What you know about Balut? Well you can find it here!

They just have those Asian imports that I remember growing up on the islands where this was common. Large selection and they also carry seafood. This is a go to spot when I have family visiting from the island and they are making some traditional cuisine. I enjoy trying new things and running into favorite classics! Check it out when you have time and explore these imports!

Of the three Asian markets I know if here in Salem, this store has more hard to get items than the other two, such as shelled opihi (limpets), manju, linguica and lup cheong. They have very quick service at check out and even place your bagged groceries on the counter near the door so you can high tail it out of there when you are done. My daughter chose some pop rocks candy which I loved because it comes in tiny individually wrapped packages inside of a big colorful enticing package. It's so much fun to eat pop rocks! Great selection of premium packaged ramen and an endless aisle of pickled jarred vegetables, frozen fish is up near the front of the store along with packets of sauce mixes for Indian, Japanese, and Korean sauce mixes.

Saved me a trip to Beaverton. They had enough of the ingredients. I can't find other places.

Helpful, variety of products, and authentic foods. Great considering the small Asian population here.

I found their pre-bagged smaller packages of rice to be very affordable. I appreciate the diverse selection.

The donuts are self-serve with trays and tongs. They had a wide variety available. I selected a original glazed, a pretty in pink (strawberry glazed), a chocolate and a pandan. I also ordered two K-dogs (Korean-style elevated corn dogs), and a classic pearl milk tea with the standard brown sugar boba. My order was ready in less than 10 minutes. My drink was a pretty standard boba drink. Good, but nothing special. The drinks are very customizable, with ice amount and sweetness level just two of the options. The K-dogs were really tasty. I got an Potato Dog (which is a corn dog covered with crispy potato cubes and served with a fry sauce). The other dog I chose was the Gochujang Dog: their standard corn dog with Gochujang sauce. You have the option of having your K-Dog stuffed with mozzarella, a hotdog, or half hotdog and half mozzarella. I did half dog, half mozzarella on both. The cheese made the K-Dogs like huge fried mozzarella sticks. I enjoyed both, they were huge, and I ended up splitting them with a friend. I had both sauces on the side as my order was to go, and both complimented the rich cheese/dogs nicely. The fry sauce was rich and tangy, and the Gochujang a little spicy and a little sweet. The donuts were good too. This was my first time trying mochi donuts. The mochi flour gives the donuts a firmer and denser texture than your standard donut. I love other mochi desserts, but here I missed the lightness and melt-in-your-mouth quality of regular donuts. That is more of a personal preference, but something to be aware of, especially if you are sensitive to textures in food. It seemed like most of the individual flavors of each donut came more from the toppings rather than the donut itself. That isn't unusual with donuts of any kind. The service was awesome, and I was intrigued most by the K-Dogs. I will be back when I am in the mood for an different kind of treat.

More just a stunt with the gold leaf and Dubai chocolate is not that much better than the other flavors. Not to mention it's twice to three times the price of the other flavors Favorite so far is the espresso Boba is ok. Not the same level as the ones in big cities but good enough in the small town

This part of Salem was never the nicest, but slowly but surely things have been turning around. Fast forward a few years and I'm actually quite pleased with the direction they've been trending toward. They've clearly cleaned up their act (#1) and the store has never looked better. The floors are shining, the produce is on point, and the store as a whole looks pretty organized. Service varies across the board naturally, but having gone here fairly often in the last few months have been friendly and fun encounters. I was able to pick out a nice bouquet of flowers in the floral section with the help of an associate and someone was able to guide me to the right area of the store for spices and seasoning. I've gotten no attitude, which is a vast improvement from the past. Where I would give them less kudos is their pricing. I know the pandemic has resulted in higher price tags across the board. There are a lot of nearby grocery / department stores that feature much of the same stuff for a lot less. _____________ (#1) Literally. It's a whole new store when you've got renovated digs and the staff who keep it looking that way.
