I'm not sure about you, but when I see dogs in a store that sells groceries I get a little grossed out. Very strange as every other place seems to refuse dogs save for service ones. The service dogs get into barking matches with other dogs and it's a disturbance to everyone. Not to mention the pee and poop that occurs. Another unfortunate aspect is the behaviors of some customers, it's astonishing how rude and verbally abusive these folks were to the cashiers. I didn't see any support from management when it came to one lady who was upset with a cashier who was hard of hearing. This woman berated the cashier and got so upset over a simple misunderstanding. Disgusting behavior! The overall selection of items is fun to look at, but a lot of items are clearly overpriced and can be found at other stores for less. I'm not paying 3 or more for a dollar tree item. The cashiers are always nice and helpful, but the management needs to support them more, especially when customers are rude. As a customer, I believe we're not always right, especially when one is acting up with an employee. Employees deserve respect and safety, without them a business can suffer and flounder. read more

When it comes to Wheeler Dealer, no day is the same. The store is incredibly random and offers a myriad of things at discounted prices. With only a handful of locations in the Willamette Valley, it is an Oregon local chain that specializes in liquidation from overstocked items that range from generic to brand new. Unlike other discount stores, nothing here is second hand. It's all cheap and new, just the way I like it. (#1) The store is clean, fairly organized, and incredibly low key. This is one of those stores where I feel like half the time there are more employees than customers; I'm not sure if it ever truly gets busy here. There's plenty of parking and the staff seems pretty good about helping folks find what they need. I noted the randomness of the store but just how random are we talking? :: They had samurai swords. Yes, real samurai swords. And so many knives; it's practically a convention of blades. :: A produce section. Small compared to a supermarket, but vast for stores of this size. :: There are so many different tools here that this place may as well be an actual hardware store. :: They have local alumni memorabilia, ranging from OSU footballs to Univ of Oregon apparel. :: A collection of animal themed clocks, frames, and general home decor. A bear lamp or a duck telephone? How about an eagle paperweight or a snakehead letter opener? :: There are children's toys for less than $5 but high end coolers that range in the hundreds. Go figure. :: There is a considerable amount of seasonal decor. Christmas stuff? Check. Easter holidays? Check. Halloween fun? Also check. :: Beyond the produce, there is a decent selection of non-perishable foods here. It's better than dollar store type stuff, but not by much. :: They had a big ol selection of rugs. Not doormats, but actual large rugs that could blanket a room. :: Gardening equipment galore. This might be the largest inventory of the entire store. Frankly, this place is kind of fascinating. Everything was high priced and people were extremely rude! Went out of our way to find this place and we're very disappointed

We have shopped here for several years and put up with rotting produce, unsavory characters and the mentally ill, all in the same of some sweet deals on decent cheap wine. Nothing fancy, just table wine. But now it's over. As we approached the counter with 12 bottles of a favorite cheap red, the guy was having difficulty figuring out the price for the case. It's 40$ and with the case discount, $36. The past, if you buy a case, you get a 10% discount. He called over the person in charge, female sumo wrestler type with ponytail, who told us no case discount on 12 bottle case unless it's SEALED. This was a surprise as every one of these stores has given us a 10% discount on a case of wine, sealed or not. But we were so "lucky", rather than fetch a sealed case from the back, the Big Lady in Charge said she would give us the $4 off. This Time Only. Wow. Way to lose a customer who actually buys your goods rather than lifting with a five finger discount. read more

Wheeler Dealer is probably my next favorite store in Salem. They have so much stuff at discount prices. My husband and I have been there twice and enjoy walking around. They have overstock and limited edition products. They also have a decent sized grocery section as well as hardware. Both times we went in just to look around and left buying a cartload of stuff. read more

This is an interesting store. You never know what you'll find in here. It's fun to just walk through and peruse if you have time. There's always a decent selection of veggies to choose from. This place is a gold mine! I've found many things here that are a smokin' deal! a few of which are: Kevita sparkling pro-biotic beverages - These are $2.89 @ Safeway and i bought them here for .50 cents!!! then they were marked down to 3 for $1!!!!! delicious and SOOO CHEAP!! I've also found many snacks that are: -non GMO -Organic -gluten free -blah blah blah and the prices vary from .50 cents to $1.49 per bag of chips, popcorn, pirates booty, etc. not to mention they have TOOLS!!! I was blown away at their selection of tools! great prices and everything from nice name brands to generic. Also, clothing! good prices on overalls, winter coats, rain jackets, etc.. Everything at this store from fresh produce to the kitchen sink, literally... they sell kitcken sinks...shower heads... i could go on... I would recommend you give yourself an hour or so to just check this place out, it's a wonderland of good deals! read more

What a junk yard. Yet another "bargain" store that isn't a bargain at all. Dented cans of Del Monte green beans for $0.69, single pudding cups that once were in a four-pack, beyond "best before" dated mayos and mustard for prices comparable to Winco and, my personal favorite, Dollar Tree laundry detergent for $1.50!!! Oh, but let's not forget the aisle of hideously tacky animal figures that decorate the front of so many mini-marts. $9.99 for an elk holding a rifle? What a bargain! Seriously people. This stuff is junk and it's not priced well. As someone who would dominate Super Market Sweep, I can assure you that these prices are about the same or higher than what you'll find at Fred Meyer on sale. Thank you Wheeler Dealer I am now eating much more healthy than ever. I have lowered my meat and egg intake greatly. I never really shopped at Wheeler Dealer for real food anyway most of the food available there is processed frozen and junk food and unhealthy snacks which I have cut out of my diet due to cost. I've greatly reduced by need for butter, and dairy products. There is still sales on expired cheese though those prices have doubled as well. It's a shame you don't seem to realize that you will lose a lot of people who have learned some financial discipline during the pandemic like myself. I shudder to think how much food is going to waste!! Wheeler Dealer was always overly expensive for what it is and now it's horrifically so, much more than comparable supermarkets in the area for the exact same brands. In addition your produce is old and tasteless certainly worse than cheaper stores. They used to greatly mark down produce that was starting to spoil now they try to sell it for an expensive price when it's half rotten! This is a great place to go to get random stuff for a great deal...lol..and we love those kind of places. Stop by here, first time being here. One thing I really loved was the attention they had to their parking lot, sounds weird...let me explain. There was a car full of people sitting in the parking lot, they looked really shady. They had thrown a bunch of trash outside of their car, including a flat tire !! Yes, a full size car one !!! They must have noticed them because a couple employees came outside and were keeping an eye on them. As they were starting to drive away, one of the employees said " hey you left all your trash " !! This place is awesome! Where else in Salem can you get cut rate produce, cheap groceries, a tactical vest, lawn chairs and a frickin' samurai sword? Nowhere else. Also a god damn grappling hook. And power tools. I love this place. I just wish the sword case was unlocked so I could try them out. But I can see how that might have liability insurance issues. This place has it all, tools, canned goods, fresh items, tools, yard supplies, paint, etc all at a super discounted rate. Plus they have a huge selection og Oregon Ducks gear too (and Beavers but they don't matter). Anyhow, not too organized but the people who work here are friendly. Wow, the reviews seem to be a love it or hate it situation. Count me in on the "love it" end; as someone who comparison-shops most of the grocery, variety & supermarket stores in central Salem, I keep an up to date spreadsheet on the best prices on many standard items we buy regularly, and WD routinely scores a number of them. No one store is perfect; Winco has a lot of the low prices, but not all. I generally start at WD if I'm looking for a variety of cheeses and for regular meal items like pasta & pasta sauce. Fun crackers, including gluten-free, check. Not usually the best place for canned meat & fish items (ham & tuna). Usually the best butter price, and often eggs as well. Produce quite often - not always everything you want, but I can find most of the ingredients I want for cooking Indian or Mexican food here quickly, easily & cheaply. Pet supply prices vary, but they appear to get a lot of overflow from Salem Pet Supply down the strip mall now, and we've gotten incredible deals on cat supplies in the past year - premium, in-date, grain-free kibble in large bags. Also has rugs, garden & home tools; safety gear & coveralls; paint. We live close & come here first to tick things off DIY & make it for large crowds lists. The staff are wonderful, friendly & know us on a first-name basis now. The one concern I have: a lot of cosmetic & laundry products are from China, Turkey or Mexico, which I won't buy. But you can usually get a lot of name brand shower gels or shampoos as well for discount prices. I recommend checking it out. read more

Lived in Salem since 1970, and this store is NOT a "wheeler-dealer" more like a WHEELER-STEALER. The prices on a few items are lower or the same as the other stores, but for the most part HIGH!! And to top it off, aisles of "locked, behind glass items". No one is going to ask to see or check out, due to the way people are now a days, with the rush, rush, rush, hurry attitudes. And besides the clerks needing to open with the lock on the bottom, good luck. I had an excellent attitude when I came in, but left with thinking what a rip off store. They could lower their prices by at the least 40% and still make a profit, but GREED is what this store is about. $60 for a wheel barrow??? could be $30 and they would sell, and still make money. $15 for a metal rake? could be sold for $9.99 and still make good. They put out a few "sucker bait items" like cantaloupe for .79 cent mainly because they don't have scales to weight their products. Onions 2 for $1.00??? All in all most people will thrive and be thrilled with what this store offers, due to not knowing better, or bothering to shop around. Wheeler Dealer in Woodburn with the previous owners were decent, when the store was on 99 E 10 years ago. This Wheeler/Dealer is like I said: wheeler-stealer, and I am being nice. This was the first time I have walked into a Wheeler Dealer. For the most part I was disappointed. Wheeler Dealer has a ample supply of almost everything. I was able to find a rain jacket that was exactly what I have been looking for in a rain jacket. So that was good. The bad part is I had to pay retail. I wandered throughout the store checking out merchandise and noted that almost everything was retail priced. So don't think that you will get screaming deals in this store. It was a great way to kill 30 minutes for me. This will probably be the last time I walk into a Wheeler Dealer...unless I am extremely bored. read more

If you are "pinching your pennies",this is a great store to shop at. Due to the nature of the business, I was surprised to find that this store is well staffed and the employees are friendly and helpful.It may be a discount store, but the service is not discount.In particular, I shop their produce(the bananas are a killer price,and you can buy a marked down bag of produce for .99.,plus other great deals),their candy and gum,their bottled juices,their coffee,their cereal,their baking mixes,yogurt,costco paper products and canned chicken. I could go on and on. I don't know about the hard goods, I don't shop for those.
