Walking in, you can see that they are serious about keeping things cool- this is one of very few grocers that I've seen that sells huge blocks of ice, not little cubes in a bag, but big bricks of the cold stuff. Inside the store, you'll see all kinds of Cajun foods that you can't get in Yankee land. I enjoyed looking through their pre-made foods for their southern style cooking. The store was a bit dated, and not as fancy as some that you may have been in, but it makes up for it in charm. They have lots of the best Cajun brands, as well as some national ones as well. The prices were a bit higher than some other stores, but you're out here in the bayou, so it's hard to get. The clerks were friendly though. There's a small liquor store in the corner of the store. I put my things on the counter, keeping in mind I have never been into the store before and chose to go here over Piggly Wiggly, Edra begins checking me out and looks at me and says everyone is coming in here for spaghetti today. I say oh we all must be on the same wavelength. Then she proceeds to say, "y'all are all lazy because y'all don't make your sauce from scratch." It took every being of my cell to not react to this very out of line statement. I don't care who you are, how old you are, what position you hold calling customers that are choosing to come to your store over other grocery stores that I had to pass up to get here is flat out rude. I just looked at her smiled and said I hope that you have a great day. For lots of people from out of town it is a must stop at while in Western Louisiana for some of their wonderful Boudin or their nearly world famous jalapeño sausage cheese bread. As you walk into the store the sweet smell of meat being gently smoked wafts through the store. The boudin election is impressive and ranges from green onion to traditional, crawfish in season, deer, and a newer jalapeño boudin.
