I am new to town and needed to find a new stylist! Dolce Lusso is an Aveda salon which is what my long time stylist and colorist used so I went for it. Nice staff and when the stylist I was scheduled with had a family emergency right before my appt, the rest of the team shuffled clients and assisted each other to get everyone cared for. Brittany did my cut and color and I enjoyed the visit and love the results. I had brought the formula my Atlanta guru used, we discussed not doing low lights this time and I love how it turned out; it's much like I'm used to! It's nice to have one stylist who both cuts and colors, and Brittany listened and created, and I will be back. read more

Overpriced & Unclear Pricing - Would Not Return I recently visited Dolce Lusso and was very disappointed with their lack of pricing transparency. I had a root touch-up, express highlights (just a few face-framing pieces), and a haircut, yet my total came to $270 plus a $50 tip. Their website lists much lower base prices for new talent stylists, and when I booked, I was told my stylist was "new talent." So why was I charged significantly more? The only reason I even got highlights was because the stylist couldn't match my roots and had to ask another stylist for help. My haircut took no weight out, so when I wear it curly, it's poofy, and when straight, it's blocky and uneven. Definitely not worth the price. They also charge an extra $30 for a blow-dry, even though my hair was already shampooed after coloring. I asked to leave with it wet to avoid the charge. This was my second visit, and both times they never provided an itemized receipt upfront. When I checked my first visit receipt, I found a $39 charge for a "run-through detailing primer" I was never informed about and a $35 gloss that my stylist applied without mentioning the extra cost. Cierra is a skilled stylist, especially for being newer, but the website prices are misleading, and their pricing structure is unclear. If I had known the real cost, I never would have booked. Would not return based on pricing transparency alone. read more

Had a terrible experience at the Market Common salon beginning with stylist Susan White putting drastic high & low lights in my daughter's hair, then charging her $300 on top of it. It looked absolutely awful. Requested a refund, however that particular salon begged us for a chance to correct it. Had a consultation with "senior stylist" Dustin Putnam, & booked for a correction color the next day. However, had to reschedule due to work commitment. Salon gave his first available appointment nearly 3 weeks later! ONE HOUR prior to that appointment, the salon called to say they would have to CHARGE us for this appointment because the appointment was so far past the original appointment date. I told them this was the first available date THEY gave US! They refused to budge & I immediately demanded a FULL REFUND! The staff at the Market Common location was rude, argumentative & completely unwilling to compromise. They just stated they would need to contact their owner, Bob, who was at a different location in NC, & would call me back later. I researched & found the owners, Bob & Christy DeLong. I began calling the other locations in NC to personally speak with the owners myself. I spoke to a lovely, empathetic, helpful lady named Anna at the Park Road salon, who asked me to send her an email & attached picture of my daughter's hair & she would forward to Mr DeLong. She stated they would try to assist from their location as much as possible. Their manager Realynn replied that they forwarded my email to the owner & Mr DeLong would be in contact with me shortly. Sure enough, he called me & long story short was very apologetic & issued a 100% refund to my daughter! We cannot thank Mr DeLong & his employees Anna & Realynn from his Park Road location enough. They showed care & compassion, which we truly appreciated! I gave a 3 star rating as an average, 0 star to Market Common location only, & 5+ star rating to Mr DeLong, Anna & Realynn at the Park Road Salon! read more

I have never had a bad experience at this salon! I used to come here a few years ago before I moved out of state, and on whim decided to get my hair cut while in town - my hair desperately needed it. I was able to get in somewhat last minute with Melanie for a cut and style. She did phenomenal! I am always anxious when going to the salon and she made it a breeze. I showed her the photos of the bangs inspo I had saved on Pinterest and she gave me exactly what I wanted. She also walked me through all of the products that she used and explained what they do - without making me feel forced to buy them (although I do love Aveda products and they DO work wonderfully!). She was very kind and friendly and made me feel at ease the entire time. I'm super shy and can be socially awkward at times (which adds to my salon anxiety!) but she was very laid back and didn't make me feel weird for not talking much lol. I will ALWAYS recommend this salon and will for sure be planning trips back down to continue getting my hair done here. I currently live in Los Angeles (where spas are a dime a dozen) and the facial I received from Kara was something worth coming back to Myrtle for. LIKE....EVERY. WEEK. I've been going here off and on for about 5 years! I've never had a bad haircut or dye job and they always listen attentively to what I want. If there's a style I like they'll give suggestions on how to make it work with my hair. They have slain fine a color correction in me once before and it was worth every penny. I've gone to a handful of other places but I always end up back here because i trust them. I was there just a few days ago and Ramona was my stylist and put the prettiest multi colored brunette highlights in my black dyed hair! I just needed something to perk it up. She also gave a great trim without taking off my length as I've been growing my hair out a few years now. I will always recommend this place and haven't met a bad stylist there yet. Went to salon and have used Aveda salons regularly so I expected this one to be great as well. I asked for regular foil highlights and was given a popular "hombre " style at the time instead. Was mortified! Then the 2 "pro" stylists which were going to fix it, turned my hair an ugly orange -red ALL OVER. Git nowhere with staff or owner so I sued and WON in court. This happened over many appointments so DO NOT ever feel like you cannot do anything about appointments that go wrong! Was going to put it in Sun News but manager didn't want to be sued by owner. Never think because you are in a high-end salon that you cannot fight back. Real shame it took all that time and effort just to get my money back!! read more

I recently had a hair appointment and very happy with the hair , the only thing I am disappointed in is that they no longer use hair rollers, I don't like blowed out hair style so won't go back ,but I do use their products and are happy with them , seems kind of silly for a hair salon not to offer rollers, I am sure I am not the only one not happy about it, time will tell. read more

I am satisfied with my trim, however, a consult and dry trim at $60.00 is far too high a cost for that service. To be fair, my stylist, Gwen was recommended by reception when I stopped in to make my appointment describing the type of mop I have on my head. I had asked about cost and services, the receptionist stated that the cost for Gwen's services would include a consult, wash/dry, cut and style and would start at $60.00. Gwen and I agreed that a dry trim would do the trick. She asked if I wanted her to wash/dry/style but I declined having had washed it the night before. I should have agreed to accept those services while I was in her chair. I would have had I known the minimum cost for her services was $60.00. Also, I should have mentioned my dismay at checkout for being charged full price. The total was $70.00 including a voluntary $10 tip that I placed in an envelope for Gwen. I thought I would have offended her had I not given her a tip. I absolutely want to point out that Gwen was very pleasant and attentive and knew what she was doing with my "mop". I do not believe I will be going back for a $60 dry trim. read more

I had an updo done at Dolce Lusso for the Marine Corps ball. I relied mainly on reviews when choosing where to go, and Dolce Lusso looked like a good choice. I initially thought our ball started at 6:00 and so made the appointment for 2:45; the ball actually started at 5:00. The staff was willing to move the appointment up earlier last minute though, which I appreciated. My dress kind of had a vintage, old Hollywood style feel to it, so that was what I was aiming for with my hair and makeup. I brought in a picture of a specific updo, which I showed to my stylist. I didn't necessarily need it to look exactly the same, but I wanted it to be as close as possible. Well, my updo ended up looking nothing even remotely similar to what I had asked for. It DID have the vintage look and feel that I was looking for, and it WAS gorgeous, so I didn't complain. I got compliments on it all night. So she definitely did a good job, I just was a little disappointed that it wasn't really what I asked for. read more

I've never had a bad haircut, until I went here. I had my haircut with a stylist at Dolce Lusso a couple weeks ago and I hated it then, hate it now. She butchered my hair with all sorts of unevenness and cut it way too short, shorter than what I had asked for, and shorter than what i showed her in the picture. Although she was friendly, the hair stylist did not know how to cut hair. Not only that but she chopped a chunk off my hair on the side that was about 4 - 5 inches shorter than all the other hair on my head, even she realized she had made a big mistake... this was because she didn't know how to use the thinning shears. You would think that was hair cutting 101 in beauty school. Luckily the staff felt bad for me so another stylist took over and tried to salvage what she had done but this led to her having to cut it even shorter to make up for the uneven cut the original stylist had given me. Three and a half hours later they still charged me, and I tipped the second stylist. What a disaster!!! Cute salon though. read more

Awesome, Awesome experience. My two hour massage with Kalena was terrific...didn't know a two massage could feel sooo good. The massage pressure was just right and my body felt totally great for the rest of the day. She even gave some tips on how to keep my muscles loose and flexible. Check-in and check-out was a breeze with Taren and Maria; they really looked out for me, made me feel welcome and I am really looking forward to going back for another visit. I've been going here for at least 5 years and I now live 2.5 hours away.. I still drive down! I've tried other salons, but none of them compare to the girls at Dolce Lusso. I have seen Lindsey and Jessica, but the great thing about this salon is that you can feel safe with any of their stylists. All of them are talented, take their work seriously, are artistic, trendy, and they stay on top of new techniques. Most of them have had extensive training. I've had ombre, regular highlights, dramatic blonde highlights, lowlights, and everything else done here. I have always been 1000% happy. I have very long hair, so my cut is a layered v-cut that's very blended since I wear it straight. That is quite possibly one of the hardest cuts, because every detail of the hair shows. My haircuts have been flawless every single time. I'm very picky and have NEVER found another salon that I like. This one stands out! Walked in with my husband to get a haircut and everyone was super nice!! Rachel was the sweetest and kindest, she asked what was the special occasion and we told her it's his birthday. She wished him a happy birthday and gave him a complimentary trim. She did an amazing job! My hubby always gets a clean blade but since it's not a barbershop she went in with the clippers and we were surprised she actually was able to leave it super clean. I have happily been going to this salon for 3 years. Besides the unusually snobby atmosphere I have for the most part had good experiences. Until a month ago when my usual stylist could not keep our apt due to an extended illness, I had to book with someone else. Our first apt went well, the next one, I asked for darker low lights, she told me she didn't have time to do that. She quickly covered my roots put a gloss on and put me in the back room to process for over 45 min. I didn't think my hair would damage since she said it was just a gloss and a darker root color. Well I lost over half of my hair that day. I found out she put a number 11 developer when I usually get a 3, she left it on too long it damaged and destroyed my hair totally. My regular stylist came back looked at my hair pulled the paper work and explained what happened. At least I got answers, I spoke with the manager that day. I was actually nice, I just wanted at least my money back from that day I spent $150 to get my hair ruined. She was extremely rude which made the whole situation even worse. She said they could do 1 treatment and I could not get my money back. After talking further after she insulted my intelligence by telling me she cant give me my hair back at least 4 different times. I never asked for that, I never raised my voice, I never spoke ill to her, after all that she agreed to my next service being on them. She should have offered me a keratin treatment at least to help the damage and given me my money back, she should have also been kind. This manager makes the entire salon look bad. She is very rude, very uncaring. My family and friends all go to this salon and have for years. She should have taken that into consideration. My advice don't risk ruining your hair by going here. read more

I'm giving this 1 star review on stylist June. I went in today, and watched so many wonderful interactions between stylists and their clients, and I was so excited. Then, my stylist, was 10 minutes late (so I went to the front desk asking if the wait was going to be much longer), then I heard June call my name. She seemed rushed and frustrated from the beginning. The greeting alone was enough for me to turn the other way. Yet I stayed, and began my pre booked consultation. I started out with some haircut inspirations and even acknowledged how badly my hair needed this. I came with photos for my haircut and flexibility with my color (it needed a change). She rushed me and said "let's just focus on this color, your hair is damaged and it definitely can't take any more hilites (which I totally understood because it's been through the ringer). I was open to suggestions but she instead made me feel like I was gross, that my hair was beyond repair. I felt like no matter what, she wasn't going to be open to touching it and then she verified my suspicions. She said I don't have enough time for any of this, I have clients after you. If anything I could squeeze in a haircut. (I was scheduled for a full head highlight, toner and cut) I wanted to jump out of the chair, but my desperation to feel beautiful again kept me in her chair. I showed her some textured bobs and even suggested that the 6 inches we were taking off would help with the damage. She said "umm ya maybe" as she touch my hair like it was a pile of worms. At that point I couldn't take it any longer. She made it clear that my color was ugly, my hair was damaged beyond repair and that the haircut COULD happen but she wasn't really interested in hearing my "loves and hates about haircuts ...ie:what I want vs what I wouldn't want) I thought I was going to a professional ... that would help me no matter how bad my hair situation is. That she would offer suggestions or make me feel optimistic about the experience. Not tear me down, and insist that she doesn't have the time. I guess I expected compassion and love, what Hoerst always taught. I expected Aveda values and beliefs but what I got left me crying. In tears, I called my husband to come pick me up. I felt ugly, like I couldn't be fixed. I'll post a photo of my hair currently so you all can see that it isn't infact, damaged beyond repair, and that a simple suggestion of a good cut, lowlites for dimension (maybe a shadow root) and toner could help. My 13 years of being a hairstylist has taught me this. I own my own little hair studio (sole proprietor) in Wisconsin. Today, I wanted a "treat yo self" day. But I got treated like I was not worth her time or efforts. My feelings are more hurt because of the way she went about her consultation. It's sad, really. read more

I was in a wedding in Myrtle Beach and originally the bride had arranged for a friend to do our hair (3 of us). This friend backed out last minute so I contacted Dolce Lusso one week before the wedding. Their Bridal Coordinator Ashley was so helpful and was able to accommodate us even though there were already two other bridal parties booked that day. Our hair was done by Ramona and she did an amazing job. It was extremely windy that day but our hair held up! She was also just a really sweet person. Would definitely recommend! read more

Terrible experience, but it may have been to the lack of enthusiasm from the hair dresser, Shawna. I barely got a hello from her which put a damper on my mood initially. I then proceeded to tell Shawna how I wanted my hair. I was looking to start my journey with silver/gray hair. I have dark hair so I knew it was going to be a process. She barely touched my hair and said that she would not be able to do anything to my hair because it is so damaged. Then complained how I took up a four hour slot. She made a few suggestions; to cut off all my hair and to put eggs and mayonnaise in my hair. Not very helpful. I then asked if there was anything else she could do to my hair because I wanted a birthday make over. Still got a no. She then suggested I go to other stylists in the salon because they were cheaper and she was too expensive for me. Finally, she ended up cutting off maybe a quarter of an inch of my hair. She told me to come back in 8 weeks for another trim and that she could "maybe" do something with my hair. All in all, a beautiful salon, but terrible service. I will not be returning, but still looking for a good salon! read more

Such poor customer service! Having media checking it out and will get results! Poor management all through company! Was not able to do services due to over scheduling, when I got upset they doubled price. When I stated going to media, manager and district manager offered all free services to me. Noooo ! 237.00 for cut ombré coloring. Dark roots light ends wow ! This was a horrific ordeal and from reviews no matter how many complaints, they do not improve.
