I took photos, but did not cover every square inch of car. i did not take photos when i returned it. it could have happened after return. i have no idea what they will try to charge for this scam. I'm a corporate account holder, and have historically rented for 3 1/2 months at a time for many years. 5-6 years ago I'd have given 5 stars, but customer service has gone way down I'm in a current dispute over a " charge back " transaction for over $700 in April. No one can explain why my transaction didn't go through, and therefore unpaid. The charge is documented up on my credit card statement. I'm only recently learning about this fiasco because I inquired about another upcoming rental only to, learn my account has been blocked. I was told they emailed me about this months ago ( however, the email address they claim they used to notify me ISN'T MINE) so this came as a complete surprise, and now my account is blocked and was sent to, collections with additional, fees added because so much time has elapsed. They have a chaotic and dysfunctional communication system where you are switched from person to person with no real answers given. So now I'm left trying to communicate with their accounting department in Germany to try and straighten this out and have my good credit history restored What a hassle!! Three days later, SIXT emailed a phony damage claim alleging a T-bone collision while only providing blurry photos of minor door/fender scratches and demanding $1,300. The provided "claims adjuster" number didn't connect to a claims department -- it led to a recording selling medical devices. Even worse, they sent an email asking for my insurance login ID and password to access my account. Absolutely not. After researching, I found countless similar Yelp reviews and a class action lawsuit alleging unauthorized damage charges. Once I formally disputed the claim, they dropped it. Rented car from these people , pick was quick and easy. Counter person was new but went relatively easy and simple as I had already paid. Trouble was in return, guy didn't want to help and finally came over and started looking at car. Walked around it and told me I was responsible for a ding in door . I explained to him that I had a video of the car prior to renting and that that was there before I left, and I had a video to prove it. He explained they still may want you to pay, but just send them the video. This is a ridiculous procedure, if I didn't take video, someone would have been charged for the damage on this car, luckily, I covered my ass, but the next person may not. Very sad. (We went on Wednesday June 11th, 2026 around noon) I choose Sixt be sus always good I am a loyal Sixt client bc of the quality of their cars they offer but this time the Customer Service stood out!! They were fully staffed and barley any wait .. they moved and grooved LIKE A WELL OILED MACHINE. Great Team at this location Even The employee next to him (female, did not get her name but she was super happy and cheery and helpful to the customer next to me) she was so kind and uplifting it brought up the spirit in the whole room .. the whole team seemed happy to work.. and be at work!! I cannot explain enough, how horrific and terrifying it is dealing with this sleazy company. Not only did I pay thousands of dollars after only having a Jetta for 10 hours, but after I paid their invoice, they continue to send the same bill over and over again and send threatening emails, they would not respond to any email I sent them even though they told me to email them at that address, now they're threatening to go to debt collection and hurt my credit even though I can prove that the check was already cashed by them. This is the most heartless and poorly managed monstrosity of a company. Don't waste your time trying to email claimsmanagement-usa@sixt.com because they will not respond. read more

I will never rent from Sixt again. On the last day of my rental I got a flat tire, and what should have been a simple situation turned into a complete nightmare. There is no direct roadside assistance number. The number they provide just sends you through endless automated prompts asking for a reservation number that isn't printed anywhere on their own receipt. I was hung up on repeatedly and thrown into the same loop every time I called. There was no help from the local branch either -- unanswered calls, and then they disconnect. When I finally reached a real person, I was placed on hold and essentially abandoned. Hours later, someone was eventually dispatched and the technician was excellent -- but that was the only competent part of this entire experience. Because of Sixt's terrible communication, I missed nearly an entire day, including a scheduled appointment. Then weeks later, I received a mysterious $449.99 charge with no explanation, no claim reference, and again no way to speak to a human being. No accountability. No customer service. Just automated walls and dead-end menus. Sixt is structured to make getting help as difficult and exhausting as possible, and then they quietly bill you for it afterward. This is not a customer-focused company -- it is a frustration factory that treats communication and support as optional. If you value your time, sanity, or transparency, rent anywhere else. Was told by one of the agents that they offer upgrades based on people's appearance.. what they wear. Also put a deposit on the vehicle returned it. It's been 10 days and still have not received. My deposit back. Sat on hold with the company for 12 minutes before someone answered and then told me that I have to wait an additional 10 business days before they can look into it. This was after I've already contacted them because they sent me a receipt stating that I rented a Chevy blazer. When I rented a Subaru outback. It's been a nightmare. We spoke with the 888 number & thought it was changed; however, upon arrival at the rental counter we realized it was not. The agent & manager did an excellent job getting everything address. desk agent warned me that the "upgraded" mustang convertible they were putting me in had a lot of scratches etc. and I should take a video before I left. glad I did. when I returned the lot agent told me to just leave keys and get the shuttle. a few hours later I get the email that car was returned with damage. pictures they attached were damages I do have on video. I called the location and the manager Michael Diaz had me text and email him the pics and video and said he'd take care of it. today I get a bill for over $1800. Update: Regional Manager Irina Montoya and Jr. Branch Manager Michael Diaz went back on their word and only followed through with half of their resolution, but I will keep my promise to contact corporate. Check the registration of the vehicle before you rent because they will illegally rent you vehicles with expired registrations. Among the other issues they gave me two cars with bad tags and was pulled over by the police after driving 2.5 hours to exchange a vehicle with an extremely bad odor, to the point I had to wear a mask for multiple days until I could drive there. While I was there multiple irate customers were also dealing with an awful, rude, woman who provided no customer service. After returning the second car with the bad tag and check engine light on she tried to give me a car smaller than my original car (that didn't have a full tank of gas), then she attempted to give us another car with bad tags. Eventually, after arguing and having to cancel my birthday plans due to her lack of customer service, we were able to get a vehicle. Then to my surprise I received an invoice email yesterday saying the vehicle was returned to Nashville and not my original reservation location and two days earlier than my original reservation and was charged over $400! I was on the phone for over 3 hours with no resolution because both level two agents hung up on me. The first time I waited almost an hour after being transferred to level 2 customer service, the second time I waited 1 hour and 45 mins before the level 2 customer service agent picked up and after talking for a few minutes proceeded to hang up on me. I returned the vehicle yesterday and thank God I wasn't pulled over on my way home and the car was marked as "returned". The car could have been reported as stolen, etc. I waited 30 minutes to return the vehicle and 30 additional minutes to partially resolve the issue. I will be in contact with the executive team, contacting someone to conduct an investigation regarding their rental practices and taking legal action if necessary. read more

i wish i read all the other similar reviews from this location in west palm beach, fl..... total scammers. picked up rental car on 12.17.25 which started off as a big 45 minute hassle. they weren't able to find the keys to the car i rented so they switched cars. the new car had an oil change light on but was told don't worry about it. i pointed out a bunch of damages on the car to the lady helping us who told us it was all documented; which is true- there were 39 listed damages on my agreement. i dropped off the car on 12.25.25 and today i got a $1,440.00 invoice for a scratch on the bumper. this is absurd and as a sixt member i will never use this company again. this location is run by a total scammer. issue resolved but not without added stress. first call this morning to the claims dept, i spoke with a lady (i won't give her name here) but just an awful person; she was trained to deny deny deny deny...... i knew it wasn't going to end well the second i said i record all my calls and she said she will have to hang up if recorded. i finally got an amazing woman named uzo on the phone. she very easily noticed this was a total bogus claim and removed the charges. i told her she got me back as a customer but i will never go to that wpb, fl location again. they are total scammers and are all trained to scam anyone that denies taking out their insurance. read more

BEWARE OF SIXT West Palm Beach - Hidden Fees and False Charges! If I could give zero stars, I would. My wife and I rented a pickup truck from Sixt Rent A Car in West Palm Beach, FL for 12 days while visiting her parents. We returned it on time, completely clean, with no damage, no smoke, and no animals--exactly as we received it. This morning, I opened the "final invoice" and nearly fell out of my chair. The cost of our rental had more than doubled after Sixt tacked on $400 for "odor removal" and a $75 "special cleaning" fee. Neither of us smoke, and we didn't transport anything other than luggage. It's a baseless charge--plain and simple. After doing some research, I discovered that we're far from alone. There are dozens of reviews describing the same shady behavior from Sixt: post-rental "damage" or "cleaning" fees for issues that didn't exist when the car was returned. It's starting to look less like bad luck and more like a pattern of deceptive billing practices. We've filed a dispute with our credit card company and are also submitting formal complaints to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the office of the atty General (James Uthmeier) and Consumer Protection offices in Florida and Connecticut and we encourage more people who have been scammed by Sixt in this way to do the same. If you value transparency, honesty, or basic business ethics--avoid Sixt like the plague. There are plenty of other rental companies that don't rely on surprise charges and questionable fees to pad their profits. Rented a car in January and they keep sending me a bill for damage that was already noted before I rented the car. They delete the old photos and make new ones when you return the car to blame them on you. I've been emailing them back and forth and they won't send me the pictures from the previous renter. I should have looked at more reviews before allowing my travel agent to book with this company. Added 326 euros onto my card after we returned with optional insurance, mobile services, and out of country fees we had declined at the airport. It took me from July 25th, 2025 to Sep 3, 2025 of constant emailing and calling to get the charges reversed. Even then, they kept 20 euros because they said our location surcharge had changed between the reservation quote ( which we paid in advance to our travel agent ) and the time we picked up the car. I'm a lawyer and rent cars all the time for work. Never have I ever had such a horrible experience! Having just had an excellent rental with Sixt in Jacksonville I figured I'd rent from West Palm. Big mistake. Forget about the fact that they are rude and no one there seems to want to work there. They told me to take pictures of car before I rented so I don't get charged. So I took a long video of the dozens of scratches. Upon return, they charged me for the scratches and refused to look at thanks video. I've sent the video to their team multiple times but they just keep billing me for almost $1000! In addition, I filled the car with gas right before pulling into the place. They tried to claim it wasn't full. I ended up driving back to the gas station only to have gas spill right out of the tank cause it was full. Got receipt for $1 and took it back. Crazy! I had the damaged photoed and documented in which they also did but tried blaming me anyway. After resolving that the next day i received a $128 charge for fuel. I was given the car, dirty, with 158 miles to empty. I returned the car with 240 miles to empty, much more fuel than i was provided. This was my first time renting from Sixt and It was A+ for a rental company. Every Employee I encountered was Polite, Friendly and outgoing. The experience at the Airport could have been easier if they just accepted the info I did online, but there was hiccup. The Shuttle was fine to and fro. The type of car I requested was what I got and very nice and clean received it quickly. My family used to rent frequently from SIXT until their "customer service" department insisted on charging us a $100 cancellation fee for a reservation that had to be cancelled due to a family member being in the hospital. We were good enough customers that waiving a $100 CXL fee should have not been a big issue due to the verifiable hospital circumstances - but they would not budge after going back and forth numerous times via email. Any company that treats solid repeat customers in that manner should be ashamed of their business practices - absolutely disgusting. On 9/25/13 I called the claims department and I spoke to one of the most unprofessional and rude customer service agents I've encountered in a long time! She had a Jamaican accent and that's the only information I have regarding her because she refused to give her name and didn't announce her name at the beginning of the call. To add insult to injury after I asked her to speak up because her phone was very low and I could barely hear what she was saying she kissed her teeth and hung up on me! I do not know if the poor experience was because I booked through Experian or with Sixt itself. I got in line at the rental counter at the airport when we arrived at West Palm Beach. They were two people in front of me and I was sort of listening to the conversation because it seemed like it was taking forever to get the contract signed. Both of them also went through Experian when booking their car and the agent at the desk indicated their vehicle was not ready but they could get a BMW in a better class a vehicle. That really caught my interest because I wanted to see if she offered that vehicle at a discounted rate or at the original BMW cost. In both cases these were clear upsell as the consumer was not offered any kind of discount. When it was my turn to get assistance, surprise, my vehicle was not available either but I could rent a BMW for additional whatever per day. I said that I wanted the vehicle that I rented which was at a much lower cost and somehow she found another vehicle that she could rent to me for that low cost. It just felt like a horrible upsell and I will never go through Experian or Sixt again. read more

I thought I would try a new way to rent a car when travelling to FL then the usual way I do through AAA, Costco or Expedia. SIXT had a good rate, unfortunately I chose them this time. They had a pre paid policy but I was heading to FL for 5 days and had no intention of cancelling my plans so went ahead and booked it. Any other time I have rented you pay when you pick up the car. 2 days before I was to pick up the car my travel partner received news that her father was in hospice and had 72 hours and she needed to get there to be with him. I cancelled my reservation with SIXT right away and was charged a $100.00 cancellation fee. I emailed the company to expain the situation for having to cancel the reservation and would they "waive" the fee this time and they replied: As stated in our prepaid terms and conditions, we charge a $100 cancellation fee for anything cancelled with more than 24hrs notice. This is a non-refundable fee. While we know you may be disappointed by our response, it is based on sound business practices which allows us to be fair and consistent. While attempting to check in the vehicle at the West Palm Beach location, the attendant started circling previously damaged parts of the vehicle. This is their way of keeping the security deposit. Quite possible they use photoshopped pictures upon renting, then always will have " paint scrapes and scratches" to charge you for.I will never use this company. However this location is laughable in regards to customer service, probably one of the worst ran rental places/places of business in south florida, and that is speaking volumes being that this place is the home of the scam. We recently used Sixt on our trip to Florida. Pick up was very easy, though they took forever trying to upsell us on bigger cars, satellite radio, GPS, and whatnot. That was a bit annoying. I actually told her it's no for everything but she said she still had to go through her list. All in all though, we were done in about 15 minutes and in our car. Drop off was a nightmare. There's no clear drop off line, you basically have to park in an adjacent strip mall and then....who knows? There was nobody there to process the drop off and no signs explaining what to do. So, we walked in the office to ask what the procedure was and they told us there was a guy outside that was going check the car. Problem is, he was nowhere to be found. There were 4 or 5 other customers waiting with and everyone was equally aggravated. We finally said something to the manager and he tracked the guy down, but we didn't appreciate the added travel stress. Sixt is always solid on price, and the car we got was fine so the fundamentals are solid. If the drop off procedure was improved, it would easily be a 4 or 5 star rental agency. read more

I strongly suggest you rent at a more reputable company. If you do rent here, please be very careful. Make sure you have the time to get to their far off airport location, to deal with their lack of staff or service. Make sure you are ok renting a beat up car that is likely 10 years old. And finally make sure you cover yourself with copious notes and photos because their business model seems to be to get damaged cars and then blame people for damage that was clearly already there.
