Everything was fine until I was told I had to move my tent which had already been set up 2 days, 20 feet to the right because I set it up too close to a cabin. Why didn't this happen earlier? I spoke to the cabin renter and he said he had no problem with the tent there. The RV patrol woman said he did,(BTW he was my cousin...) and he said no such thing... She was adamant about me moving it and wanted a confrontation which I wasn't gonna give her. I pointed out on the map they had given me that I put my tent where it was pictured and she said the map was wrong! I ended up moving my tent and she left angry and never showed her face for the remainder of my stay. She was so rude in front of my family and guests and other RV residents. No one could believe she made such a big deal over the tent location. Needless to say I will never stay here again, if they are gonna make up rules at their convenience! read more

Dolores River RV Park Disappointing. I had been there once several years ago and had a better experience. Since then they are part of RJourney. They should visit the site. Items that were of concern: Their On line site states that they have cable. After spending a significant amount of time trying different cables ( connection was 25 feet away) I talked to the park person in the morning - He said we have not had cable for years - Did not know it is listed on their site The fishing dock is a safety hazard - Was demonstrated when an elderly woman slipped and fell - breaking her hip - interesting lawsuit. . Clearly the access to the dock is a major hazard. The park rather than tape it off. Put up 4 cones to discourage use. The rv sites were weird - Looks like they took a single site widen a little and then put TWO Rv's in the space - left the tree. The site was so narrow - I only had a little space to position - so that the tree had to be positioned between two slides.. Then the sewer hook up was 25 feet away ( 3 drain tubes.) I could have backed up - But then I could not open my slide. RJourney corp needs to fix or close the facility - Disgrace to RV world. Interesting to see what happens from a legal standpoint. read more

Wi-Fi is spotty at times and T-Mobile is 1 bar so not very usable. Check in was quick & curt, the park is under new ownership and is no longer the nice family run place it used to be. No food trucks or potlucks anymore. The pluses are access to the Dolores river, fairly quiet if you are away from the road, it is in a great location and has a large area for walks & river access. The bathrooms remain the finest we've ever seen in any RV park. This was our 4th time visiting but we won't return. We camped at Dolores River RV Resort in a Travel Trailer. read more

This is a quaint off the beaten path RV park and campground. The site they gave us is very tight to get our 34 foot Motorhome in. We have 2 slides and could NOT slide the main slide out all the way because of a pole in the way. The wifi to be quite honest sucks! We have an older tv and so could not get hooked up to their system. The interaction I had with the staff was lacking yet NOT rude. The sites themselves are level although on the small side. The laundry facilities are nice/ clean with equipment in good running order yet expensive. The campground sit on the Colorado river very beautiful! The campgrounds at night is very quiet this I love. Nightly rate was average at a little over 40$ a night. All n all not bad but not the best! This is just my honest opinion read more

We stayed in the river cabin and it was incredible! We could hear the river throughout our stay. Friendly staff. We did have mice droppings on the mattress but it is a primitive camp site. You do need to bring your own sheets/sleeping bag for this cabin. read more

Updating our review from June of 2019...to this recent stay a little later in the season of July 2020. Again, from booking our reservations online, to ease of check in, and our 10 day stay this time...Dolores River Campground delivers a great RV/Tent camping experience. This time we brought our 19 ft. travel trailer, and enjoyed a back in site (#76) and all the amenities (electricity, water, sewer, cable tv hook ups) that RV camping offers. DRC has great campsites, with shade and just enough space so you feel a bit of privacy. Hook ups are well marked and spaced well for each site. The one caveat to our shade...tree sap dripped onto our RV...not a big deal, as it washed off upon returning home...but some other campers behind us in an Airstream seemed quite concerned about the finish of their RV. No big deal...again, it washes right off. The shade is worth it. We love Colorado, and DRC delivers on climate and weather. During our recent July stay we encountered sun, breezy weather, and a wonderful rain squall that blew through and cooled everything off. Again, DRC delivers on wonderfully clean and maintained showers & restrooms. The recently renovated (2010) common areas were amply signed requesting all use masks to respect COVID restrictions. There are also specific food nights with food trucks that come to the campground...we loved the Greek Night with gyros that were freshly prepared and delicious. The common areas at DRC are very nice as well...plenty of play activites for kid-o's, and very dog friendly everywhere with lots of dog waste stations situated through out the campground. Perhaps our favorite feature is the proximity to the Dolores River, and the lounge chairs that are situated along its banks within the DRC. Sitting by the river listening to it's relaxing bauble is just what the doctor ordered in these unprecedented times. One other caveat...bring insect repellent for your campsite, as sitting outside in the twilight hours will subject you to the skeeters. We also brought an Off scented candle for our picnic table...but still a few got through and sampled some O+. No biggie...I'd rather be outside than inside. Finally, don't forget to visit and drop some local $$$ at the DRC's well stocked gift shop. Local honey, t-shirts, hats, stickers...Lainey does a great job of keeping all the fun camping keep sakes on hand...as well as the RV staples of ice and propane. We love the DRC, and all it has to offer. We will definitely be back. read more

Back again! And we could not have had more fun!! This is our second year camping for a full week at DRC. We found this gem last year and couldn't wait to come back. The weather this time of year (August) is unbeatable. This year we stayed in their river front yurts and loved the experience so much. The sound of the river is life giving and refreshing. Kids love fishing and caught several trout. If you are wanting a more secluded camping experience this may not be the place for you. But give it a few days and spend time talking to your neighbors. Everyone is super nice & time there feels nostalgic like a fun family reunion. We love this experience and will be back again! My only suggestion would be to ask the staff to consider adding additional restrooms to the tent site of camp. read more

Very quiet & peaceful campground! We could see other campers, but at night all we could hear from our tent was the river. Also the facilities were very, very clean. HOT WATER!! And it was fun to take a shower outside. We spent a little time fishing in their private pond. We caught 3 bass and (somehow) 2 crayfish! The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. Even weeks before we arrived they were very helpful, and easy to contact for info and advise, to help plan our trip. If I could give it 10 stars I would! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

We've been coming here for years and after the owners sold about a year ago this place has gone downhill. Trash was overflowing for days. Grass wasn't kept up. They messed up reservations for several people in our group. They charged my 82 year old grandpa $400 extra because of a "holiday fee" that did not exist when he made the booking. We called and they referred us to the office manger who was extremely rude and not helpful in the least bit. They also added on the holiday fee of $35 to our campsite every night.. which we were not aware of. Lots of beautiful campground in this area, we will not be coming back to this one. read more

Although we were unable to stay at this beautiful park, I must review their customer service. I made a month reservation and paid up front. Unfortunately, our travel plans to Colorado had to be canceled. Upon learning this, I contacted Monica to tell her of our circumstances. What a wonderful, spacious campground! We usually select public campgrounds because we hate being lined up like sardines in our RV. This private campground is not like that at all. Lots of shady sites, right along the Dolores river, access to premiere mountain biking, hiking and stunningly beautiful scenery. Being from southern AZ, it was wonderful to be here in cooler temperatures as well. read more

Quaint riverside RV Park and cabins next to a river. Bathrooms looked new and clean. However, the RV spaces were small and poorly maintained, the WiFi system was dysfunctional, weird and confusing, and switching WiFi was impossible. The wagons were poorly maintained and had enough bugs in them to scare out an exterminator. Absolutely no warmth in the wagons, even with every heat source on. read more

Super bad wifi. This is not my first stay here, but it will be my last. The facilities are ok, the campground is ok, but the way the front counter lady made the elderly lady with the iPhone feel like it was her fault (when running a few network tests proved it's the campgrounds' setup that is at fault), is not ok. I wasn't able to send email, or get news.google.com to load. It's them against you - no 4g and 1 minute average time between loss of signal on WiFi! Try the Pagosa river campground!!! read more

Fresh, clean, rustic, friendly...this is everything you want and expect from a campground. The gift shop has lots to choose from. Bathrooms are hands down one of the best I have been in and you could smell how clean they were. A nice fresh clean. I only have two suggestions. Even though I didn't have grandkids with me, I thought about how they couldn't reach the sinks in the bathroom by themselves. Another campground I had been to had put some nice kiddie steps in there's. My other suggestion is to please change check out to at least 11:00. This is the only place I have encountered this early time. Other than that it is great. Oh and if you tent camp you get the best spots right by the river. This campground did it right! It is right on the Delores River, and they take full advantage of their location. There are RV spots on a fishing lake, and cabins on the river. We also saw that they had tents and stage coach tents for rent. They also have lots of activities for the kids. We stayed in a cabin on the river. Comfortable, cute and clean with a big deck to sit and watch the river. It had a grass area with a bench and a campfire ring. Our friends had a waterfront RV spot. The RV spots we saw had a lot of room between RVs... room for slide outs, and then some. This place is beautiful and well kept. The owners are proud of this place, and it shows. Beautiful campground along the Dolores river. I highly recommend staying here if traveling to Mesa verde, as it was just a short drive.

PLEASE NOTE: Reviews prior to 2022 are from previous owners. New management at this park is horrid. Lisa wants people to "work" for her but only if they don t work to hard because it makes her and her husband Dan and son Anthony look bad because they spent most of the time sitting up at the office at the picnic table. When we first got hired on. My wife and I took our jobs seriously. We were told if we had any ideas or suggestions or needed anything to do our jobs to let her know. Well that was all fine until we made suggestions and requested items. Lisa got very defensive. My wife had a funny feeling from the get go when Lisa could not tell us any wages or how payments towards site worked. Lisa got very defensive when asked and then was told that we would not start until all the details work worked out. Brad Benge district finally did reach out and answer questions but very vaguely. We needed the jobs so started working. Things were going fine till my wife spoke up about the showers in the bath house being really nasty and I can say the mens shower was even worse. The walls of the showers looked like they hadn't been cleaned at all. They were nasty. People were complaining. My wife went out and bought some shower cleaner on her own and cleaned the ladies room but told Lisa she was not doing the mens as The other cleaners worked together as a team but my wife was made to do it alone. Which leads to Aug 2. My wife was sent to clean the wagons ALONE and she ended up falling and taking a pretty nasty fall. Not once was she offered to be able to go for medical attention. she was asked if she needed an ambulance and she told Lisa no but the knot above her left eye was pretty nasty and she had a black eye for about two weeks. broke her glasses which they did pay to replace but again no mention of seeking medical attention. We were not in a financial position to seek and pay for this as I have been unemployed since covid started and unfortunately my profession is not an easy one to find work in. After the fall Lisa began to treat my wife like crap. Dan chewed my ass for trimming branches off a tree that were interfering with trailers because I was only told to trim the growth at the bottom. so I guess I should not take initiative to go above and beyond. He isn't even management. I worked for Lisa not him. and yes I told Lisa in no uncertain terms that she needed to make it known that I don't work for him and I will not be talked to like that. Even the guest site I was in doing the trimming were made to feel very uncomfortable because this happened right in front of them and they had asked me if I could cut the branches out of the way. I was terminated for threatening Dan which never happened because I said nothing to Dan I went to Lisa his wife who is the manager and spoke with her. My wife was terminated because she didn't like her performance. I guess actually cleaning the bathrooms was not what she wanted. She apparently just wants someone to go thru the motions Like Dave and Sherry do. So now that the bathroom are sparkling they let us go and as far as my wife's s performance. After she fell she wouldn't even let her work. said she couldn't have her in the office because it would one be a distraction because of the way she looked so if she couldn't clean she wouldn't let her work. Yet she was hired for office and to clean occasionally. My wife is still having problem with pain and stabbing pain behind her eye and at the spot of impact on her head. she cant keep her one eye open but have no funds to take her to be looked at. So please pray she is ok. The parked improved while we were there and guest were happy again. well most of them. Guest that knew the previous owners were still complaining about the sites not being mowed. the trailers are in horrid shape but I could only do so. much in the 4 hours she allowed me to work while Her husband Dan and Son Anthony got 8 hours a day and I accomplished more in my four hours then the two of them combined in an entire week of working 8 hour shifts. Then for three days she told us she had no work for us which there is enough work that needs to be done for a crew of men for the next year. Then when I went into work on Fri I was handed my final check and my wife's final check and told to be off the property by 4. All our mail goes to this address and my wife's diabetic meds have been shipped but not received. They will not resend her meds to her so she will be without diabetic meds for three months now. Hopefully she will survive it because the last time she was unable to get meds She got critically ill and ended up hospitalized. We requested to speak to the owners of Rjourney but were told by Brad that he was the highest we would get to. I hate to see this campground fail because it is one of the nicer parks we have stayed in but the cabin and Yurts are in dis repair. the photos shown online are from the previous owners not at all what the park looks like now. read more

This is one of the best RV parks we've been to. It is well maintained, the owners are super friendly and they have a crew of great camp hosts. The sites are also well maintained. It's super pet friendly with a pet walk and plenty of grass. They even have propane onsite to fill your portable or RV tank. read more

We just recently stayed at this park, and absolutely loved it. the showers were spotless, and the Billy and Lainey were great. The WiFi, which is a hotspot I think, did not always work, but everything else made up for it. Pizza Wednesday, Gyro Friday and Ice cream Saturday! Too fun. The management was not responsive prior to our arrival and we were held responsible for damage we did not do. I highly suggest you take pictures of everything possible that they might charge you for later, especially their very worn and dried out chairs outside. They were rickety and we were accused of mistreating them even though we didn't use them because they started falling apart when we sat down. The campground was absolutely beautiful and it was a wonderful trip until the management backhanded us after we left. Definitely will not be returning after being treated the way we were. read more

We stayed here for the month of June 2018 in our class A and generally enjoyed our stay. This is a good location to explore Mesa Verde, it is less than a 30 min. drive. The roads and the parking pads are well packed gravel with mostly grass between sites. Most of the sites are beneath cottonwood trees, great shade but few sites have tv satellite reception if you have a roof mounted dish. Verizon reception was normally one or two bars 1x occasionally some 3g, the park wi/fi was pretty good but we were close to an antenna. Water pressure was useable but low. Our site was across from the activity area (play area of screaming kids), they do claim to be family friendly. The food trucks on Sunday and Wednesday were a nice touch, good food! There was live music 2 nights we were there. The only lodging with a river view were 2 cabins, 2 yurts and 2 conestoga wagons. A few RV sites overlook the 2 ponds. The tent area was a good distance from the RV area. The river flow was very low due to the drought and the ponds produce a lot of mosquitoes in the evening. Would we go back, yes! read more

My wife and I just love the DRC! Billy and Lainey and company are so nice and young and energetic. They have that campground looking awesome and have a lot of cool weekly events/theme nights etc. We stayed in a gorgeous Conestoga wagon. It was huge and so comfortable and is river front glamping at its finest. We love the gift shop and all the suggestions for little day trips they gave us. The grounds are kept in immaculate condition and I've literally never seen cleaner bathrooms. What a nice young family they have. We will tell everyone about this place!! read more

We found this place after 38 inches of Estes Park snow killed our reservations at Mary's Lake. I called here the Tuesday before Memorial Day not really expecting to find something open for 7 days. We had a tent but needed electric. Kathy was very polite and offered a small RV site. Never having stayed at a privately owned campground and booking this over the phone gave me some concern. Those were quickly relieved as we arrived after hours and were still met by the hostess. This place is immaculate and friendly. I have two suggestions. Campfire rings and more heat in shower houses. The thermostat appears to be set at 58. Too cold for showers when nighttime temps are in the 30-40's. I would definitely recommend to anyone coming to this area. It is close to several National Parks and has a lot of local history to explore nearby. read more

Owners and staff are all very nice! Great little store for all your camp/RV needs. Restrooms/laundry are extremely neat, clean, and plentiful. Never had to wait in line for a shower or toilet. Right on the river which is just fabulous to listen to at night. Two very cute fishing ponds as well. We ended up extending our reservation because we loved it here so much! read more

Very beautiful setting. The couple who own are attentive and very involved in the running of the campground. I don't use the bathrooms but the laundry mat is clean and the machines are in good working order and not as expensive as in some parks. Stayed 2 weeks and will be back. Also very good wifi. The campground wasn't full so I can't promise the strength will be great when more people are using but we streamed movies with no problem. read more

Really nice campsite and owners very nice. The park was clean and well kept. We loved all the trees and the river ran along side the park though you couldn't see it from the tent sites. Campsites were pretty close together only downside. Coffee trailer onsite was a nice touch and especially appreciated the clean showers and restroom. We loved this campground. The sites are well maintained and the bathrooms are nicely done (and very clean). The office/store is nicely stocked. Our sewer hose cracked and they had what we needed. There was a community fundraiser for United Way that included fire baked pizzas and games for kids. Great access to the national forest and very nice fishing. Additionally, the WiFi onsite both allowed my husband to work online and was sustainable enough we could stream TV. read more

Camped here one night on our way to ouray Colorado from Phoenix . Our campsite #72, for our 17' camper was perfect. It was right across from the river and a short walk to a walking path along the river. Most people had their dogs with them. The park is clean with plenty of trees/shade. There are cabins right along the river that we'd like to come back and stay in. There is fishing but we didn't have time to fish. We also didn't realize until later that they serve pancakes on Saturday mornings. The only negative was that our cell service/Verizon did not work. Since we were just staying the night it didn't really matter. It was a good break from the world. read more

This is such a beautiful campground and it is run very well. I was there over Independence Day weekend. They had a camp wife pot luck that was lots of fun for everyone to come together. The facilities were all in great shape and very clean and the couple that run place were nice and charming. There is a lot to do and see in the surrounding area. Ill be back for sure! read more
