One of the things that turns me off about cooking is that simple meals somehow turn into $80 trips to stop and shop. Part of it is because even if you only need a tablespoon of something, you have to buy a whole container of it. Not so at fiddleheads! Oats, rice, coffee, herbs, spices, you name it- you can buy as little or as much as you need. -the fresh local food. From salmon and beef to fruits and veggies, fiddleheads has a wide range of locally and responsibly sourced fresh food. Some things are seasonal, some things are constants, but the more you shop there you will quickly get an idea of what you can find and when. -of course, the staff. Every single employee I've interacted with in my many years of coming here has been friendly, helpful, and respectful. You see a lot of the same faces year after year, and I get the impression that people truly enjoy working there. They recently just celebrated 16 years in business, which is no small feat for a co-op swimming in a sea of big chain grocery stores. For me, it's certainly not hard to see why.

While losing the cash was very upsetting, the contents and the thought of replacing all was even more disturbing. The manager let us see the cameras to try and see if it had been dropped in the store, no luck there. Outcome, it had been turned in and locked up. All was there including the cash which we had given up hope of recovering. We offered a reward and was told no, that's what they do. We want to thank the manager William who went so far beyond normal customer service to help us. We also want to thank the staff, who not only turned it in but was so supportive and seemed genuinely happy for us when we returned to pick up the wallet. Easily accessible from one of new london's most well traveled roadways, this market is the place to shop if you need a large scale of grocery items, or are open to a changing selection of many great things. The parking is in a loding dock area, and the steps take you up to the retail store. Many of the local businesses and restaurants source their grocery and supplies from here, and whatever is left over is sold at market cost which I have found is routinely cheaper than anywhere else. The perimeter of the store is cold storage, with a really great selection of olives, cheeses and fruits, along with premade meals and sides. I compare this to a small scale Costco of sorts, they have many things but it's usually not portioned for an individual or a couple. The middle has dry goods, potatoes, onions, spices, and cleaning supplies, along with many goya brand products. The front counter has more spices, a place to freshly grind hard cheeses, and an area for marked down produce, canned goods, and specials. I have always been pleased with the quality, service, and prompt response of staff to questions. I would love to see them carry some more milk alternatives and meats, but I know that's not really the scale they're catering to. Second, this had to have been a former Kmart that slapped a Walmart sticker on the door and called it a wrap. The grocery section was very limited; the freezer and refrigerator section consisted of one half of an aisle each. There was no deli, no bakery and the aisles were TIGHT!
