew instead, so this was a BIG plus! - The Al Italia cocktail: Gin, Elderflower, Vermentino White Wine, Club Soda, lemon peel. Need I say more? Well, let me tell you this is a beautifully crafted, balanced sipper! - A classic gin martini (ask for blue cheese stuffed olives, OR their other special ones). They stuff the olives in-house (none of this bottled junk) and they feel like a meal on their own! Food: - Polpetta ala Nona: Meatballs with polenta fries. The meatballs were ROBUST and tasted like they were made with love (and time). And always love a polenta fry. - Melanzane Al Sugo - Ovals of fried sweet Japanese eggplant with tomato sugo, parmesan, and basil. I wish I could get eggplant crispy at home, but wow do they get it right. Worth sharing this small dish. - Carpaccio di Manzo- Thin-sliced raw filet of beef, arugula greens shaved ricotta salata, capers, lemon aioli, shallots, cold pressed olive oil, sea salt, focaccia crisps. This could definitely feed multiple people for a light app, OR you could go all out and make this your main. Its massive and truly a highlight of our visit! - ANY of their house-made pastas. I tried at least 4 of them and there were no misses. It turns out making your own fresh pasta in-house is a game changer. Truly exceptional texture as well as sauces that carried a deep flavor. - Roasted Carrots with Salsa Verde: This side is worth a try. It's savory and the texture on the carrots is just right. This place was packed on a Friday evening! I was both excited for them and sad for me, but we ended up finding some seats at the bar. The bar menu has something for everyone! I didn't take a picture of our favorite drink of the night, which was Olivia (very fitting!) and it was basically an amaretto sour but better! The focaccia is not to be missed, it seemed almost every party had ordered it. I went with the classic pasta and sauce - the paccheri. My cousin got the cod and praised it immensely. From the moment I looked at the Ciao Ciao menu, I knew it was going to be good. Starting with the drink menu, I was intrigued by 'The Pasta Water" which is a negroni made with a pasta water ice cube. My friends and I were staying at an Air BNB nearby and for my last night in RI I wanted to walk to go somewhere nearby and enjoy a good meal with good drinks. From the moment we walked in to Ciao Ciao it was a vibe. The three of us sat at the bar and our bartender, Matt, was super welcoming and friendly. I love a negroni - so I started with the pasta water. I loved it, it also had basil which was refreshing. There are two ingredients I love which I feel are underutilized on the menu - polenta and bottarga. I was elated when after perusing the menu I realized Ciao Ciao had BOTH! We started with the meatballs and polenta fries. The meatballs were super tender and the sauce was a great vehicle for dipping the polenta fries. We also ordered: +Melanzane Al Sugo aka Eggplant +Beef Carpaccio - a must. Lovely balance between the carpaccio and the arugula salad with capers and lemon. Yum. +Paccheri - their take on a pomodoro +Scampi Mafaldine - this is the dish that had both shrimp and bottarga - perfect umami finish. +Roasted Carrots Ciao Ciao makes their pasta in house, and it is great. I loved that they also offer certain house-made gluten free pastas upon request for certain dishes. It's hard to find an Italian restaurant that not only offers gluten-free dishes, but also makes those gluten free pastas in house. Ciao Ciao opened just 10 weeks ago but it appears to be a neighborhood fave. We arrived early, but around 6:30 pm the restaurant was buzzing and the bar was completely full. We were lucky enough to meet the owner, Adam, who was walking around ensuring everyone was having a great experience. I explained to him my love for polenta and bottarga and he graciously brought us a surprise polenta dish on the house. I loved it! I would say this spot is vegetarian friendly - with a variety of dishes that are veggie forward from the antipasti to the primi. Overall, I loved my experience at Ciao Ciao. It reminded me why quality neighborhood bars and restaurants are the heartbeat of any neighborhood, and this one is definitely lucky to have Ciao Ciao. If I lived in the area, I would be a regular. I visited once already and came back again. When I came the first time I thought to myself, this place is only going to get better each and every visit. Boy, was I right!!!! Just wow! Can I give them 6 stars? I visited with Meg M and Steve (aka Willow) was our server. He took great care of us! The cocktail menu is just so impressive, but makes decisions harder! He explained some of the sections to us and gave recommendations. I had the hot pink Paloma, which had dragon fruit and mezcal in it!!!!! For our starters we had the focaccia bread, which comes with fontina cheese and Calabrian chili oil. I can't have dairy and Steve made sure to bring out marinara sauce for me to have with my bread. We also had the Japanese eggplant which WOW!!!! Next time I come, im asking for that eggplant on top of pasta for my dinner! It was soooooooo good! They prepared it for me without cheese on that too. For dinner, I ordered the clam pasta dish and my friend had the Sunday supper. Her dinner was huge, enough food for 2-3 meals! Both meals were fantastic. I had wine with my dinner and Steve suggested a red which was fantastic. My friend had an Aperol sour drink which was shaken in the coolest machine. For dessert we had lemon sorbet and olive oil cake. My friend had an espresso and it smelled amazing. Truly such an amazing experience. Finally checked out Ciao Ciao finally with Taylor S and wow! Can I give them 6 stars please?!? We started with some beautiful cocktails, and they were so refreshing and tasty. Lexi helped us with some ideas, Steve (Willow) made sure we picked drinks we would love, and Andrew made sure they were sooooo good! What a team! We were convinced we needed two appetizers, and Steve was right. We really did! The eggplant app (Melanzane Al Sugo) was AMAZING and I can't stress how you must try it! Taylor has a dairy allergy so they went out of their way to give us sides for her to go with our focaccia bread. They were so accommodating! For mains, Taylor got a seafood pasta dish (Chitarra alle Vongole) , and she loved it! The plate was clean when she was done with it! I got the Sunday Macaroni which is basically enough for three meals! Taylor got some Italian red wine and I enjoyed a house made sour that is made in this badass shaker machine. I was obsessed! We also may have ordered dessert---the Ciao Ciao Olive Oil Cake is a must! We were pretty full, but I had as espresso before we left. Adam, the owner checked in on us throughout the night. You can see all the effort, love and pride that goes into the restaurant. That is all seen through the amazing staff---Lexi, Steve and Andrew took such great care of us from start to finish! I also have to add (to this never ending review) that the little touches of art from the menu to the walls to the stunning bathrooms really make this place unique! We tried Ciao Ciao for the first time last week. We got the specials of zucchini flowers and the lobster gnocchi, both were our two fav things we ordered. We also got the cacio e pepe which was also very good. Realistically, the pici (Cacio e Pepe) was pretty expensive compared to the portion. We weren't very full from it which is intense from an almost $30 dish with no meat in it. The server was so so lovely and the service was stellar. The inside is adorable and nicely put together. You can valet, but there's not really a need for it as you can just find street parking pretty easily. We liked it a lot and will come back to try more from their menu. I'd recommend it to others and am looking forward to our next meal there. read more

My wife and I came across an internet post about a new restaurant called Ciao Ciao that recently opened on Hope Street and it highlighted co-owner Adam Stabile. We had become friendly with Adam through our many visits to Providence Oyster Bar over the years. Having experienced Adam's delicious cocktails and great hospitality first hand we were excited to try his restaurant. We decided to stop by on Sunday afternoon for lunch and as soon as you walk in you feel a really relaxed, cool vibe emanating from the restaurant. We were seated right in front of a side door which was kept open which gave us a nice breeze and a view of the active shopping and dining scene on that section of hope street. We started with the Maine mussels in a Calabrian chili, white wine, tomato broth which were absolutely delicious. My wife had the swordfish special with heirloom carrots and roasted potatoes. One bite and she was raving about it to the point where she insisted I try a bite and she was not wrong. It was the best swordfish either of us have ever had. I had the cacio e pepe and it was exceptional, the pasta was cooked perfectly. We finished the lunch off with some lemon sorbet. The attention to detail, in the whole operation, is just as completely impressive. The menu is new, and fresh and unique. He and his staff make tons of pasta every day each in a most imaginative shape, and each designed to compliment the exact dish for which they are meant. We had the pleasure of visiting Ciao Ciao for the first time today. Outstanding is an understatement! Everything from the beautiful atmosphere to amazing food to stellar service made for a memorable evening. We had the delicious arancini Alla Ragu, Rotelli pasta, vodka sauce with lobster and Brasato "braised beef short rib over risotto".Added a delicious garden salad, creamy parmesan spinach and to go desserts of Tiramisu and Pistachio Cannoli. This place is going to be great. Service was a 10/10. Only nit-pick: the drink menu is a little too long and could be organized better. We skipped ordering wine after our martinis because flipping through so many pages felt like a chore (small detail, but it matters!). Artichokes were awesome. Ciao Chopped had a lot of potential. Ours was missing chickpeas and the dressing was a little heavy, making it slightly too tart with the pickled veggies. Still fresh and I'd order it again. Cacio e Pepe was incredible. Ciao Ciao. Wow Wow. We arrived at 5:30, hoping to have a cocktail and check out "the vibe" in order to possibly make a reservation for later in June. The house was packed, every table reserved, and we were informed we could wait in case two seats opened at the bar. Super-server Steve to the rescue. He overheard our plight and directed us to a linen-cloth high-top in his section, saying he had a reservation for 6:30. Fine! One star, We ordered martinis (generous) and meatballs with polenta fries. The meatballs were delicious pillows served with a soft, silky tomato sauce (I know, gravy!). Heavenly. Two more stars. We enjoyed friendly conversation with Steve and our high=top neighbors. Another star. Next, a conflation of events: it was approaching 6:30; two seats opened at the bar; Steve scooped up our drinks and, in an instant, two linen place settings appearedfor us. Yup, another star. Thank you Steve. We ordered light and airy focaccia , served with a creamy alfredo (?) sauce and a very tasty eggplant app with ample tomato gravy (sauce?). I'm losing track of the stars but you get the picture. Another pair of martinis from the pair of virtuoso barkeeps, Ryan and Desiree. It must be said that, although the bar was slamming, Ryan and Desiree kept pace with their orders and added a warm personal touch. Throughout our stay, the owner was hands-on - greeting, schmoozing, clearing, serving and even making drinks (maybe to keep his hand in?). What an experience! Bravo! For lunch, the Chicken Milanese sandwich was easily my favorite: perfectly crispy, flavorful, and just really satisfying. To start, we had delicious meatballs with a skimpy portion of polenta fries, and sausage with a skimpy portion of beans and broccoli rabe. My short rib was delicious, not too salty as it is sometimes served. His spaghetti with clams left him wanting - more clams and more flavor. They brought out a giant bowl for shells and the dish had all of 3, count 'em 3, clams. The worst part was very little flavor. The waitress was lovely but needs to learn about pacing, as our entrees came while we were enjoying the apps, and the table is not that big. Small portions for an Italian place.
