I just drove through Castle Rock for the first time in months, maybe even a year, and WHOA, there's a Dollar General! I have been to the Rainier and Clatskanie locations, and this is only slightly worse. They didn't have their store exclusive Mountain Dew, that I was looking for. Rainier does, at least. Other than that, great stock of items, meaning nothing really seemed to be out. Looked WAY cleaner than anticipated. Also not the busiest, as Dollar General's go. Employees seemed nice enough, too. But they didn't have what I was looking for, so the interaction was minimal. This will probably be an interesting place for Castle Rock people to go, but it really won't be that much more advantageous than a place they've been familiar with for years. But it shows the start of maybe making Castle Rock bigger, and better. Definitely stop by and see if maybe they carry something the other local stores don't have. This location is quiet, even if there's people. That's a hard feat to accomplish. Every employee cares, and they're extremely hard workers. I personally find this location carries the same stock. Maybe just less of it? It's cleaner, and more put together. They care to try. I'm so glad this location is finally on Yelp! This location has been here for so long! Overall, you get top of the line employees, in a never busy location, filled with the same great Dollar Tree stuff you're expecting.

The store is consistently, bright, clean and well organized. They offer fresh produce, meats, cheese, bread and dairy products. Their frozen food cases are well stocked well. Their cleaning supplies and dry goods are plentiful. This particular US Foods CHEF'STORE has wonderfully helpful and friendly employees. You do not need to own a restaurant or be a chef to shop at this fine establishment.

It is only worth fixing on my machine if the rest of the machine is in decent shape. Victor checked it out and found it is worth fixing. But before going to that expense he did all he could to give them a bit more life. I'm sure I will have them replaced relatively soon. He could have encouraged me to buy a new machine instead, which would have benefited the store and cost me much more. He didn't do that. I so appreciate his honesty.

I later returned to the store to purchase fabric and other items. July 29, 2025 I purchased some items including a ruler that cost $42.50 + tax. When I got home I realized I already had the ruler and about 1 week later tried to return it in it's UNOPENED package (I live in the hills so it is about a 30 minute drive to the store so I didn't immediately try to return the item). I was told they do not give cash refunds, only store credit because, quote "some people abused the return policy". This is a violation of Washington State Law but they don't care. I took the following information from Washington's Consumer Protection Agency's site: 1. Disclose the return policy: Retailers must clearly communicate their return policy to customers before they make a purchase. This can be done through signs in the store, information on the receipt, or on the retailer's website. 2. How many days does a customer have to return a product under Washington's consumer protection regulations? Under Washington's consumer protection regulations, a customer has seven business days to return a product for any reason. 9. Minimum Return Policy Disclosures - Retailers must clearly display their store's minimum return policy -- whether it is no refund at all or store credit only -- on all signs and receipts. I have decided to keep the ruler and never do business with them again. Nowhere is it posted in their store about the return policy, it is attached to the receipt which you get AFTER you have paid for the product making it non-returnable. Of course, I doubt that they care if I come back because they already got the big money from me.

I love to look at their air plants and would spend hours at that store. However, today when I parked and looked closely at the sign, I saw GELATO and k LOVE gelato. After picking up an air plant, I walked over to the ice cream section and saw all of their gelato selections! The owner was so kind. He offered to let me sample whichever flavor I wanted to without making me feel obligated to buy anything. After trying out 5 flavors, I decided to go with the lemon pie gelato. It was so yummy. I ate the entire thing in my car before I even started driving home. It was that good! I will definitely be coming back and trying out more flavors in the near future.

The plant store/art gallery was probably my favorite shop, a very eclectic collection of plants, finished art pieces and craft supplies/kits. We browsed in that one for quite awhile! The candy store offered a great selection of chocolate sweets and the gal was super sweet. We also met a wonderful gal at the Battle Crest tasting room with great stories of the distilleries history and the owners passion for spirits. It was a super quiet evening, not many other visitors so we pretty much had the place to ourselves, not sure that's a good thing! Other than the candy shop and distillery, the shop keepers were pretty much checked out, we didn't get greeted, welcomed or even smiled at... that was weird! Maybe when it's bustling they're more inviting and friendly but the night we were there they were definitely not in the mood for customers! It's a great market with an even better location and on a warm sunny day it'd be the perfect place to spend the afternoon.
