Today I was shopping minding my own business when her and another associate (Amy) were standing around talking about a past employee..I didn't pay too much attention until I Heard them say the past employees name....this past employee is a good friend of mine, like family to me. I went up to them and said " excuse me but that is a friend of mine you are talking about and she is not here to defend herself. I think it is very unprofessional and slanderous to be talking about her like that...The manager took offense to my corrective action and told me to leave the store. I told her I would leave when I was done shopping. She was so angry that she called the Lowell police and told them I was a irate customer who refused to leave the store...They escorted me out...NEVER in my 68 years have I been treated like a criminal like this before..ALL for sticking up for a friend. She was rude from the time she opened her mouth until I walked out WITHOUT my intended purchases. There were major delays in check out. I was the next in line and waited 15 minutes and began to get a bit annoyed. It was obvious by my body language and others were annoyed too. While you will never confuse a Dollar Tree with a Hallmark, every once in awhile you just need one of those inexpensive store runs. Nice location in an L-shaped strip mall at the corner of 151st and LaGrange (Dominick's used to anchor this mall). Loads of parking, pretty messy store but not dirty, and they seem to be busy all the time. Employees are helpful, but they are sometimes hard to find - must be short staffed.
