I knew that we had a pay a visit while in town. What a great experience! Schroeder's has been open since 1891. While I loved learning about their history...it's a great place to shop. Schroeder's has a coffee house, men's and women's clothing, a yarn shop, bookstore, a toy store, souvenirs and all sorts of other merchandise. I bought a few books and a pair of moccasin slippers. My friends bought t-shirts and a puzzle. The people working the store were helpful, friendly and truly passionate about Schroeder's history. This is a store that has managed to stay true to its heritage, but stay relevant. If you're in the Manitowoc/Two Rivers area, Schroeder's Department Store is a must stop kind of place. They have a large selection of everything you might be looking for as decorations for your home or garden, such as fairy garden and gnome house supplies. There are larger patio or garden decorations too, Take in the art work, air plants, and don't forget specialty gifts. Don't forget to enjoy the scents from the tea corner. They are just to die for! I know that it isn't the largest store in the world, but it takes about 30 minutes to peruse through. They do have a great selection of new books and are usually very up-to-date when it comes to that. I recently lost stones from different rings and was told by a local jeweler where we live now that the rings weren't worth fixing. I was told that the only thing holding them together was the dirt. These rings didn't mean much to them(as they hadn't sold them to us) but were very sentimental to me. I was quoted for one ring that the repair would be over $1000! I decided to take them to Dalebroux. They were so nice to me. The total price for both rings to be repaired and stones replaced was less than $400. They came back looking brand new. I have since brought more rings in to be looked at that I was told locally couldn't be fixed. Funny, Dalebroux is fixing them and they are replacing missing stones. I don't know what is wrong with our local jeweler, unless they can't or won't fix anything they did not sell. Before you make any decisions about getting jewelry fixed, or before you buy new, check out this little store in Two Rivers.
