Dollar Tree - Discount Store Near Me - Folsom, California

Best dollar store yet. I am a little sad that I'm paying three and five dollars for items that used to be $1.25, but I know that it is not the Store associates fault for the increase in prices. The store manager and employees are happy and helpful. They are always super friendly. In fact a week or two ago, they even had somebody walking around in the store and aisles asking if they could help us locate things. Who does that? It was super amazing Amazing. The fact that they actually knew where it was located and offered to take me there rather than point and walk off was even more amazing. read more

It's a Dollar Tree. The place has less merch than the two other shops in town. But still has enough to make it worthwhile visit if you are in that part of town. Like all places now a days, they are dealing with staffing shortages. The weekend morning, I dropped in, they were understaffed. One staff was cleaning and putting out merchandise. They only had one cashier. She was during a great job, moving the line. But the majority of customers in line had poopy attitudes. I can see how that takes a toll on staff. I stopped in to grab some greeting cards ( 2 for $1 and $1.25), 6-8 packs of thank you cards $1.25, and party decorations $1.25.Most items are marked at $1.25. Not quite the Dollar Tree, more like the $1.25 Tree! Right now I'm mid August, they have Halloween, Thanksgiving, Autumn, and Christmas items. Came in here today for a few items. There were 2 people working. When it came time to check out the one worker went on break even though there was a line of people needing to check out. I waited in line about 20 minutes and by the time it was my turn there were about 15 people in line behind me. People were actually leaving their carts and leaving due to the line. Ridiculous. No reason there should only be 1 register open and 2 workers. read more

First of all they were late opening... the lady was clearly not ready for work.. she smelled so bad from smoking!! None of the papers were ready to go... so I went to get them myself... I have a job too and picking up the paper for my senior residents is part of it.. She tells me, I'll get those sir!! You just get in line!! Like, bish if you had them ready in the first place the ten people waiting outside in the rain for the paper would have been gone steady! People come there at 8am like clock work to get the paper! I shopped at the store today . The cashier's manners left a lot to be desired . I shopped for hotwheels and found two complete boxes in the toy area . I put the cars on the pegs and set aside the ones I liked . When I was done stocking the pegs I put my selection in an unused box . When she saw me she asked where I got those ? She was probably meaning the cars but then she said "oh - i meant the box because they shouldn't be left in customer area". She addressed me in a rude tone . I asked her a few more questions and I kept getting kurt responses . I have no idea as to why whe was so rude and I won't offer my theories . I am not naming the employee . She is probably having a bad day but it is not fair to take it out on the customers . I have frequented the establishment for many years and this is the first time I got this kind of treatment . Worst store ever, never seen such rude and insulting cashier! His name is Tanner. He refused to exchange an open box item and got mad and shouted at us with a $20 bill:"Just get out of here. If you want money, take it and out" when we asked why he didn't mention it when we asked him the return policy during the purchase. IT I IS INSULTING!!! Don't go to that store, bad management and rude people there!! I would give them 0 or negative rating if I could!!! I'm so glad we have a Dollar Tree in Folsom. They really have forced regular grocery stores and pharmacies to lower their prices. I buy all my liquid hand soaps, cotton swabs, nail polish remover, stocking stuffers and comet here. It took me a long time to come around to shop here but now I'm hooked. They also have a wide variety of cooking spices from which to choose. Greeting cards at 2 for $1.00. How can you beat that? I also like the people this store hires. They are all very interesting, genuine and unique individuals who are always willing to go that extra step to help. read more

Came here to get Christmas decor was met with a rude, extremely racist, volatile employee who refused to check out my fiancé because he was trying to keep a 6 foot distance. Just left this store and had to write this review. The sales clerk was extremely sick. I didn't even take my change nor get a receipt because I didn't want to touch what she just touched. She stated that they wouldn't let her go home; she had to come into work sick and work as a cashier. I checked out the reviews on Yelp before I arrived and was excited to visit this HUGE Dollar Tree. I've driven past it numerous times and now actually had a purpose to go in. I was looking for candle holders for my candles that I would place in the living room and wanted to be crafty and make candle pillars out of two candle holders (by hot glueing them together). I went online and searched their website for candle holders and yes they did have some online. I called their store to ensure that they had it in the store only to be told by the person that answered the phone to call back in 5 minutes. No apology or no customer service whatsoever, just "can you call back in 5 minutes?". Okay, I never called back because I was busy. I drove in, went inside and found what I was looking for. Their employees were not working very hard, appeared to be talking about personal matters in front of customers, even the guy ringing people up was talking to another employee across the way and making stupid jokes. Really, what ever happened to focusing on the customer and engaging the customer by having a conversation with the customer. Hello?! My sister is having a baby girl in January and so I headed to the meager craft isle and decided on making a name plaque to hang on her wall. Five bucks got me a square wooden piece with a ribbon attached for hanging, pastel cotton balls, miniature cutouts of ducks and bunnies and some adorable beads - which I will use to spell out her name - and a small picture frame which I will glue to the middle of the plaque. I will do this for my adult friends, too. I will act like it's a real present and say "do you like it??" with all the earnest intonation I can muster. read more

My mom was there today she was so upset with the indian lady on the cash register because she was rude to her!!! My mom had a hard time talking because of history of open heart surgery !!! The Dollar Store is my secret go-to place for buying balloons for just about any occasions. Mylar balloons at the grocery store start at $3.99 each for the small ones and can go up to $20 for large ones. The dollar store has a great selection of mylar balloons for-- you guessed it-- one dollar. They only have the small sized ones but you can get a bunch and give someone 5-6 balloons for less than the cost of 2 balloons at the grocery store. I've purchased balloons here for birthdays, holidays (just picked up a ton of red, white and blue star balloons for the 4th), etc. It really is an awesome deal. I also go to Dollar Store for gift boxes (the ones you put shirts or whatever in and then wrap over). A pack of these is also way overpriced at regular gift wrap stores but at the Dollar Store you get 3 for a buck. I can't bring myself to buy these anywhere else because I know I can get them for a buck at the Dollar Store. I recommend stocking up before Christmas because around Christmas season these boxes can be scarce. They also usually have a decent supply of other gift wrap items, such as tissue paper and gift bags. It is definitely worth checking out! read more

Very impressed with Natasha as manager when I called this store to ascertain the status of my ship-to-store code that would not match anything on the .com's website. A very educated and efficient search and response quickly followed while I was on the phone, with a plea to please call her (by name) back the next day when shipments would arrive. This is the kind of interaction I normally have with a bank or investment company - VERY professional. My arrival to pick up the cases that were delivered even EARLIER than promised met with the day's manager clerking for long lines (think: "upcoming Thanksgiving") but still immediately called a floor clerk to help me. Both women were extremely nice and attentive, even though I noticed the line of people going through check-out next to me lacking any ability to smile, say something other then "yes" or "no" and, frankly, were quite unkind to the clerks. One adult I noticed later sharing a snack outside seemed to have no problem being happy while interacting with the youngster who had been imprinted with such abhorrent store behavior in the store 5 minutes prior... I highly recommend this store for the helpful people I have interacted with there - folks stocking the shelves, included - since discovering this easy-to-access storefront. I found many items to ready for the holidays ahead of time (tp that won't ruin septic tanks with a crowd using it for an entire week!), and it's a wonderful gem to have for those trying to live in Folsom on little as well as those like me who have more. AND, please, try this place for your crafts before you go elsewhere; our church bought candle holders for charity here that looked even nicer than the $4 ones at craft stores nearby! Although the stock is usually very good at this location, the service on busy days during peak season is awfully slow and understaffed. Will this deter me from visiting this dollar tree? Nope. Will I unhappily sip my well-priced beverage while I wait in line for 15 minutes before they get another cashier from the back? Absolutely. Like any Folsomite, I think it's great we have a dollar store. It's a great place to go for cheap items or basics that you don't want to give an arm for. Decently sized and plenty of options whether you are hunting for seasonal, party, or office supplies, cheap cooking utensils, simple beauty supplies, or family movie candy. I like this dollar store and plan on continuing to shop here. I just think they need to plan a little better during the busy seasons during holidays and graduation ;) read more

I went in looking for a specific product and the cashier overheard me asking my husband if he was able to locate it. She asked what I needed and proceeded to help me try and locate it. Even though they didn't have the item, she referred me to dollartree.com stating that if I had the old packaging I could use the product number to order it. Great store for products but the rudest assistant manager. Spent about 30 minutes getting stuff, the Systems shut down randomly, they evacuated the entire place. People wanting to pay cash for all stuff, workers said no while getting everybody out. I have been shopping at this location for years, although the selection of items is alright, in the past few months the store is always sloppy. One big pain in the a** is they only have one register open no matter how long the line. The employess have always been very polite and nice, as they should. One of the BIG reasons I don't shop here as often as I did is because you can not take the shopping carts out of the store. Guess the employees are just too lazy to go and collect them. How is someone supposed to carry 10 rolls of paper towels to their car????? What if someone wants to buy a few boxes of Kleenex??? You need to be able to take the damn cart to your car. I went to this store to buy wrapping paper. Here it is, a Saturday in December and yet there was only 1 cashier open. The line was crazy long and most carts were full so it was a slow moving line. I had many errands to run today and did not appreciate the poor customer service I found in this store. When it was finally my turn, I asked the cashier if I could speak to the manager. I used to work in retail and I know keeping customers waiting to check out forever and a day is bad for business. I wanted to suggest they add more cashiers. After waiting what seemed like an eternity, I finally left. The cashier said as I was leaving "so you don't want to speak to the manager?", I said "no, even the manager doesn't seem to care how long they make customers wait so I won't be back". I should have gone to Hallmark. Better selection and way better service. Yes, it's more expensive but I value my time too. read more

Love the dollar store for the fun items and bargain prices....do not love the poor customer service. I was in the $ store today and had a return. Brand new unopened Saran Wrap and zip bags. The clerk Shasta made a big deal about the return in front of a line of people and left her current customer waiting while she argued about the return policy. I actually had to tell her to continue to help her customer and I would come back. So instead of disrupting the other customers I located a manager who explained the policy ( which is a horrible one but not his fault) and agreed to exchange my whopping 3 items. He said the profits were low because everything was a dollar, I explained the profits are high because the costs are extremely low and everything is from China! Anyway, when I got to the front Shasta loudly explained again we cannot return your items, I told her that it was ok because I got approval from a manager. Shasta was furious and then started rolling her eyes and whispering to her current customers in line who proceeded to look over their shoulders at me. We are talking about $3 here people! Even though this is the older and smaller Dollar Tree now that the new one has gone in over off Blue Ravine, I still prefer this store hands down. The people that work here are so friendly and helpful. They never hesitate to look in the back for an item if it appears to be out of stock and at one point when I was on the hunt for a seasonal item and having no luck finding it locally, one of the employees offered to stop by the South Sacramento store on his way home to check their inventory and then give me a call the next day to let me know what he found. I just really and truly appreciate their great customer service. As opposed to the new Blue Ravine store where they are always so rude and put out by being asked questions. The store seems fine--fairly well-stocked and organized. They are rarely out of the items like I generally like to buy here. I've gone to this store for years and can def. note that there's been a steady decline in customer service--namely at the check out! The check out here is PAINFULLY slow--and they seem to have two gears--slow and slower! There never seems to be any sense whatsoever of urgency--sometimes I marvel while I'm waiting for the person in front of me to check out with her $30 worth of glass ware--while i'm watching the clerk slowly wrap up each item in newspaper--that the employees behind him stocking and the line behind me growing--why don't they open another register or PLEASE get a self-check out system already! I'm not even an impatient person--but, it's just that utter lack of efficiency that grates on me! My last couple of trips here--I've been coming to the conclusion that I'd rather not save the few bucks--if it means I won't be put through a ring of Dante's Inferno to get my envelopes and tape! read more

The best place to buy gift bags, cards, bows and tissue hands down. I stocked up at Christmas and saved a fortune. Great gift tags too. Oh and I bought some great glasses that would have cost at least $5 each had I bought them at another retailer. I'm not big on dollar stores in general but this place is great. read more
