Owners seemed really friendly at first but I was told to stop using "their bandwidth" when they have multiple guest networks and private networks (which are presumably for the owners!) When we arrived we were pleased with the price but after interacting for a day (most of which we were gone for anyway) decided not to stay longer. The public areas inside all smell of cigarettes and if you want to use the lounge provided (which is still generous of the owners, though soaked in cigarette stink) you'll have to endure the sounds of their four dogs barking and them yelling upstairs.

Why didn't this happen earlier? I spoke to the cabin renter and he said he had no problem with the tent there. The RV patrol woman said he did,(BTW he was my cousin...) and he said no such thing... She was adamant about me moving it and wanted a confrontation which I wasn't gonna give her. I pointed out on the map they had given me that I put my tent where it was pictured and she said the map was wrong! I ended up moving my tent and she left angry and never showed her face for the remainder of my stay. She was so rude in front of my family and guests and other RV residents. No one could believe she made such a big deal over the tent location. Needless to say I will never stay here again, if they are gonna make up rules at their convenience!

The spot was nice and had plenty of room, the only downside was that the sewer hook up was elevated and near the middle of the site so I had to pull up when leaving to get to it. Since it was elevated I had to use orange blocks and the sewer track to get things working. The rest of the site was nice and the restrooms and showers were clean and worked great. Unfortunately we had to drive down to Santa Fe so we missed the burro fest in downtown the day we checked out, it looked like a load of fun.

Staff were friendly (the ones I interacted with). Dumpsters were a bit of a hike. I did like there was a board with open sites. I did not like that I went to check out as I didn't prepay and someone was in the office but the doors were locked. I was trying to leave, not sit around and wait. Most places open at 8am and I was at the office at 845am but I guess they open at 9.

The only issue was leveling side to side as the Park has a slight downward slope so we had to use all of our leveling blocks as it was higher than our Andersons could reach, but that was the only issue everything else was great. Would definitely stay here again. Also very reasonable.

What makes outback RV so great is that it's small, quiet, and off the beaten path. Bill, the owner is a Great host and a really genuine person. There are some mountain biking trails and hiking trails less than a quarter mile away, and Cortez is a short drive down the road. They are you'll find hardware stores grocery stores pet stores and pretty much anything you'll need. Also Mesa Verde national Park is a short drive as well. If you're looking for a quiet, clean, basic RV Park with great views of the stars and great people come check out outback RV.

With all the years that I have been enjoying the outdoors, I have come to the realization that…read morethere are essentially two types of camping - staying in a place of natural beauty unto itself, to enjoy the location where you set up your tent or parked your trailer - staying in a location that is a place to set up your tent or park your trailer, as a base of operations from which to travel to nearby natural beauty or wonder. Ancient Cedars RV park probably falls into the second category, although it offers amenities and features that are superior to lots of other RV parks, KOAs, and the like. For one thing, just about every site has a beautiful view of Mesa Verde National Park's celebrated geography... as a matter of fact, you really can't get much closer to the park without camping inside of it. One minute drive from Ancient Cedars and you're in the park! Despite being pretty close to our neighbors, our site had full hook ups, shade from a well-placed tree, a picnic table, and enough room to set up our trailer and park our truck. Easy pull through sites for all sized trailers and campers. Larger sites for humongous rolling houses and such did not have trees, but those would just get in your way, right? The front desk staff was extremely kind and friendly, the price was not astronomical, and we were not packed in like sardines, as we have been at a few other private RV park locations. The swimming pool, hot tub, and 18 hole miniature golf course were all enjoyed by the kids, as well as the game room with foosball, a billiards table, and a few other things. The front office area has a small mini mart for those essentials you forgot, and code entry restrooms and showers. The park is next to a horse property, and at night, the friendly horses come over to the fence to the delight of kids and grown ups alike. I also thought it was thoughtful that one of the rules is all external lights on campers need to be turned off at night, so visitors can enjoy the dark sky and view of the stars. At least, when the monsoon clouds aren't blocking the view. Overall, this was a great last stop on our month-long cross country road trip. Worth checking out, and hope to visit again.
