This review should have been posted a few weeks ago but my schedule didn't allow me to actually sit still to do so ...I wanted to ensure I had the time to truly explain how amazing my experience has been with this Company. To start, I live in Philly & my daughter was Penn State Altoona at the time & on 4/26/26 she turned 20yrs old and this was the first time I wasn't going to celebrating with her and being hands on with all the plans. But with the secret help of her College Friends I was able to plan an amazing Birthday weekend in state college for all of them to enjoy but the most stressful thing was find her the perfect Cake!! Her friends wanted to go to pick one up from a Supermarket but because I wasn't going to be there I wanted to make everything about her Bday super special and a market cake wasn't going to work unfortunately in addition they were college kids with no vehicles I didn't want to put that taste on them and it may or many not get done. I was now less then 2wks from her Bday weekend and just now starting the search for the perfect "I'm sorry Mommy couldn't be there but hopefully this amazingly crafted artwork now called your Bday Cake makes up for it" type of Cake. So my 3-4hrs long search begun..I needed to find a Bakery that could make her a cake that not only looked good but tastes even better (I have been disappointed in the past so my research was on the First 48 level, ...a bad cake can ruin entire Bday in my opinion. In addition, I needed discreet delivery services. After hours of searching, reading reviews & scanning every social media accounts as well as any and all websites that mentioned their names to ensure all T's were crossed and the reviews were actually verified by real people before choosing Dolce Vita Desserts. Their designs were all so creative & beautifully done and after emailing a few times with Anthony he not only confirmed my specific request but he also ensure that they could/would customize to design I preferred..so I took two Of their designs (because I loved them both and couldn't decide one over the other) and made it one :) I also explained to Anthony my need desperately need for delivery ..( their site mentioned how delivery was limited) I was willing to send it as uber package delivery even I was praying I wouldn't have to do that. But, Anthony not only approved my delivery he also advised me to touch bases with the Hotel staff and provide them with the box dimensions to ensure their fridge would be able fit/store and also gave specifics on how to properly store ...information I didn't even think to consider. I whole heartily appreciate all that Anthony has done to help make my daughter's Birthday super special. Everything was executed seamlessly, even down to the delivery confirmation email I received from Both Dolce & the Hotel. My daughter not only loved her surprise bday weekend but she was in love with her cake!! I ordered the 6" inch round white cake with strawberry preserves. I thought that since only my daughter & 3 of her friends were celebrating with her that they would take the left over cake to share with others at their dorm but she told me the cake was so good they devoured it. Not one crumb was left. Which was done after making a photo shoot with the cake! She loved everything about that cake! My only regret...is the fact that I wasn't able to try it myself! While visiting State College, I found that this bakery had gluten free options. I'm always looking for "good" gluten free baked goods. Decided to stop in. Bought a blueberry muffin and chocolate/chocolate cupcake to bring home. This morning had the blueberry muffin. OMG!!! This muffin was the moistest gf muffin I have ever had!!! I've never had a gf muffin this tasty and moist. Wish I lived closer, but I live in south central PA. . GF items are more expensive, which I understand, but these were well worth the price. saving the cupcake for tonight's dessert. Everyone there was very helpful and pleasant. We found this hidden gem in State College because of Yelp! The cupcakes were amazing, the service was very quick and attentive, and the ambience was perfect. We felt like we were sitting in a cafe with the smell of delicious cupcakes and coffee brewing! The aromas were a sensory overload in the most wonderful way, and were heightened once we took the first bite of the cupcakes! This will now be a continuous stop for us. Please don't let the thought of an upscale bakery intimidate you....the prices were beyond reasonable!!! I wish we had one closer to home!! read more

I can't say enough about my recent experience with Dolce Vita Desserts and moreover THE end result ! I have now ordered twice from out of state and for my student daughter who attends Penn State Law. The result is always on point and it's easy! I've dealt with Mary both times via email and each time it's been easy and flawless. My daughter just had her graduation weekend. I wanted a cake that would be impressive and showcase her law degree as well as being fun with her school encompassed into the cake too. I got pretty creative and Mary was up for the challenge! She sketched out what I had sent from photos etc into one 'cake sketch' and sent back to me within a day. The cake was delivered locally after the graduation with Nittany Lion Paw Print cookie favors that I also wanted for my daughter's graduation party, ( I know! I can't seem to let her be 25 now :-/ ! ) to the venue in which we hosted her party with friends and family. When that cake arrived, I can't tell you how everyone awwed over it! The taste was also very good. The top round was done in Penn State 'blue ' and vanilla cream filling; the 'law book' was done in Vanilla Cake and Raspberry Cream filling. I am truly blown away at how great this cake looked when delivered. The cookies were a hit too; wrapped in cellophane and blue ribbon for a nice going away favor for out of town guests. This business provided the wedding cake and cupcakes for our wedding on the 26th. Sooo good. All of the cupcakes were gone by the end of the night! Every flavor and we got a variety of 4 of them. The cake design was what we wanted, the cake was moist and icing was fluffy. My wife absolutely loves their Red Velvet cupcake and we usually stop in if we are in the area. I ordered from Dolce Vita online and ordered a white razz cupcake, red velvet cupcake, lemon bar, and ginger cookies. I ordered it two days ahead since it's right before Valentine's Day I wasn't sure how busy they would be. When I came to pick it up I was an hour early but it was all packed up and ready. My order was stored in the fridge which I thought was kind of weird bc it makes cookies hard. My cookies were pretty hard but I put them in the microwave for 15 seconds and they were perfect. The flavor was very much on point. They were somewhat small though but they're only a dollar each. The lemon bar was huge and very sweet, not very tangy. The cupcakes were very moist and oily. The red velvet fell apart in my hand but was still very good. The white razz cupcake tasted like plain white cake and the filling wasn't really a filling, but more like a pea size dab. Overall it was pretty good and I'd return to try some other things! read more

Came in to get a birthday cake and found out they are make to order only. If you are the kind of person who wants to grab a cake on the day or last minute, the would not be the place as they don't have any in store for you to ran and go. So we ended up to get a dozen of cupcake instead. They have probably 7 or 8 flavor to choose from and they all look pretty good. We got every flovor they have and couple extra peanut butter and it turn out to be the most popular flavor. Sweetness level, on a scale of 1-10, I think this place is at 8 which is too much sugar for me. I think desert is not just about the sweetness. And the icing, it wasn't very smooth somehow. College Ave. Totally worth the drive! The owner is very devoted to her bakery... she is there every single time I stop to get cupcakes, working on all kinds of treats (cookies, brownies, cakes, etc.) The actual shop is really cute, and it always smells AMAZING inside. Dolce Vita's cupcakes are the real deal -- sweet, soft, moist and delicious! They offer several different flavors, but my favorite is Red Velvet. And if it's nice outside, you can hop across the street to Cafe Lemont and pair your lovely treats with a latte! read more

I would NOT ever recommend this Desserts takeout, if you could even call them that! I ordered a smoothie and cookie dough with ice cream. Wouldn't think it would take too long to whip it up right? Well an hour goes by and I given them a call, they tell me they dont do the smoothies anymore...but they didnt think to call or contact me or cancel the order to give me my money back...so I call them, a gentleman answers and tells me he was sorry and he will make me a milkshake instead and get it sent out ASAP...so another hour goes by...I call again for a young lady to answer and have no recollection of this order. She tells me she would send the order out as soon as...when it finally arrives I don't have the milkshake, only Half of my order is given to me! No one even thought to let me know or refund me! So we called again, and asked how they would fix this issue, we demanded our refund for the milkshake and they offered us discount for next time, however there will NOT be a next time! Worst set up ever!!! I went to get a cupcake, they're making people call or text and order online. So I called them and they told me I can't just order a cupcake while I'm sitting in the parking lot I have to actually go online and enter a ton of information... And all I wanted was one cupcake. No offer to let me go ahead and order it and give them three bucks etc. IM RIGHT OUTSIDE!! Fine, I leave I'm mad. I go ahead go on the website, go through all those steps to order my damn cupcake. I'll get back over there and I called and say I'm outside. So I'm waiting and waiting in the hot sun, I'm standing outside of my car! There's a glare so it's hard to see if anyone has popped out the door...somebody brought the cupcake out and put it on the table with a bunch of Numbers on it. Did anyone say here's your cupcake? No. Did they see me standing there, they had to I was the only one in the parking lot! Did they call my name?? No!. They put it on the table and went back in and it sat there as I had glanced away for a second didn't see them put it out there. And I'm waiting and waiting and waiting for the stupid cupcake. Fabulous desserts! They made my daughter's custom 1st Birthday cake and did a wonderful job on the design. I told them what kind of design and theme I had in mind and they executed it perfectly. Could not be happier with how out it turned out. Not only was the cake stinkin' adorable, but it was absolutely delicious! My party guests raved about how yummy the cake was, and everyone wanted a second piece (even folks who don't like dessert much)! One of the best cakes I've ever had, period. Fantastic cupcakes! My wife and I love a great gourmet cupcake and we were really disappointed when the Ndulge bakery in State College went out of business. So we were delighted to hear about Dolce Vita in Lemont and we just tried their cupcakes for the first time. We sampled four different flavors so far and they were all fabulous! The cake was moist, the texture of the cake and icing were perfect, and the flavors were delicious! They had just the right amount of sweetness to bring out the flavor without being sickeningly sweet. The icing was swirled high on top of each cupcake, and some of the varieties had filling in the center. After hiking Mt Nittany for +4 hours, my boyfriend and I happened upon this small bakery. As a vegan, I expected to walk in "just to smell" the baked goods and ogle longingly at the assorted cakes. However, I was greeted by a sign saying that they offer vegan + gluten free cupcakes and frosting! Ordered a vegan vanilla-vanilla cupcake and my boyfriend got a peanut butter cup cupcake (non-vegan). We refrigerated ours for a few hours, but I can tell that she's got the recipe nailed down even if you ate it after being freshly iced (which they do for the vegan frosting). The consistency was beyond perfect and the icing held together unlike most vegan baked goods. Service was quite friendly and the atmosphere is very homey. Price is ~$3.00 which is absolutely appropriate given the quality of cupcake and tower of icing you get! Have been to Georgetown Cupcakes and even that was not as good as the cupcake I had here (being vegan definitely factored in to that).
