When I arrived at the location, I was not greeted by staff although the guy was available. Once I went outside to speak to one of the other employees, he brought me back into the facility, I had to ask how to obtain my vehicle. As I did the walk around I noticed several damages to the car, I was told to report it at checkout. The lady there was quite curt. The car itself was in need a of deep clean as the seat and ceiling were stained. The car was also in need of an oil change and every time I started it up, I was reminded of this. No mechanical issues with the car and decent on gas. My biggest pain point was where to return it at the airport since there aren't any accurate signage at the airport to direct you there. Dollar Car Rental located at 3175 Belvedere Rd, West Palm Beach, FL 33406 - By far the worst car rental experience I've ever had. The franchise needs to investigate that location. My AAA Confirmation showed $270.82 for a 5 days rental. I went to the location to pick up the vehicle and was told I wasn't able to rent the vehicle from the AAA confirmation. I was then told another vehicle will be given at the same rate. My initial receipt upon driving off the lot showed $410.30 + $200 hold. I was running behind schedule so I figured I'd address it when I returned the vehicle. Upon returning the vehicle 2 days earlier the final receipt was $733.75. I bought the car through them on Priceline for my mother . I paid extra money for an upgrade and it's supposed to be a Buick regal or something similar. She pulls up in a Toyota corolla and I was confirmed by dollar rental car that that is a basic car not a premium. Customer service it's all a rental told me I had to call a Priceline and I spent a half hour on the phone with Priceline because they said dollar rental couldn't confirm if she had been downgraded until she returns the car. What had previously been a good experience was soured when I turned in the vehicle. Was quietly charged $55 for unnecessary cleaning, just because there was a little bit of sand in the floor of the car. If the attendant had said something and showed some guidelines for it, I might have understood. But I have turned in vehicles dirtier than this or had my own vehicle vacuumed out for a lot less than this. It did not require 'detailing'. That is ridiculous. I waited more then an hour to actually get a car. The exit agent was extremely rude and nasty. The car was a piece of crap with 60,000 miles on it and cigarette burns in the seats the icing on the cake is when I returned the car with a full tank but was still charged $20 for refuel because they said it wasn't returned on full. I don't know where to begin....lets start with the old dirty car we got. It handles were gross filth on the seats stains and all. The car had over 80,000 miles. Well it started to rain when we use the wipers the rubber is falling off the blades. We call them to see if the would send someone to replace them, they said no come to us. My husband drove 40 minutes back to airport to get the car replaced is what they told him he waited over an hour before they told him they had no car to give him that he could go to the store and buy wipers himself and replace them. I personally love Dollar Car Rental. They are a good price and efficient. I've used them for years and am currently in their Express program. After leaving the airport terminal, they had a bus waiting to take us to the car rental lot. They informed me that I had made two reservations for the same dates (one was significantly more money based on when I had booked for some reason) and the lot employee canceled the more expensive reservation for me with no issues. Returning the car was just as simple. An employee came up, checked me in, emailed me the receipt, and I was on my way to the bus to head back to the Airport for my home flight. read more

I had to fly home last minute, and really thought I had paid for the car with the exception of a $65 charge I had to pay when I picked up the car. Well, I soon realized they do that so they can also charge your card an additional $500 for using a debit card ($200 for credit cards) to "hold". I asked where this information was and the kid working the desk said, "It's in the small small print" And another girl, who although very sweet, was just doing her job, tells me they've had to turn away families with small children because they weren't aware. Mind you they will NOT refund your money at all if you don't have an extra $500 for them to "hold" They got the manager since I wasn't happy, who looked at me like I kicked his dog and said, "Well you'll get it back" (It's been over a week since I dropped my rental off, still haven't gotten my money back.) I reserved a car from Dollar Rent a Car to be picked up and dropped off at The West Palm Beach Airport in Florida. After doing so, I came across the Yelp reviews about this location. I was very concerned after reading all the bad reviews. I did then take the time to do some homework and know what I should expect at the counter. After picking up my luggage, I went to wait for a shuttle. It took about 15 minutes or so to arrive. The shuttled filled up and we were on our way to the rental lot location. I had the foresight to sit next to the exit of the shuttle. When we arrived at the lot, I quickly grabbed my suitcase and was the first out of the shuttle and into the rental office. There were two attendants at the counter and only one customer being taken cared for when I arrived. The second attendant waved me over. I gave him my rental agreement and clearly exclaimed: -I would like to refuse the liability insurance. -I would like to waive the collision coverage. -I do not want a transponder for paying tolls. (I did not plan to use any toll roads) -I want to return the car full of gas The attendant was professional. He took his time, but not excessively so. He did not attempt to up-sell me on the "extras". He did suggest that they could "take care of the gas for me" but I reminded him that I planned to return it with a full tank. It tool about 7-10 minutes at the counter and I was handed my paperwork. By the time I left the counter, there were about 10-12 people in line. I imagine that they had to wait a while to be served. I was then directed to a kiosk outside in the parking lot to choose my vehicle. When I got to the kiosk, there was no one there. I waited about 10 minutes for someone to arrive. She apologized for her absence and immediately and quickly directed me to the row of about 9 available cars that I could choose from. I was able to get the same model as I had been pro-missed on-line. It was a Nissan Altima, there were 3 to choose from. The car was clean and had no detectable odor. There were about 51,000 miles on the car. It was in excellent condition and appeared well maintained. The vehicle was a pleasure to drive, with no issues. On returning the car to the rental lot, I did encounter some trouble. I had entered the rental lot address on my Google Maps GPS on my phone. Somehow, it refused to show me the correct exit to reach the lot. The signage was a bit ambiguous and I missed the exit a few times, having to loop around by the airport pickup area a few times. I don't know if it was me or not but the woman next to me said that she had had exactly the same problem. Fortunately we had given ourselves a lot of extra time so it worked out. Exasperated, I switched my GPS over to Apple Maps. That program did indicate the correct exit and relieved, I pulled into the lot and to the return area. Within 2-3 minutes someone approached me to check the car back in. She scanned the vehicle and checked the gas, which I had just topped off at a nearby gas station. She told me that I was good to go and printed my receipt. There were no additional charges to my bill and I paid exactly what I had reserved the car for online at "rentalcars.com". The shuttle back to the airport took about 5 minutes to arrive and took us to the airport promptly. I think one thing that helped me was reading all the negative reviews here and noting the kinds of problems that people had encountered. I knew about the exorbitant extra charges that others had paid and made sure that I did not incur any of them. Also, it can also be "the luck of the draw". I arrives at a good time. In addition, positioning myself next to the shuttle door, and being the first one off, saved me some time. There's always room for improvement, but overall my experience was a good one. read more

Shortly thereafter the credit card we used had fraud activity and needed to be replaced. The representative refused to take another card or not even cash. Representative was degrading, rude and totally inappropriate. Terrible, do no use.  The fees they charge after the rental will end up costing you more than the actual car rental.  They charged me a $9.99 admin fee per toll.  For example a 70 cent toll came along with a $9.99 admin fee.  I ended up having $17 worth of tolls and $89 worth of admin fees.  Insanity.  I will never use this company again and I would steer anyone away who is even considering renting from Dollar.  Do not use this company.  Even if their rates are $20 less per day they screw you with their fees. read more

I waited on line at the airport for over an hour; one person working at the desk; by the time I got to the front of the line the one person working says by the way just wanted to let you know that once you get to the place where you actually pick up the vehicle its going to be another hour wait because they were so backed up. Oh where do I even begin with this review? First let's start with the service at the airport. The woman who helped me barely said two words to me. I had to ask her what I was being charged for and she barely spoke. Okay, at least she didn't try to up-sale the Florida ezpass bullshit. We get a Hyundai Accent, I pull out of the lot, drive 4 miles on i95 in the middle lane going 75 mph and suddenly the traction control light comes on. Hmmm that's odd, I thought to myself. I drove for maybe two more miles and then the brake light, ABS light, check engine light, some other fucking light all come on, and then the speedometer and odometer shut off. I'm pressing the gas, nothing. Brakes are working somehow, I coast into the right lane. I'm fucking shaking like you wouldn't believe I thought we were going to die. I get off an exit and immediately pull into a Nissan dealership. I ask the service guy to come look at the car for a second. He walks over to it, tells me to call the company because the car is fucked and should not be driven anymore. Great. So I call Dollar's roadside. I spoke to a woman who apologized for what happened and asked me if I wouldn't mind just driving the car back to the airport? LADY ARE YOU FUCKING HIGH??? You want me to drive a car that stopped fucking working another six miles back to the airport after we almost got fucking sandwiched by two tractor trailers???? I told the lady no fucking way am I driving that car again. She told me she would figure something out and call me back. She called me back 15 minutes later and said there was a tow truck coming to drop off another car for us and take this Hyundai piece of trash back to wherever, BUT it will take an hour.... Okay fine, what choice do I have? So we wait, and wait, and wait. Finally almost two hours later the tow truck comes with another car. I signed some papers and then we left. Not only did we almost die in a car that was clearly not serviced properly but this whole situation was a ridiculous inconvenience. Not to mention the fact that Dollar didn't offer SHIT to make up for what happened. Not taking money off what we paid, not offering a discount in a future rental. NOTHING. Called me very upset. I went online and booked enterprise which was cheaper than rebooking with them. That cost $300 more again because last minute. Will never use again. Very unprofessional !! Our car broke down, waited 2 hours for a tow that never came. I had to call back and they had to call a different company to tow. No one would bring us a new car, only offer us a Lyft to get the new car. To get home from where we were, it stormed really bad, having us waiting till it cleared to walk the 45 minutes home. Our entire day was ruined. Then the following day, we waste time getting the Lyft and driving 30 minutes to get a new rental. An employee told us he was clocking in, it was 9am...and that he would be with us in a minute. We waited 30 minutes for him to come back. Very poor customer service when I returned the car. The agent was disrespectful and rude, threatening me with extra charges because there was a little sand on the floorboards on the driver and passenger side. I told him that is not the expectation of any customer, because the company washes the cars after rental. He said: "Oh, just wait and see." I had a great experience at this Dollar car rental. I added a rented car for a week onto an Expedia package I had booked for a trip to West Palm and had no issues with pickup or drop off. Staff was kind and informative as well to a first time car renter. Our car was even upgraded for opting to pay for the gas in our tank and be able to return on empty This saved us from rushing around our last day on the way to the airport having to fill up. The line was long but the lady told us that we were going to be charged Dexter hundred dollars then on top of that we got a tourist charge of $39. I complained about the extra hundred dollars because we were told that two drivers were covered, the woman was rude and told me there was nothing she could do about it when I told her that I also had AAA because I heard one of the other people say that if you had AAA they wouldn't charge for the extra driver then I was told nope! With no relief one of the workers actually told us why we were standing there that this happens every single solitary day there that 6 to 7 times a day they get somebody in from Sam's Club that they automatically charge them for the extra driver! we picked up our car. I actually picked up my car from the Belvedere location. This was the worst car rental experience that I have ever had. The price was reasonable. The service was awful. When checking in I asked the gentleman to let me know what type of car I had. I potentially wanted to upgrade. He completed my check-in and handed me my paperwork without any opportunity to discuss. He directed me to step outside to finding a woman wearing a vest. He inaccurately described the color of the staff person's vest. When I identified whom I thought he was talking about, she was very rude. After following his instructions, she rudely let me know that I was in the wrong area. She subsequently approached me and pointed across the parking lot to where the car would be. I would definitely not recommend renting a car at this location. read more
