Scott helped me with the hookups, and even gave me a hose extension to make it easier to hook/unhook from the water connection.

The campground is located right on the Dolores River. Sometimes the river is low, sometimes the river is high...all thanks to Mother Nature. The location is truly perfect. About a half hour into the town of Dolores, maybe a half hour to Trout Lake, minutes to Rico and close enough to take day trips to Telluride and Ouray for exploring. The campground itself is spotless. There are restrooms with showers. The front office has a cute little shop with all the basic necessities as well as soft serve ice cream!!! Saturdays are our favorites as the campground brings in warm homemade cinnamon rolls. I miss it already and I just left this morning. If you must, book early, I mean real early, like a year in advance. That's how special this place is, a slice of heaven that I'd love to keep all for myself!!!

However, this year was our last year camping there. We have several children in our group and because of that our sites were all singled out with the "golf cart nazis" patrolling multiple times a day looking for things to complain about. Most of the complaints were unnecessary but those that had any merit were handled in an unprofessional manner. They even went as far as deconstructing a chipmunk fort that some of the kids had made and piling all the sticks up in the area where we park during a day we were gone. The list goes on but I won't bore you with the details. If you are an old grumpy person this is the campground for you! If you have children, enjoy campfires and visiting with surrounding campers, please look for another place. There are plenty of nice options around the area. We will be taking our business somewhere else from now on. I have given two stars for the location and the care of the campground.

Nice little rv resort to stay at. Just finished a 5 night stay in a cabin…read more The campground itself is nice, there's a pond behind it followed by the river. There's definitely some good shady spots on the campground with the shade which is nice. It has bathrooms and a laundry and a little shop. The cabin itself is nice, although I did have a couple of gripes about it. But first for the nice parts. 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom. It was nice and clean and kept up. Good size kitchen. It's an old stove/oven with electric top so just something to keep in mind. It's rustic looking too. For the negatives I have 2. The MAIN negative for me and the 3 others I stayed with is no A/C at all. I understand it gets cold here in other parts of the year, but when I went, mid July, it's almost 100 degrees outside and it gets really toasty in the cabin, to the point where you're sweating and it's uncomfortable. Just a little window a/c unit would go a long way here. I'd be willing to pay more for the cabin for the a/c unit too. When you're outside in the heat all day, it would be nice to come back to a cabin that has a/c to get some relief. And the other negative is the mattress. Suuuuper springy. Me and my wife laying in the bed and it's springiness had us both rolling into the middle of the bed all night, every night. And the couch mattress is all springs too. Besides that everything is good, just beware of all the mosquitoes that are here, there's a ton so bring bug spray!

I wish these 'extra' fees were transparently disclosed upfront rather than buried in the fine print.

Because we had booked so late, for our four night stay, we were in three different spots 70, 58 and 60. All were very good, but 70-72 are the best with wider spots. Definitely worth the extra cost. We were contacted by email and text as we got closer to our trip, giving us general check in instructions and what to expect, which I appreciated. We arrived after the office closed, but check in was easy with a packet waiting for us just outside the office. This park is well maintained with beautiful scenery and is surprisingly quiet. There were several campsites with dogs, but the owners were good about keeping them quiet. My husband and I walked the park when it cooled down in the evenings and everyone was friendly and welcoming. We even made some new friends who we hope will cross paths with in the future. There is a general store within walking distance stocked with basic non perishable items. The highlight of our stay here was our prime rib dinner at the Ouray Cafe and Restaurant located on the edge of the park. It's a must stop if you're here! We didn't go to the hot spring, but it's a close walk from the park, as is downtown Ouray. This was a great first trip for us and we'll be returning!
