It really feels like you can find just about anything you might need in a pinch. This is where I do most of my day to day grocery shopping. The produce section is consistently good and the vegetables are always fresh. I also end up stopping here for a lot of quick trips. Sometimes I'll run in for popcorn and candy for a movie night, or grab an easy dinner from the sushi counter and pick up a pint of ice cream to go with it. I will say the sushi is a bit overpriced for the portion size, and you'll probably get a better value at Jungle Jim's. That said, Kroger sometimes discounts the sushi later in the day, which can be a good option just less fresh. They also occasionally have a small discounted produce section with older vegetables marked down. It's a nice idea and I love the concept of reducing food waste, but the section is pretty small and not always stocked. I'd love to see that expanded. Parking can occasionally be a bit of a nightmare depending on the time of day, but other than that it's a really convenient store. My only other wish is that they stayed open later. Overall, it's a solid place for both weekly grocery runs and quick last minute stops.

I've moved back to the area and needed to stop in here today. It wasn't busy at all and I found what I needed quickly and was on my way. The inside of this store hasn't been remodeled in years and it shows. The parking lot is filthy. There's a lot of garbage and giant pot holes. And nearly every cart corral that I saw was busted. It's obvious that corporate has forgotten about this Walmart. It's a shame because the people in that area need that store and deserve it to be remodeled and the parking lot safe. And the workers deserve a better store too.

This store is so nice. The downfall is the crappy management. The past month they have shit down…read morethe self checkouts. I have been told its because they have to have someone monitoring it because people were caught stealing. That is all fine and dandy until you have the staff and don't use them correctly. We have given this location a few weeks to get their ducks in a row and that was useless. Today (most likely my last time shopping here) I witnessed a manager with 3 staff members in store. 3 well abled employees were stocking whilst a poor little old lady was left alone to run the ONLY checkout lane available. The line grew to 8 people behind me and the manager just puts her head down and walks in and out of the office. MAAM you will not need to stock anything when people stop coming to wait in line for 30 minutes. If y'all are hiring, I know a couple outstanding managers that may help you out!

So what to do? Thankfully I remembered a dollar store right on the main street of Owensville. It was actually located right next to a field where we have parked in the past so I knew it was just a five or six minute walk from the fairgrounds. I figured I could find something there that would help. So while the wife took the rest of the kids I threw the injured one on top of my shoulders and off we went. It didn't take us long to get there (turned out to be a Dollar General). With child still on my shoulder I walked in and went in search of some socks. I figured wearing socks with new shoes would do the trick. After buying the socks, I stepped outside, stuck the kid on one of the grocery carts that were lined up in front of the store and started putting on the sock. The nice lady then popped out and mentioned that even with socks it might help to have Band-Aids on. Sounded like a great idea so I popped back in and got the Band-Aids while the kid waited outside. Then the nice lady suggested that I might want to consider getting some flips-flops just in case the other two options didn't work out. So, back in the store for a third time. Got everything I needed and it worked out well. Kid was all fixed up and we went back and had a blast at the fair. Now while I didn't have the chance to take a look at the entire store, the nice old lady that helped me out when I had an injured (i.e. whiny) kid was a God-send. Made it that much easier for me.
