Super Baazar has moved to a larger location right down the street. I was happy to see how much larger it is since that was an issue with their original place. It's so much nicer having room to walk around. Service, as usual, was great. Was just sad that they ran out of fresh samosas that we normally grab at the registers when checking out. Came here to grab some ingredients to make my own mustard, I walked in and was immediately greeted and asked what I needed. When I told them mustard seeds and mustard powder they led me right down the aisle to where they were. I looked around a little bit but would love to spend more time in here. Love this store. My go to place for Indian spices and foods. They have a great selection of spices, frozen prepared foods, fresh produce, breads, rice, dried peas & beans, jarred & packaged foods and much much more. I always grab a fresh made warm Samosa when I'm there. I like to cook and eat Indian food so I continuously have to replenish my pantry. A little secret I want to share is that even if you don't cook with Indian spices, many common spices can be purchased there at a much lower cost per ounce than the big box stores. The crowded nature of the store may be a little offputting to some when you first walk in but keep an open mine and consider how much great stuff is fit into a fairly small space. I enjoy walking around the store because I never know what interesting new spice or food I may find. If you prefer, you can ask for assistance finding things, they are very helpful. This is our go to shop for basmati rice and samosas, but we came back recently to get mustard seed and mustard powder for an upcoming Yelp event. Super Bazaar along with the rest of the businesses in this plaza are undergoing a major reconstruction at the moment. Parking is a little tight due to this however when the project is completed I'm sure this plaza will be hopping with new customers and looking great. This is a good grocery store if you're interested in South Asian fresh vegetables, fruits desserts, spices, frozen entrées and specialty items. Prices are competitive with other similar stores in the area owned by other Asians and Indians. The owners, originally from Kashmir, have been in business a long time and I've seen customers from all cultures and walks of life in their store. I'm surprised and in disbelief to hear that the other Yelp reviewer Sujata found the owner of this store to be racist. I don't understand why she vowed never set foot again in this establishment after her first bad experience there with her American boyfriend along, but then she again stepped foot into this store due to some GPS problem only to hear another racist comment??! I don't think the problem is with her GPS, it's with her more likely. Anyway I think the store is great it's been brown for a long time they must be doing something right. read more

I typically like this place. My roommate (who is from India) and I shop here about once a month. However, the other day we bought a box of 8 frozen Samosa's and, when we went to open them, I noticed the box was taped shut and had already been opened. So we thought, "ok, maybe it was just damaged during shipping." But then I pulled out the food... The plastic wrap had been cut and 2 of the 8 Samosa's were missing! So, apparently these guys opened the box, took food out, then tried to reseal the package (poorly) and sold it to us at full price!! Now, maybe I'm an idiot for not noticing the box had been tampered with...but seriously, who would expect this?!? So now I'm thoroughly grossed out, I threw them away, but who knows what else they've opened?!? I liked this place but I just can't shop here again. Super Bazaar is a cool treasure trove of Indian imports in the heart of the Northtown 'burbs. It's a bit chaotic in there, but the owners are friendly and nice. Probably the most appealing offerings inside are the freshly-made naan and samosas. The latter are sold fresh and warm out of a tinfoil container for buck apiece, and come with the standard sweet sauce. Paired with some fun drinks, this would make a nice, cheap alternative to fast food on a day of feverish Niagara Falls Boulevard shopping. There are also like five different kinds of flavored banana chips, from black pepper to mango-curry. And all kinds of grains and nuts in bulk, and enough strange fruits and vegetables to make a botanist blush. And that's without mentioning the huge refrigerated section stuffed with pre-made roti and Indian convenience meals, which would take me a lifetime to understand, much less explore. But I'd like to start somewhere, so hey, Indian food gurus, if you're reading this - please send me your suggestions! read more

I don't come here often, but this place has not failed to impress me every time. Sure, it feels a little disorganized, but in practice everything is easy to find. Huge bags of rice, pre-made curries and sauces, frozen Indian dinners (super competitively priced) and even fresh tomatoes (at great prices: ie 99c/lb). Located in Amherst, a few miles away from UB's North Campus it's a convenient location for those suburban sprawler's or college kids who live close to UB. I come here to buy curry paste for when I'm feeling lazy of making my own and it's pretty good, costs $3 and lasts me for up to 6 months. Yum :). If you cook a lot of Indian and don't want to pay Wegman's prices for spices, come to the Super Bazaar :)! read more

Overpriced Indian food. The only perk is that they offer a free pick-up & drop service. Makes shopping very easy, especially if you're a student without a car. Wal-Mart is right across the street, which makes grocery shopping really easy. The owner is also extremely rude and racist. When I went shopping here with my American boyfriend, he made a very racist comment. Since then I have vowed never to set foot in this store. That's what I tell my friends & family too. I accidentally went their recently (picked the wrong "bazaar" on my GPS results), and that day the owner was asking racially-inappropriate things to an Asian woman & her mother. Granted there aren't many choices when it comes to Desi groceries in the Buffalo area, but Super Bazaar could hold its own just among similarly-sized groceries about anywhere in the US. I've only ever seen about 3 people working there, so I think Super Bazaar is probably a family-owned and run business. The 3 staffers are generally pretty helpful and are happy to explain what something is. This is necessary sometimes because not all of the wide variety of produce and herbs are labeled. Super Bazaar also has a wide selection of rice and grains. Sure, you could also get Basmati rice at Wegmans, but it would cost a lot more. On weekends, Super Bazaar sells what might be the best samosas I have ever eaten. I'm not sure how authentic they are, but they have all the positive characteristics of good samosas and none of the bad characteristics of the lousy ones. The dough is tender, flaky and rich without being oily, like a perfect pie crust. This leads me to believe that it might be baked instead of fried. The potato filling is fluffy but not dry and well seasoned but not salty. Rounding out the experience are little containers of sweet-sour tamarind and spicy green chile sauces. To top it off, they're inexpensive! Like $1 or $1.50 a piece. Pick up a few for your next weekend get-together! read more

This place is simply wonderful. As a person who loves to cook and loves to try cooking new kinds of food this place is the mecca of spices and all things middle east. They have crazy cheap produce and sometimes you can stumble upon a new kinds of packaged goods. I've been going here for quite some time and the more you go the more the owners recognize you and help you! Sometimes they'll even show you the "good produce" haha. The owners are funny and are very helpful if you're new to this kind of store. I enjoy the service and the way they answer your questions ** My absolute favorite part about this store are the Potato Samosas you can get for $1 each. They are simply delicious! Quite often I find myself turning into this almost forgotten plaza just to pick up a few of these delicious treats. This is a great place to pick up your favorite ingredients for Indian dishes. You'll see a wide variety of things you've never seen before. If you're cooking an Indian meal, come here first instead of Wegmans if you're in the Amherst area. Prices are very competitive....for common things like rice and spices. Cheeeeap spices. We moved from DC to Buffalo in 2007 and Super Bazaar was the first shop we entered. The owners recognized that we are new to Buffalo and gave the lay of the land. From that day onwards we have become close friends. Super Bazaar owners used to give rides both ways for University at Buffalo students which is a great boon for someone not having a car. Post Corona days, they take phone orders and deliver to them. They did free grocery for students who had to go through tough times due to Corona. All in all a very good place for Indian groceries and a friendly conversation. read more

Nice Indian grocery store with some interesting foods. They have lots of frozen Indian dishes, desserts, breads, etc. I definitely will be buying naan and pita from here in the future, as they have many different varieties. I was disappointed by their spice selection. It is understandably mostly spices used in Indian cooking, but I was accustomed to Indian stores having an entire spice market with bin after bin of affordable spices. They do have a good to decent selection of rice, grains, and beans. Most of their beans I could also find at Wegman's or Tops International, but they are the only place that seems to carry couscous in bulk. In short, an interesting and great place to explore, but not as useful as I thought it would be. read more

I lived in Buffalo for about 3 years while going to school. I miss Nothing about Buffalo, not the people, not the cheap livin', definitely not the weather, but I do miss Super Bazaar. For a city the size of Buffalo, Super Bazaar is as good as it gets for an Indian grocery store. Good: Curry leaves (the best and freshest I have ever tasted), fresh samosas and other assorted pakoras, excellent selection of dried snacks, rice, dals, frozen foods. They have some of the most interesting roti/chapatis, naans and pitas I've ever seen. They even have a decent selection of Indian beauty products, housewares and pooja items. Bad: the fresh produce is really variable, depends on the day you go or the day they get their stuff. That said, the curry pata were always fresh. The best produce is found across the street at the Chinese grocery store, but they are not as clean Super Bazaar. They don't have a great inventory management system, but the twin managers are always really helpful. read more

Super Bazaar is a great place to shop, and it's a great place to go more as a culinary excursion. I usually go in the fall to stock up for winter and then again in the spring to replace what I'm out of. I would go more often if it wasn't so far from my house. It's an amazing place to buy spices, incense, dried beans and peas for cooking and sprouting and also teas and rices are priced fantastic. If you like Bollywood films, you can get those there too, and the staff is happy to spend time with you to pick out groceries and movies!! I also buy some of the sweets from the cooler when I go, and also love to buy their Samosas. This is a great place and if you haven't been there...go!! read more

This store is a hidden gem in the shopping plaza at Sheridan and Bailey, just west of Walmart. The staff is friendly and there's a good selection of foodstuffs at reasonable prices. I love the mango juice from India, the homemade samosas (just $1 each), the great selection of Indian cuisine frozen meals, and the Cadbury bars, which are made in India using a higher quality chocolate than those made in the US. For Diwali, they carry a large assortment of delicious treats. read more

The prices here are freaking high. 5 dollars for a packet of toor dal??? It is $2.99 at another indian places. They offer pick up and drop and that is the only reason some of us, students go there for groceries. There was this tall, fair man, supposedly the owner, who refused to drop us back only because we did not spend so much money there. That was ridiculous. They have never mentioned a pick up and drop service will need a minimum purchase. Myself, and atleast 20 other students are never going there again. read more

Well... I have lived in Buffalo for 9 full years and so can rate Super Bazaar with some authority. Granted, the two brothers are welcoming people, help out car-less grads etc. They also have the best and cheapest vegetable section of all Indian stores in this area. The reason for 1 star though is that they seem to be genuinely careless about the quality of their bottled products. More often I find items beyond their expiry dates on their shelves. I found items that have turned rancid even before I opened them. So watch out before you buy! Look at the mfg and exp dates. read more
