I am so glad you are on Yelp!! My mom and I took the crazy way to Tahoe and we were dying for some coffee!! Stumbled upon this gem of a cafe in this adorable town and the super sweet and beautiful lady made me magical dirty chia drink that was the best coffee drink I ever had!! I wish I could remember her name....she just moved to town with her hubby and son and is loving life! Her suggestion for this magical dirty chia drink (I don't know the name of the magical drink ...LOL) hit the spot!! It was so good!! No...not good...seriously magic to my mouth and tummy!! Warm and delicious on a crisp fall day!! My amazing mom got a pumpkin latte and she inhaled it like a Scarface hitting the pile of powder (insert laughing face)!! This cafe is charming!! So much character in the benches made from the back of pickup trucks and the bathroom floor made of copper shiny stuff....it was spectacular!! I live my mom and the trips we take are special to me. As she gets older I etch these moments on my heart. Out West Cafe made this trip with my mom even more special. I took a quick fall drive over to Markleeville and grabbed some lunch here. They have a cute bar style seating outdoor area out front and there are a few small tables inside. I was pretty surprised how much was on their menu! Quite a variety for a tiny town. I got the lamb gyro which I was so shocked was actually very tasty and I'm picky about these things after having the most amazing gyros in Cyrpress! They have tons of home baked pastry options. But they are known for their cheesecake. I'm not even a cheesecake fan to be honest but I always go with the recommendation from the staff and the lady directed me that they are known for their cheesecakes. Honestly it was so good! I ate the whole thing with my lunch! They also have a wide selection of beverages inside the cafe. Definitely a place I would stop by to eat at again. Also the staff were all friendly! read more

We wandered in here after a day of hiking and hot springs. We got the key lime cheesecake and the toffee cheesecake. They were INCREDIBLE! the second best cheesecake I've ever had in my life. We stayed at the Wylder Resort and went on a discovery tri through this town. Small, quaint town and I ordered the biscuits and gravy- excellent; my honey ordered the smoked salmon bagel. The coffees were also very good, try the dirty chai (I did!) We plan on returning to Hope Valley in the future and when we do, we will return here. We didn't get to try the cheesecake, next time! read more

Drove by the small town and decided to stop for a break. Wasn't hungry hungry, but felt like eating since I'm rarely ever in this area. Got the burrito with gravy, and wow, it looked and tasted pretty fancy. The lady at the front was really nice. Another customer left her purse inside, and she walked out to give it back to her. If I was that customer, I would have left a tip, but anyhow, the lady seemed to be friendly with all customers. This seems like a good business to support..and the food is yummy too. read more

I can't say enough about Out West Cafe/Dollface Cheesecakes! They generously gave us breakfast, on the house, after having a good portion of our property destroyed by the Mottsville Fire, our house nearly demolished. They didn't stop there and gave us delicious soups and pastries to go! Their food is delicious (have always been a fan of the cheesecakes) and portions are large. My 5 year old can vouch for how delicious the Biscuits and Gravy are since he cleaned his entire plate in no time. I will most definitely be recommending this to friends. We hired Out West Cafe for a surprise party for 50 people outside in Markleville, CA. Joey was wonderful to work with in the planning process, even when I had changes. His set up for the buffet table was very presentable and the best part was that the food was AMAZING!!! All of my guests commended on the food and thought it was fantastic. Joey was on time, both in his setup and his dinner schedule. We had the tri-tip, chicken, a vegetarian option, green salad, fruit salad, beans and rolls. Stopped for breakfast and got some French toast and a veggie omelet. French toast was great, made with thick slices of cinnamon raisin and done well. Definitely recommend. The omelet was huge and just as delicious and did not skimp on the veggies. We also got a few slices of cheesecake to go. The raspberry crumble and the grasshopper. We landed here after a long drive from Calaveras Big Trees State Park and had great meatball subs with a wonderful side salad for lunch. Stumbled upon this little cafe on our way back home from Lake Tahoe. We ordered a breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich and a latte. Let me just say that this was the best latte I've had. We also grabbed some muffins (blueberry and poopy seed). Everything was so scrumptious and the food was made very quickly. Stopped by on a whim and have no regrets. The food was very good as well as the service thanks. The bakery you may be as surprised as we were. The many fresh baked items has something for everyone and is extremely delicious. The one complaint I have is that the bakery counter is at the entrance and there no way out unless you pass by the bakery counter again. Its just not fair to tantalize customers like that. It takes a very strong will no to look and once you've looked you're pulled into that bakery counter and your will will be weaken by all those delicious tantalizing and beautiful pastries and pies and cheesecakes, oh my! This is a hidden gem in the Tahoe area. My buddy and I were out driving through and wanted to grab a bite to eat so we stopped by here. The food was way better than we expected. The owner was cool. We chatted for a second when he mentioned that they supply all the hotels and casinos with cheesecake. That was all I needed to hear. I went to the refrigerated section of the bakery area and found 3 different flavors to try. My friends and I ate them and to this day we still talk about how good their cheesecake is. It is probably the most perfect cheesecake I've ever had! If you go to Lake Tahoe you need to make a stop here and get a couple of cheesecakes to go. read more

I have been in a number of times since Out West Cafe opened, and I usually order the macaroni and cheese sandwich. That is something I've never heard of, and would never think of, but OMG is it good. However, today I tried something new - the smothered breakfast burrito. It is by far the best breakfast burrito I have ever had, and I will certainly be getting it again. I am not a fan of country gravy, but I also don't like dry food, so I asked for the gravy on the side...just in case I didn't like it, I didn't want to ruin the chance of eating the burrito. The minute I opened the container of gravy, I could tell it was not your run-of-the-mill country gravy...it was a different color, with a different smell than what I've had at other places. Then I tried it - OMG again! It is so wonderful! I immediately put it on the burrito and have enjoyed every single bite. The pork belly in the burrito is absolutely the best part. If you are looking for a place with outstanding home-cooked food, and a wonderfully funny and charming owner and chef, then this is the place to go. Outstanding. read more

We arrived at the cafe early and was greeted by a very friendly owner who was happy to tell us all about his restaurant and menu. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy while I ordered the Marklee Cristo. The biscuits and gravy was delicious as well as the Marklee Cristo Sandwich. There is a coffee and Tea bar as you enter the Cafe which is convenient. We took home 2 cheesecake slices which are out of this world delicious. They offer several different flavors of cheesecake that can change daily. The only con is the parking is limited. We will return again as often as we can. read more
