Our favorite ice cream parlor in Salem! I get the strawberry vanilla, which has a fresh strawberry taste, and my boyfriend gets pistachio, which has a hint of cherry almond flavor. Won't be returning to this business. Tonight was the final straw when they charge handmade ice cream prices for factory made ice cream. Also over the past few months we have had multiple times that store is closed during their normal hours. The business has gone down since the original owner sold it. Cute little ice shop downtown. We got to sample some yummy flavors. I ended up with the caramelized pineapple and blueberry cheesecake. They were delicious and a perfect treat! The have sundaes and the new addition of the ice cream panini. Almost got brave and tried the ice cream panini, but chickened out. Omg! This cute little ice cream shop is SO GOOD! The local owner is so sweet and was really nice to my indecisive son. They have classic and unusual flavors as well as some pastries, and COFFEE! Yes! It's a fun location too! In the lower level of the Reed Opera House. You can sit and enjoy your ice cream in the common seating area, or mosey around all the little shops! This ice cream shop is just what Salem needed! It's walking distance from the Riverfront Park and right on State St in downtown Salem! We have been longing for a gourmet ice cream shop! ( we found out she was here but we just didn't know it ) My husband got the mint ice cream with chocolate flakes (It has a fancy name but I forgot it) He thought it was delicious. I got a single scoop in a cup. I got two 1/2 scoops-one of Chocolate with chocolate ribbon and cookies (another fancy name I forgot). And a half scoop of peaches with wafers. Both flavors were to die for! Creamy and flavorful! Jenna was super friendly. Single scoops are 3.50. Well worth it! We will be returning-soon!! read more

The place smelled & looked delicious! The ice cream was yummy but they are sly with the Upcharge. Apparently if you ask for a scoop in a cone they are going to give you the bigger, more expensive cone. Then when you see the total you can ask wtf it's so expensive... Lesson learned! read more

They had peanut butter cup which was delicious, chocolate with salted Carmel, which I got, was perfect, not overly chocalaty or salty which is the issue I normally find, and a lemon sorbet that I did not try. I had my first experience at Dolce Mama's tonight, and sadly, it was very underwhelming. As a Salem local and ice cream lover, I really wanted to love this place, but the ice cream and business fell very short. To begin with the ice cream: 1) I sampled three flavors: stracciatella mint, cherry fudge swirl, and carrot cake. I literally couldn't tell the difference between all three flavors. All I could taste was milk. 2) The ice cream had an icier texture (think Breyer's ice cream) versus a super creamy texture. For the business design: 1) The ice cream NEEDS to be on display. That is the point of an ice cream shop. 2) When given samples of flavors, I only received the base and none of the add-ins. You are selling the ice cream short. 3) When I go to a speciality ice cream shop, I am expecting speciality flavors. I could have found all of the current flavors at my local Safeway. My Recommendations: 1) The ice cream base needs some work. You need a higher milk fat content to yield a creamier texture. The base needs more vanilla and salt to amp up the flavor. 2) Train your staff to give samples that are representative of the ice cream. If I ask for a sample of the carrot cake, there better be a piece of carrot cake in my sample. 3) Invest in a display for your ice cream. I apologize if this critique was harsh...I am giving these critiques because I really want this business to succeed for Salem. read more

I brought my son here for a little birthday treat (our birthdays are 4 days apart ) Really cute place and loved the decorating style! It was a bit spendy but I don't mind paying for yummy homemade ice cream! The one thing I did notice was although it was slow and we were the only ones in there it seemed like it would be a good time to catch up on cleaning but the friendly girl who served us was in the back before and after serving us. The tables were clean and there wasn't trash laying around or anything, but things like the floor, garbage cans, toys, etc. needed a good wipe down.
