The service dogs get into barking matches with other dogs and it's a disturbance to everyone. Not to mention the pee and poop that occurs. Another unfortunate aspect is the behaviors of some customers, it's astonishing how rude and verbally abusive these folks were to the cashiers. I didn't see any support from management when it came to one lady who was upset with a cashier who was hard of hearing. This woman berated the cashier and got so upset over a simple misunderstanding. Disgusting behavior! The overall selection of items is fun to look at, but a lot of items are clearly overpriced and can be found at other stores for less. I'm not paying 3 or more for a dollar tree item. The cashiers are always nice and helpful, but the management needs to support them more, especially when customers are rude. As a customer, I believe we're not always right, especially when one is acting up with an employee. Employees deserve respect and safety, without them a business can suffer and flounder.

This is one of those stores where I feel like half the time there are more employees than customers; I'm not sure if it ever truly gets busy here. There's plenty of parking and the staff seems pretty good about helping folks find what they need. I noted the randomness of the store but just how random are we talking? :: They had samurai swords. Yes, real samurai swords. And so many knives; it's practically a convention of blades. :: A produce section. Small compared to a supermarket, but vast for stores of this size. :: There are so many different tools here that this place may as well be an actual hardware store. :: They have local alumni memorabilia, ranging from OSU footballs to Univ of Oregon apparel. :: A collection of animal themed clocks, frames, and general home decor. A bear lamp or a duck telephone? How about an eagle paperweight or a snakehead letter opener? :: There are children's toys for less than $5 but high end coolers that range in the hundreds. We noticed that Salem had a public market and thought that would be a good way to get some local flavor and a good way to let the time pass up until the museum opened. This public market is not outside but instead inside a small building. Despite the size of the building there are a fair amount of local vendors that are in here. Some I really was impressed with. There was a guy that had us sample some of his homemade beef jerky that was very good, a plant vendor that sculpted air type plants into things making very cute dioramas with them. My favorite was a hand crafted soap vendor and I wound up buying several bars of soap from her. The fragrances were great and she made them very pleasing to the eye as well with fancy waves at one end on a bar of soap with hints of what looked like glitter. Very nice. This public market was unexpectedly fun and was a perfect morning stop to make!

There's no doubt, it's a popular store. (#2) Parking isn't an issue with so many open spaces and it's an easy place to be. Of the few times I've been, I feel this TJ's was solid inventory wise. I found a good amount of clothing for men's and was able to find a gift or two in the kitchen + home decor areas. I also scored a charger for my rental car and almost bit on some of their limited Oregon Ducks gear. No dice on the shoes (#3) but they do have some sizes in the 14-15 range. Service overall seems okay. They're good about letting folks use the restrooms (which were super clean) and keeping the changing rooms tidy.
