There's a huge range of foodstuffs for sale to take home as well as fresh baked breads, salads, pastries, deserts, savouries and more. There's also a fantastic Italian Vespa on display inside. The French vanilla flat white coffee I had was quite possibly the best I've had in a VERY long time, and at $3.40, cheaper than a lot of other places. I also tried the almond tart which was impossible to resist, and I was not disappointed, it was incredibly delicious and not overly sweet, just right. Overall, this is a great place for a coffee and cake stop, or even a coffee stop. And while you're at it, grab some fresh bread or other things to take home! I'll definitely be back.

The all you can eat pizza is an unusual concept because you don't have to finish the pizza to get a new one. We ate a half a seafood pizza before moving on to another and finished half of that and the leftovers were put in a box for us to bring home! You don't really order anything its more of a "get what you are given" scenario which is good for us indecisive people because you don't have to agonise over the menu trying to make a decision. Desserts are baked in house and the snowflake/hazelnut one we had was amazing but again they just bring out whatever dessert they want and you just enjoy. To top is all off the house wine is pretty cheap so a very inexpensive night out!

While waiting, I get to observed the place more closely. It's a minimalistic themed place and despite being crowded, they get to maintain the cleanliness of the place. So we've waited and waited. It's been 10 minutes and still no food on the table. Me and hubby considered the busy-ness of the place. I just thought, might as well wait and have good quality food instead of a fast but cheapo finish. Our iced chocolate was starting to melt and that's when I began counting the time. Approximately 15 to 20 minutes passed before food arrived (Iced chocolate no more lol lol). But we had plenty of time so it was alright. Mind you, the presentation was impressive with the seafood platter. The spaghetti bolognese looks simply appetizing too. Unfortunately, the taste wasnt at par to the look. My hubby was really disappointed with the food. You see he loves his spaghetti, and this one frustrated him soooo much. LOL He finds it bland and taste like minced meat caserrole or something. He just can't taste the sphagetti-ness of its sauce. I tried it and it was ok but it reminds me more of a Villie's meat pie filling than spaghetti. Also, the sauce is not your creamy pasta but a watery one. The seafood platter is not bad though but not outstanding either. The ingredients are just the usual fish n chips taste--- not oily but bland. The garlic prawn is ok. I like the pepper squid-- just the right saltiness to it. I like the mayo dip and the salad. Like i said, it's ok but not something I would crave for the second time. If I'll summarize our experience here. It's not too bad compared to the usual fastfood. They have big servings but food is more visually appealing than its taste. If we'll come back, I would probably try their steak. But in Elizabeth, it is a welcome change from food court rubbish, or the culinary suicide of McDonalds and KFC. The decor is modern and pleasant, the tables and floor are clean. The food is average, but not bad. Same with the coffee and tea. Nothing bad to say, but nothing pops out as showing exceptional flair to catch a foodies eye or palate. It relies on "all you can eat" promotions to fill the restaurant on slow nights, and for Sunday breakfasts. As already stated, a product of its environment. It does have the advantage of being surrounded by sub-par chain food outlets, and an American pub opposite with a reputation for awful food. Compared to these options, Cafe Acqua does well. An example of the standards is a coffee a friend ordered, the ceramic mug sported a deep chip right where you place your mouth (steel teeth are all the rage in the north it seems....) There is no way the barista could not have seen it when making the beverage, and when I returned it to the bar, rather than make a replacement, the coffee was poured into a replacement cup and handed back. I doubt the mug was thrown out... So, if in the Elizabeth City Centre, you certainly can do worse. Just don't expect much, and you'll be happy.

I snapped a picture of it while it was still being fitted out, a large pink window with the words 'Chocolate Taperia' and a cardboard sign on the door saying 'coming soon'. To tell you the truth I was excited, I'm always excited to try a new dessert bar, but I was also preparing myself to be disappointed. See, all I'd seen was this large pink window that made me think this was going to be a bit too sterile but cutsey to have that real dessert bar charm. Enter last Sunday night, and the pink window is now joined by a few rustic chairs and tables, and the door now opens to a beautifully lit wooden room with antique style chairs and gorgeous wood work. Hello Chocolate Taperia - I think I'm in love. The menu is hispanic, with delicious desserts from Spain and Latin America. It was created by chef Jean-Claude de Toulouse, and he popped over to our table to explain a bit about the menu. It was a nice touch. The Sweet Tapas platters are great for sharing, but try and tackle one yourself and you'll end up wrapping biscuits up in a napkin to take home for later. They sure can be filling. There are 'warm temptations' perfect for winter, and some seasonal desserts. Chocolate Taperia do a good job at pulling off the whole package. Nothing is half arsed (excuse my french), they've put 100% into the menu, the setting, and the service. I'm always rooting for a dessert place that does more than throw together some crepes, waffles, and a fondant and call it a menu. So I hope Chocolate Taperia gets it's name out there as a firm contender on the dessert scene.

The service has been wonderful both times I have been here - friendly, attentive (sometimes a little too much) and always able to manage a large crowd of people (of which there is always one around). A menu of hot and iced chocolates coming in orange, mint, chilli flavours combined with South American herbal teas, coffee and sodas are a nice introduction but lets be realistic you're here for those 2 pages of chocolate based desserts on the menu. I normally pick a chocolate tapas platter to share which changes on a monthly basis just so I can try combinations of dark sticky chocolate with churros or tarts with macarons and mini mousse pots. "Presentation" is the one word I would use to describe the essence of this place. From the carefully decorated dishes to the interior and the staffs manner, it is definitely worth adding to the "best dessert bars of Adelaide," list.

While I would normally be very scathing of food not cooked to request, the server muted my concerns and to be honest, watching her greeting other guests and going about her work really made the imperfect food seem irrelevent. I guess that proves it, if you provide great service, you can get away with a lot!
