The other day, I needed a few things and decided to try there instead of WalMart nearby. They had a ton of stuff on sale. I bought 10 pairs of shoes for 25¢ each (CENTS). No, I didn't need 10 new pairs of shoes, but c'mon. I was able to get a lot of grocery items on really good clearance. They didn't have a great selection, but good enough to get me through the weekend. They had a lot of stuff marked down to 25¢. I ended up spending $50 when I went in to buy about $3 worth of stuff. WHICH IS WHY I DON'T COME HERE!!! The guy that checked my stuff out was quiet but really nice. I had signed up for a Big Lots card a long time ago, but didn't have it. He really wanted me to get credit for the big purchase I made that day so volunteered to take the time to fix my old account so I'd get those "points" even when I told him he didn't really have to go to the effort if he was too busy. He wasn't that busy, so was perfecty happy to do it. I'll definitely go back, although I'll have to be careful not to buy too much.

They say no commission but they get certain perks when selling stuff so guaranteed they get something. They have a pretty good selection of helium balloons and they'll blow one up special for you at your request, but they typically only have 1 cashier, so you have to "bother him/her" to get it done for you. Customer service remains to be seen at this store. The primary cashier during the day, I've seen for three years now, and she has the same unchanging personality. (Why am I here? - syndrome) I very rarely have anyone else as a cashier besides the same woman during the day, and she exudes a do not bother me personality. The store is immaculately clean and even though the parking lot looked fuller, it didn't seem busy inside. Most of the shoppers were elderly people. The carts are nice and ergonomic it seems. There was a woman collecting carts from the outside and continually bringing them inside. It seemed darker in this store compared to Walmart and HyVee but everything was very neat and the produce section looked very fresh and neatly displayed. The beef section was more limited and I feel like the butcher would continually bring out a new product as people purchased some. That was what I was there to primarily buy. The rest of animal protein was displayed like other stores. The aisles were wide and neatly organized. They don't have as much selection as Walmart (food) or HyVee but it's a nice neighborhood store. I only saw the butcher, deli worker, shop cart attendant and a woman working the self serve area though. The parking lot is kind of a negative because it's shared with many other businesses in a strip mall so it's hectic.
