Price? $3 MORE at TOPS for "large" eggs that are visibly smaller. Butter: almost $2 MORE at TOPS. Coffee: same brand, $2 MORE at TOPS. Dairy products: Limited to 2 brands at TOPS, similar products at the "competition", again, $2 MORE at TOPS and better "Sell By" dates at the competition. Beef? Even the employees of TOPS won't buy their own beef because it smells "off" and goes bad within a day of purchase. Locally, VERY FEW buy their beef because it makes them ill. SO, I purchased the "Grass Fed Organic" pre-packaged beef at almost $12/lb . In the refrigerator, 3 days later, it was grey, smelled as if it had died! Useless. Potatoes? Tops brand, 5;b bag. 3 days later, half the bag had rotted, water in the bag and the stench was so bad I had to take the whole thing and bury it DEEP in the back yard! Couldn't put it in the garbage bin and wouldn't put it in the car to return. All of this is common, regular, normal for Tops. And when I telephoned "Corporate", I was told "Sorry you were inconvenienced." and hung up on. They have no competition in town so obviously, they don't have to care. Buyer beware.

I had a meat thermometer in it so when it reached the medium rare temperature I assumed it was done. I cut into and confirmed some pink inside. I noticed several kids drawings on the wall. She explained they were done by children of customers while the parents shopped and she then hung them up like a parent would do. She pointed out different ones with stories about these returning children who would be excited to see their picture on the wall and even years later point them out to others. They sell cards for all occasions, so when you need that last minute birthday card for your sig other you can come here. They have laundry detergent, mouthwash, various kitchen utensils, soaps and the like. Then they have a selection of glasses, real ones, nice ones. And then a selection of food items, things like "soup in a cup", so for that day you can't face the supermarket, come here. All things priced in the 50 cent to 2 dollar range from what I noticed. I'm guessing they are targeting the University kids, being on that strip, but the whole neighborhood benefits from a place like this.
