Not a bad experience. I was a little afraid after reading some reviews. I was flying into West Palm for a wedding and needed to get a rental car for the weekend. Hertz here was as good an option as any others. The reason I went with Hertz is that I am a member of their rewards program so I had some points for a free rental day. Did all my reservations through the app. When I touched down and left the terminal it was easy to find the shuttle to the rental car facility. After exiting the shuttle I exited and saw my name on the board that I could choose any vehicle from the presents circle section. Not much variety. I chose the Buick because they had several, and the first one had some trash left inside. The second one was good to go. After picking it and loading my bad I check out at the exit gate. That's where showed my ID and received a cop of my rental agreement. Drop off went smoothly as well. Put in the drop off lane, they scanned the vehicle, then I was quickly on the shuttle to the airport. read more

I've rented from this Hertz location a couple of times--once in connection with a flight--and I've also dropped cars off here after renting from FLL. Overall, the rental process itself has been fine and consistent. Check the board, don't have to speak to anyone, pick my car and be out. I love that for me. No major issues with the vehicles or the return process, which I appreciate. The biggest challenge I've run into is pickup after drop-off. Rideshare drivers can't get through the gate, which makes coordinating a pickup or even drop off unnecessarily awkward especially if the driver isn't used to it. Aside from that logistical issue, the location does what it needs to do for my needs. read more

I will NEVER consider even looking at this Hertz location for rental ever again!!! Super long wait for shuttle that resulted in two dozen people on a 10 seat van; sketchier than a roadtrip planned by sophomore high school boys. Upon arrival my name was on the board directing us to get the car from the President's Circle. Three or four other parties are standing so I'm not quick to grab the base model Camry or two electric vehicles parked the next section over - are they also PC'? A guy pulls another car in and I ask, "where are the cars?" "You go inside", was the reply. I look over and there a 4 parties in the Budget line and 6+ in the Hertz line...and ONE PERSON working the kiosk. After 15 minutes of going inside and noticing the people who had cars were stuck in a queue to exit - I ordered an Uber then booked with National near the hotel. Hertz is an absolutely horrible rental service. We paid extra for an upgraded car and still got stuck with a low-end vehicle that was completely beat up inside and out, with mud and splatters of suspicious liquid all inside it. The woman at the counter was outright awful, rude, dismissive, and ready to argue with us over everything. We were first in line, standing right at the counter, and she still told us she was going to help everyone else behind us before coming back to us. We truly appreciate the wonderful customer service. After being stranded by American, we wound up having to keep our rental and make a long overnight drive to get home. When we called to try to figure out costs we got different numbers from the office. Finally we just said the heck with it and drove. Got to Belvedere and the woman took great care of us and straightened it all out. They were also very kind to the people behind us who got stranded in PBI another day. I put my luggage in the truck and booked out. Yay Hertz?! I'll be back here in a few weeks, I rented a Tesla but my pick up is at the Orlando airport. I'm sure it will be just as easy when I return the car at the West Palm Beach location. *If you rent a Tesla and don't know the car? The line is extremely long with only 1 unhelpful worker and another unhelpful worker that can only help if you're a "member". If they were smart they would get him to help with the line. The car has received was electric, I gave it chance but I would never use one again because charging takes forever! But more importantly the car they gave me had 2 worn front tires which one nearly blew out on me. Hertz roadside assistance was less than helpful and basically chastised me for not taking additional coverage when their quality control was clearly to blame. We rented a large size SUV to drive to Tallahassee. I booked online a few months in advance. Upon arriving, there was a bit of a wait. We had the option of choosing between three different available vehicles. We went with the Volkswagen Altas, which was a great choice. However, unfortunately we learned that the windshield wipers were damaged on the road. We hit a terrible storm coming back and the windshield wipers being inoperable made for a dangerous ride. No one informed me that there was any damage beforehand. You would think that would be an important piece of information to share with a customer, especially since we live in Florida where it can rain at anytime. Returning the vehicle was simple, so stars for that. Prices are comparable to the other nearby companies, so I didn't get a deal. read more

I reserved and paid for a rental mid-size SUV a week in advance of my trip. The online booking process seemed to be without an issue, however, on the day of my trip, I was unable to check-in for my rental online as it was requiring another credit card to be added for "payment." I double checked my banking statement and confirmed I was already charged for the rental, so I just checked in at the service desk in the airport upon my arrival. The Hertz service member was rude and the process made it seem as if I didn't complete any part of the rental reservation in advance as I had to provide all my information and form of payment a second time. We then waited about 20 minutes for the rental shuttle to pick us up from the airport to take us to the Hertz lot. We were assigned "any vehicle" from a specific row, as assigned by the Hertz service member, however, upon arrival to the lot, there was only one car in the row I was assigned. Not only was it not mid-size SUV, but it had a SPARE tire on it... There was also another customer who was assigned that row, however, there was only this one sad excuse for a rental car. After speaking with a team member on the lot, we were both reassigned to a different row of rental cars, however, all of these vehicles were electric and/or compact cars. As I have no experience with electric cars, I opted for one of the smaller vehicles, however, this is not what I reserved and definitely not what I paid for. Not only did this add unnecessary stress to an already long day of travel, but it set the tone for what was supposed to be a fun and relaxing vacation right off the bat. Pbi is not a large airport so when you fly in later at night it's much easy in and out of the rental car places. I had a hertz gold reservation and my name was on the board. I went over to the gold area and only choices were Tesla cars. I did not want to have to worry about finding charging stations. I went to the attendant at help window and she said oh anyone gold can go to the presidents circle and pick a car. While not an overly large selection you had ample choice as there were no duplicate cars. Out in 5 mins total which I love. When I returned they came and checked me out right away and I was on the 4 min shuttle ride to the airport myself. One of the nicer hertz locations I had done business with. read more

Do not rent an electric vehicle from Hertz. Despite having 75 miles on the battery, the electronics failed to operate and Hertz would neither come to pick us up nor swap for a functional car. We had to pay for a tow and fight with Hertz to exchange the car. The whole ordeal too about 3.5 hours. Horrible customer service - actually no "customer" service. Horrible. And they didn't even offer to reduce the cost or comp us for our inconvenience and additional expenses in any way. And there is so much that they could have done to make it right. But they refused. As a Hertz president's club member who's used many Hertz location, the West Palm Beach location is the most incompetently managed one to date. I've had now three (3) rentals over the past couple years where I prepaid for a guaranteed vehicle, and arrive to Hertz to no avail. This time I had paid for a large SUV and when we arrived, after waiting one (1) hour for them to find a vehicle, all they were able to provide was a midsized vehicle. Zero compensation was offered and I mentioned the vehicle they provided was half the price of what I had paid for, yet still, they did nothing. **WARNING SOME PHOTOS ARE YUCKY!** Last Month....Upon attempting to board the Hertz Airport Shuttle my mom lost her balance trying to LOAD HER OWN BAG up onto the shuttle. When she fell forward into the step of the shuttle she gashed her leg all the way to the bone on an uneven/uncovered shuttle step. I quickly told the kids and my husband to get off the bus and get off the bags because I knew that it was not good, Mama had blood everywhere. I told my husband to call 911. The bus driver got up and came back to the rear of the bus and asked me what I wanted or needed him to do.....it was obvious that he had not been trained to handle any type of incident or accident. I was lucky and thankful that I had beach towels available and was able to get the bleeding to stop with a lot of pressure by the time the West Palm Beach Fire Dept arrived. (Whom provided excellent care and concern for my mom, me and our family! Thank you Lt Nick and Crew!) Lt Nick told me he was impressed at how I was handling the whole situation and I did a great job getting the bleeding to stop..... While the West Palm Beach Fire Department assisted my mom I was handed paper towels by a Hertz employee to help clean up the parking lot and side walk from all the blood she lost (REALLY ) and asked by another to write my name and phone number and a brief explanation of what happened on a sheet of PLAIN WHITE Copy paper.....thinking back there's something wrong with situation too, not sure if any of them have ever completed any type of Employee Ethics or Training. We arrived at St Mary's Hospital by ambulance where mama proceeded to receive 14 staples in her leg, in which to this day, close to a month later is still being seen by a doctor twice a week for at the Wound Clinic. Needless to say, we missed our flights home. In addition, we were told by the ER Dr to try to eliminate as much travel for Mama as possible to keep from having blood clots in her leg so we drove over an hour to Miami for a direct flight home. We arrived in Miami and were greeted by an over 3 hour flight delay due to storms and then finally boarded the plane just in time to sit on the run way unable to move out of our seats for close to 1 and a half hours. Pure torture for my mom! We were originally supposed to arrive home in Raleigh about lunch time, but didn't get home until 11:30 pm! It was a long exhausting day that started at 3:30am! For Mama, especially, and the kids, and myself to some degree the whole experience has been quite an ordeal. And something that Mama is still suffering from! I decided to post our experience as I reached out to Hertz last week because after almost a months time, no one had reached out to us to check on my mom after we left their property by ambulance (me and Mama) and the 2nd Rental car (My Husband and the Kids), that YES they charged us for, so they would not be left on the curb at the Rental car place. As we were not sure the extent of Mama's injury. They Finally reached out to my email this evening, all to say that they verified that there was no Personal Accident Insurance and Personal Effects Coverage (PAIPEC) purchased at the time of rental; hence, we are unable to process any refund and they thanked me for my business! REALLY...IS THAT SERIOUSLY YOUR RESPONSE???? We are very thankful, as things could have been a lot worse for Mama, but my question is where are people's Care? Concern? Training? Ethics? Most of all Customer Service? Moral of the story.... I guess.....always purchase the insurance that way you can make sure someone gives a CRAP! Never using Hertz Again! Terrible, terrible, and the worst experience I have ever had renting a car. I rented here recently and was given a car that ended up having mechanical issues 2 days after I drove it off the lot. The "check engine" light went on along with several other warning lights. The car started rattling and felt extremely unsafe. When I called Hertz about the car, the soonest they could get me a new one was 2 days later, when I would be returning the car. They ended up coming to tow the car away and I was left without a car for 3 days. No one picked up the phone at this establishment when I called either so I could not talk to a human person. I have been charged the full amount for this rental and still have not received any help from Hertz. Customer service has been absolutely horrible and I will never use them again. read more

As I was going through everything he said that I needed to take a plan. Basic, Standard, or premium and that there were no other Options. So, thinking that the basic was the one without the Insurance I signed off on it. He did not say anything else. He didn't say I could waive and use my own insurance. Thinking nothing of it. I return today after having the car for 2 weeks to see my bill and was charged $486 for insurance and $126 for road side assistance. Was never informed that I would be charged. Now they tell me since I signed off on it their is nothing. I could do. What deception and bad business. My rental for the 2 weeks totaled 495 dollars and insurance unbeknownst to me totaled almost $630 dollars. read more

There is no sense of trying to get folks out quickly (c'mon, we are on vacation and do t want to spend any more time than necessary in a rental car place). While waiting in line, folks were coming back in cuz of issues with their car. The young lady who helped us first told us we needed to have the paper AAA card with us and then after we closed out the app she then said she could use it. Do not recommend renting from here if you are flying in on an evening flight. The policy on the hertz website says that they will stay open 1 hour after your flight arrives even if it's outside of their operating hours if you input your flight in the system but they did not. This review would be five stars save for our experience with the young woman at the exit gate on the morning of Sunday November 12th. Kindness is not some catchy buzzword, it really does make a difference - especially when traveling. We were unsure as to whether we were clear to leave the lot as the light at the booth was yellow and the young woman gave no indication we were done. My husband's repeated friendly inquiries of "can we go?" were blatantly ignored and/or unheard due to her visible earbuds. When he waved to get her attention, she sarcastically asked if "we wanted to sit there all day." Her attitude was rude, demeaning and unprofessional. Not everyone who flies into WPB is there for a vacation. Our visit this trip was a difficult one. I was really happy with my last car rental here! We arrived pretty late on a Friday night and I was concerned that there would not be too many cars to choose from. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection and the easy by which we were transported from the airport and into a great car. I ended up in a Mercedes and it was a great ride. There was a very helpful staff person in the lot who was friendly and knowledgeable. The staff in the check out booth was also very friendly and helpful with directions. It was very easy to pick up and drop off the car and the shuttle to and from the airport was very convenient. The driver was very helpful. I recommend joining their rewards program, pre-paying, utilize the ultimate choice program, use the Hertz app and take advantage of AAA mrmbership savings.
