It's my hometown market! Very close by, nice selection and friendly people! The remodel was needed…read moreand it looks and feels very fresh and organized here. It is much larger, more open and they are able to provide more choices and variety. The deli expanded and they added a high quality fresh butcher shop type meat section along with a wide variety of packaged fresh meats. They also have fresh fish. I inquired and they said the fish goes quickly so there is good turnover. Yes, the prices are a little higher here. I do take that into consideration and also look for their weekly specials and sales, which they do have. The positive trade off is that there are many lanes open, quality items and a hometown feel which makes for a nice grocery store experience.

Busch's is the closest grocery to me, but I rarely go there. The main reason is their ridiculous…read moreprices. They think they are Whole Paycheck (Foods). For example, this week they have their cabbage "On Special" for $.89 per lb. This is the normal price at Kroger and Meijer and other store in my area. Kroger and Meijer has their cabbage on sale this St. Patties week for $.49. The store is very well stocked and very nice on the inside, but its not worth the extra 25%+ premium you might pay for similar items at other local grocery stores. The only time I go to Busch's is when they have a lost leader item on sale that happens to be a good deal. This is rare however.

Another great trip to One world market! I am noticing so many little and big changes within this…read morestore. Greater varieties and diversity and expansion. The premade food choices are growing by the day. They are always adding to their offerings with new flavors and tastes. I started coming to One world market in 1997 when it was first home by a husband and wife team. It was very special at that time to have a Japanese focused grocery store and I was so happy to have one in the Novi area. This has been my go-to for decades now. When it was transitioning from private ownership to the Noble Village group, owned by True World group, there was a transitional decline, thankfully, that didn't last long and things are developing very nicely. I hear even more growth is on the horizon as they establish an even greater presence in the building next door. I am also thankful that the integrity and the high-quality is very much present and everything they do. The service is always top notch and they try to open up a lot of lanes so people get through quickly because it is busier than ever. The word is definitely out. I've seen a lot of posts on social media and it's bringing in an even greater crowds, which is fantastic! Note: the on-line ordering is also so convenient and their sushi platters are high-level!

We dined at the Marketplace for lunch. The service was pretty decent! Ordered using the QR code and dined there. There's no table service. We got the sides: rice with miso soup, Pork Katsu, Some type of grilled Salmon and Udon Noodle Soup. The food was great with reasonable pricing! The portion felt more Asian size. Not too huge which we loved. Definitely going to be back to try their Sushi Nigiri and Shasimi. Do stop by, you won't be disappointed!

Beautiful thing about these smaller sized Korean grocery markets is that they have mom n' pop feel…read moreto them. No, they wouldn't have as great of selections as your giant chain marts, but they have the essentials ready for the locals, and their owners are usually very friendly and helpful. When you become regulars, they're usually very good to take care of you in one manner or another. (Please note that I'm not speaking specific to Kappa only, but more in general.) As for my experience at Kappa, it was pleasant enough. Mark-ups weren't as bad as some of the other smaller places I've been to, and I loved the fact that they have house-made prepackaged food available. They also heavily advertise their banchans a lot, which is in line with most of these smaller joints. Koreans call it "son mat" which our trusty AI friend describes it like this: "Son-mat (손맛) is a Korean word that means "hand taste" and is used to describe the unique flavor that comes from a cook's skill, care, and personal touch. It can also refer to the idea of passing down the love and care that mothers put into their cooking to their loved ones." This is especially important because it's what will get your customers coming back for more. The trouble is that these smaller groceries are mainly targeted for locals nearby. I happen to live 90 minutes away, and if I have to do my quarterly Korean grocery shopping, I'm more inclined to go to a bigger chain mart, unless there's a very specific reason to pick one over the other. I would certainly recommend Kappa for people who are in the area, not looking to stock up for the next 3 months. As for me, one visit was very pleasant, but enough.
