Had to raise the stars after a very positive experience ordering a custom cake and sandwich tray for my son's birthday party. Not to mention the rest of the food and drinks we purchased for the party. It was such an easy process to order the cake and choose the flavor, design, and even the color of the message I wanted. Tip: fill out the paper order form in store instead of through the app. In store, they ask for only a 24 hour notice but may be able to accommodate a shorter notice so don't be afraid to ask! The half sheet cake is huge and an amazing value!! Less than $30!!! I got to choose my pickup time and the bakery brought it out to my shopping cart right away. We were so happy with how everything turned out. From the fruit to veggie tray to hummus and big bag of pita chips to the cherry coke/orange Fanta/sprite variety pack, sparkling water, bottled water, and Kirkland brand of Gatorade type drinks, everything was top quality and reasonably priced. The garlic spread for the sandwiches is so tasty! The sandwich tray came with pickles too! It was important to our family to not only have a tasty lunch to serve, but to be able to include healthy snacks too. It really took away a lot of the stress of party planning to be able to get most of our necessities at costco. Highly recommend placing your custom cake orders here and getting your party food and ice in one swoop. We even found a cooler with wheels that was just the right size for all the drinks too. My Northern California family just rejoined Costco and I'm so glad. Went to the Folsom, California location. The service was excellent. Cameron in customer service answered all of our questions and was so professional and knowledgeable and friendly. This store has a great selection of all types of things. They even had something that were sold out online at this location. Everyone knows when you shop at Costco you save money. Note: Been back a couple of times since writing my original review. Excellent service with 99.9 percent of the employees. One lady seemed a little stressed. She was in customer service and was short and wasn't very helpful. I've been to this Costco a couple of times. My main reason for going today was to get my tire inspected as the low air tires light keeps appearing. I was able to get an appointment the same day booking online. I wish there was an easier way to get to the appointment link, it took me about five minutes to find the correct link. After checking into my appointment, I browsed the store and there were so many good deals. I was able to restock on my supplements and protein shakes. Also love the free sample. As I was browsing, I received a call regarding my tires. Shout out to Robert for being patient, helpful, and answering all my questions. He was able to explain to me what the cause was and give me a credit on my remaining tread. I did get two tires instead of one based on his recommendation, and was able to keep the other one as a spare. read more

During my most recent shopping experience, the bagger at the register told me "ALL" items need to be on the belt. Since I haven't shopped at a Costco for several months, I was unaware of this new rule which I found to be odd. But as he was telling me this, he plopped down two multipack Bounty paper towels on top of the items already on the belt. Items on the belt included plastic carton of eggs, plastic container of macaroons, and open box of tomatoes. Yes he did...thoughtlessly dropped the weighty Bounty towel packs. He obviously didn't care. Plus this rule is arbitrarily applied as I noticed the other registers didn't adhere to this rule. Also, as I was loading my items into my car, sure enough, I saw several Valentine macaroons cracked. Good grief! And later that same day, I went to the Costco in Woodland. As I was putting the items in the belt; they let me keep the items in my cart which I only had four items. A couple of them were heavy and awkwardly shaped. The checkout duo in Folsom emphatically said have all items had to be on thr belt no exceptions. In Woodland, they gladly scanned my items in the cart and moved the line quickly. read more

Here is an example of auto pay dysfunction.. 93 year old calls to cancel his membership for he does not do his own shopping anymore. OMG this was a major nightmare. The first person we spoke with wanted to sell him a cheaper membership and could only do this function and take payment, but could NOT cancel his membership AND/OR costco credit card. We were passed back and forth between an identified costco helper and the costco credit card company helper.. We have no idea if it was handled and will need to follow up in 5-7 days. I came in to this location because I work right around the corner. Normally I go into the Woodland or Natomas locations. I was shocked that I was able to order a contact prescription refill, grab a few items, and grab a hot dog combo with a chocolate chunk cookie in under 20 minutes during the lunch hour rush. Trust me, it was busy, these guys just know what they're doing. While I was checking out, because there was a ton of people, I missed the self check out kiosks for the food court, so I stopped a worker who was in the middle of doing something to ask where I could purchase the food even though it was less then 10 feet away. Being loyal customer comes with disappointment at times. Not once but twice discriminated at this location. Today reached the limit, I took a stand and informed the cashier no, that's not right. By the way, several cashier's were busy helping customers but one cashier was busy chit chatting until I approached to ask them if they are open. Yes! They are open but busy with conversation. Oh, please keep the conversation going while working. No one is stopping you. Learn to be nice to customers. Selections are different in certain Costco's. At this location, I can see more Indian products targeted towards certain demographics. Costco management, please hand your staffs the manual to be nice and friendly. The Folsom location still remains one of our go-to stores when we want to switch it up from the Elk Grove location and find some new items. But their service is still hit or miss here. They also make you put everything on the belt even when I have been standing there waiting for my turn and all barcodes are facing out already. Seems like more work for them to have to unload and reload - he even asked if I could do the unloading. Then the additional lady loading the cart managed to try to squish my cheesecake into a rectangle box that clearly it wouldn't fit into. She was insisting and I actually had to grab it out of her hands because she was quite literally squishing the cheesecake against the packaging!! I mainly went to their gas station area. It's like the many other Costco's that have their gas station. You wait in line with your car. Choose a line. Wait your turn. You need your membership and pay by a credit or debit card. Overall, it's what I expected just like many other Costco gas stations. I had a easy time. However there are a few times when I would try to grab onions or fruits and it would have mold in the bag/container already. I think the fresh produce need to have more regulations or inspections for quality. Also, this Costco does not carry a lot of Asian ethnic food/snack options as the other locations through out California. I would wish they would have more variety of Asian products at this location or other popular new products that other Costcos start selling. read more

In every Costco location that we've been to, everything is the same regarding entry. As an Executive member, you have now access to the store an hour early before the rest of the crowd. This location in Folsom is a bigger one. On this visit, I was so happy to see the organic minced ginger that we've been trying to have for the longest time, so I bought 2 jars. The only thing I didn't like in this location is that the self check out is not equipped with self scanners compared to other locations that I've been to. Love coming to this Costco location. It's extremely close to home and love that they have a gas station. I usually go as soon as they open or at least 2 hours before closing to avoid crowds and it's amazing. I came to the Optical Department at Costco Wholesale with my 84 year old mom to pick out new glasses. This is something my dad always used to do with her. He passed away seven weeks ago, so this meant a lot to both of us. We signed in and were so grateful to be helped by Krystal. She truly is the fairy of glasses. She has an incredible eye and a natural sense of what works. She helped my mom choose frames that fit her face beautifully. The change was immediate. My mom looked brighter and more confident, and you could see how happy she felt. She also found a great pair of sunglasses. Even though it was a busy Sunday, Krystal was kind, patient, professional, and very knowledgeable. She never rushed us and made the whole experience feel personal. I love checking out different Costco locations! We stopped into the Folsom location on the way home from El Dorado Hills yesterday to see if they had anything different and interesting. It was super busy at 3:30pm! I got a bit overwhelmed at one point because I am so used to the layout of my normal Costco, but we did pick up a few items that were new like blue chicken eggs! After spending over $300 during our visit, my son -- who is a minor -- was argued with by an employee simply for trying to use the bathroom. We got out and right back in, simple is enough not to them. The way we were spoken to was disrespectful and biased, as we saw others walked back right in, I still have the shopping cart and receipt. No family should have to deal with that kind of treatment, especially over something as basic as using a restroom. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses how customers are being approached and spoken to. This isn't a store that I usually go to since there are others that are closer to where I live However, it's located close to hwy 50 and they frequently get a variety of whiskies in stock that the other Costco stores do not; hence, my foray most recently. This store has pleasantly surprised me with the selection of alcohols! Great specialty scotch bottles that I can't find anywhere else within an hour . And at a reasonable price, no less. Oh, they excel at keeping the less expensive bottles intended for making cocktails around. Stocking basic bar supplies is something that many Costco stores do well. As far as the typical Costco merchandise and gas, everything is pretty much standard. However, the Customer Service is a bit to be desired. I was standing in line, not too long ago while a business owner was getting a business credit card because the male person who was helping him, was strong arming him to apply right there at the counter. The person was a doctor from what I could hear. The most appalling thing was this person called out this particular members Sical score out loud. The member was a person of color and I don't know if this person who works there was doing it to create an audience so that others could hear or he was doing it to be spiteful. He is an Italian employee whose name starts with the letter A. He works the member service desk, is a very fast talker, and often engages in conversation while members waiting in line for extended periods of time. I could tell that the doctor was a bit upset with how this employee disclosed information relating to his personal and business affairs. He also played it off very well, but his wife seemed to be a little bit taken a back as well. I was totally upset for them because that is disclosing personal information, as he also disclosed the city that they lived in. Prior to them walking up and being helped by him he engaged in a very long conversation with another member. Their conversation was dealing with Doctors, hospitals, medical appointments, and had nothing to do with her membership. He engaged in this unnecessary banter for at least 15 minutes prior to serving the next guest. While Costco price is very at different locations, this one seems to be reasonable on their costing. But that cancels itself out whenever you run into more than one person who lacks appropriate customer care skills. I think the members wife wrote a complementary review for this person supervisor because they did not want to lower themselves to the level of the member service representative. It's very appalling. This review is for the pharmacy inside of this Costco. Today was my first visit to this pharmacy and I will not be back. The woman behind the counter was gruff and rude and acted like I was bothering her. When I couldn't provide my card quickly enough, I was rudely told to get back in line until I was ready. I did as directed, but allowed people behind me to go ahead so I didn't have to deal with her again. The other clerk was pleasant and kind and was able to assist me properly. I guess it's a sign of the times, but COSTCO is not as good as it once was. My husband and I went there yesterday and were so disappointed. The store itself was not clean; the prices and quality of products was terrible. As we checked out, we noticed that they actually had self-checkout areas. We loaded the small items onto the conveyor and were discovered that the clerk would not load any remaining groceries onto the conveyor. He told us that we have to do it because of "management". I have to give a huge shout out to Rebecca in the pharmacy. I planned on picking up a medication tomorrow and it was 5:50pm when I realized the pharmacy is closed on Sundays. With only 10 minutes to spare I rushed to Costco. I got there at 6:01 pm. As I walked towards the pharmacy hoping it might still be open, I saw the lights were out. But, I could see employees still there. I walked up and asked if it was at all possible to pick up my prescription. "Rebecca" looked at me and thankfully helped me. I felt bad because other folks kept coming up behind me to get in line and Rebecca kept having to tell them she was closed as she continued to help me, not a great optic. I've actually been to this Costco to get gas about two years ago, it's right off the freeway! Pretty convenient with a number of gas pumps as well as diesel and regular fuel. I haven't gone inside this particular Costco, but I plan to go back if we go to Tahoe again for a weekend getaway. Costco is built on a hillside and it's very spacious with its parking lot as well as having the gas station towards the back entrance of the facility. read more
