What a great place. We popped in a lunch. It was busy and full of happy people, which is a great sign. We got the last table and placed our order. I know the owners here. This isn't a brag, I believe about half of the people (perhaps a severe underestimation) walk out either having a conversation with Paul and Pam, or just having their spirits lifted. Dolsie's Lunch Box Grille feels like a spot suspended in time. When you enter, you leave the downtown streets behind you. You can read the daily specials written in chalk on a pillar, conveniently placed near where the line forms (but mind you, it's never in the way). On your way to place your order you pass the display case full of Pam's exquisite cupcakes; I highly suggest trying one, but be careful! They have two wrappers you have to take off (I told Pam that more than once I've forgotten to fully remove both and ended up with the paper in my mouth, we both just started laughing). If you come in often enough, just know you will be remembered. Paul and Pam showcase a deep concern and care for their community that, to those unused to such kindness, may seem invasive. But this is not some fastfood chain that only cares about your dollars. This is a living, breathing restaurant that cares about you and wants your experience to be idyllic. There is always a coffeehouse playlist in the background; soft enough to talk over, audible enough to go "hey, I know this song!" I could go on all day about this spot, but I want to end on my favorite part. Paul makes these potato discs called Olie's and he serves them with a cheese sauce. It is the best part of every meal, for me. And that is saying something because every meal I've had here is, by itself, satisfying and delightful. I gave Dolsie's another chance last Friday, and am so glad I did. On Friday, I ordered their fish tacos along with the chicken wild rice soup. Both were excellent. The fish tacos, however, were superb. The fish had been fried so perfectly that they had this genuine crispness that gave way to the fish meat. Because the fish didn't have a fishy flavor, it took on the flavor of the ingredients, bringing forth the onion and tomato and the spicy chipotle-mayo like sauce that they were served with. They were delicious! The wild rice soup was hearty, and a great complement to the meal. The mayor was having lunch here Friday. If he's eating here, it has to be good. My sister was continually talking about this place and how she goes to visit every time she's visiting the state. I finally got to go with her and now I see what all the fuss was about! This place is delicious! The burger was yummy, the pastrami in it just perfect! The cheeseburger soup was yummy, the daily specials are creative and delicious. And don't even get me started on the cupcakes. Homemade, great assortment of flavors, moist, delicious!!! The service was friendly too, which makes it even better. You know that good feeling you get from going to a really great local Mom and Pop shop? Well, you'll feel the love and much more at Dulcies. It's like your coming home from a long day's work. The owners make you feel extremely welcome and important. In fact your made to feel so comfortable that you might just feel like sittin' a spell. Yeah, I'm not local as you can probably tell, and their MN nice went a long way with my husband and me. We truly enjoyed every moment of it actually. The food was superb, the setup was very nice, and the owners were great! And the cupcakes....oh the cupcakes came straight down from heaven and were absolutely amazing! What a perfect finish to this already wonderful birthday lunch out. As a quick side note...I absolutely loved that they commemorated days long past by displaying old black and white photos of classic West Saint Germain Street on the far right side of the eatery! Make sure you take a moment to soak up all that beautiful history in prior to leaving! This place is a legit 5 star. Strami sandwich was great 9/10. Partners beef and cheez whiz was also great 8/10. Food was really good. The real reason for the 5 star was the cupcakes. Shared a lemon and a triple peanut butter something cupcake. They are the best I can remember having in a long long time. Both 10/10. Both of them had moist not too sweet cake with a great filling and super good frosting. Im not saying that there isnt a better cupcake in Minnesota, just surprising that one of the best is at this sandwich stop. Owner guy was awesome as well. He noticed we were not regulars and were studying the menu. He asked if we had been here before. Told him we were from out of town and he asked how we found him. Told him Yelp. Best restaurant in St. Cloud. "This is the best Club sandwich I've ever had" said my dining mate. The Chicken Philly was delicious. The Onion Rings are perfect-crispy, hot, NOT greasy. Picked up my brother for lunch a while back and didn't know where to eat. Yelp! Lead us to this place. I think we were the first customers of that day. I ordered the Cheesesteak sandwich and a side of onion rings. The sandwich came out looking like a french dip. My first bite into it was AMAZING! Probably one of the best hour sandwiches I had in a very long time. The flavors was all there, the meat was moist and not dried out. The Onion rings was ok, not bad. The gal who took our order was very nice and the cook(owner) was also very nice. He saw us taking pictures and said does his food look that good? Yes it does boss man! But tastes better! Price listed on Yelp shows just one $ but I definitely think it should be more. Probably closer to $$ or $$$. A kids meal with a grilled cheese sandwich and some Olie's (round fries) is $8. A 1/4 burger is $7 for the burger only. They don't have cups for water but do sell bottled water for $1 a piece. The food was good but I felt that the portion sizes were a little small considering the price. Especially since you order at the counter, pick your food up at the counter, and bus your own table. My boyfriend and I paid Dolsie's another visit today for a lunch date. It had been far too long since the last time we were there, and we kept trying to find a day that would work for us to stop in for lunch. I truly wish they had longer hours, but we made it work! I love visiting on Saturdays when parking is free, but there was no special, so that was a bummer. We came in around 11:45am and that was the perfect time to stop in. We were both lucky enough to come in before the rush that happened a little after the noon hour. All of a sudden, the place was packed! We skipped the line and got our order in in the knick of time. My boyfriend ordered the Strami sandwich and I got the Canadian Walleye sandwich, so we both opted for hot sandwiches. We got olies with that as well. My boyfriend expressed that he liked the Strami sandwich more than the Strami burger, but that it all depends on what you're in the mood for. His sandwich was drizzled with a ton of cheese and it looked fantastic. The walleye on my sandwich was fried to pure perfection. The beer batter was light, crisp, and golden. I could not get over how amazing it looked/tasted. The part I was disappointed about was the bread and lettuce. The tomato was pretty fresh, but the lettuce seemed like it was old. There was a lot of it too, so I only ended up eating about half of the lettuce (it ends up just sliding off of the sandwich). The bread was cold and could've been crispier to me, but my boyfriend said he liked it, so maybe it was just a personal preference. The walleye does not exactly fit the sub, so I would suggest separating the top and bottom of the bread, so that the walleye stays in the middle. Otherwise, it'll fall right off (I ate the sandwich as an open face sandwich initially and then decided to just tear the top and bottom of the bun apart which worked a lot better). The tartar sauce was okay, but it went well with the walleye. I would suggest spreading it onto the sandwich as opposed to dipping it. Needless to say, the olies were great. I love how they're different than other fries I've had before. Their round shape and ridges seem to make them taste better, I swear! Service was flawless as always, and the place was hoppin'. Although I had some critiques on my sandwich, I still love Dolsie's nonetheless! Can't wait to try more of the menu in the future! read more

I come from a very multicultural place being Vancouver, Canada where I have tasted and tried all sorts of various foods, meals, and dishes. I simply love food, all kinds of it... and I can honestly say this is tremendous eating. Always fresh, hot, and portioned just right. It is a very clean environment with a friendly, open kitchen concept, and the owners and cooks will make you feel at home. I usually get the Philly with Olie's (so so good) but I have also tried other dishes that Paul cooks up, and his food, every single dish, is absolutely top-notch. This place has a perfect lunch atmosphere, but it's not why you'll come back, i promise it's the food for me. Also definitely get a cupcake. If you grew up in St. Cloud you remember the original Dong Khanh location. That place was a bumping institution of my childhood filled with cream cheese puffs, egg rolls, orangina soda, and all of the other exotic flavors of the orient. (Hey, I was a Scandanavian product of Central Minnesota) Anyway...my childhood glimpse into a land far away is now filled with a casual diner called Dolsie's. You order at the counter and they call you up when it's ready. The menu is hot/cold sandwhiches, salads, and other fried fare. There is a little bakery case with cupcakes and sweets. I wasn't impressed by my food but I can only judge based on my shared sandwich. This was my Mom's second time here and she said that her first experience wasn't culinarily impressive either. We received a hello, goodbye, and thank you from the guy behind the line. We felt appreciated. If you work downtown this would be an inexpensive and quick lunch option, but I'd be hard pressed to recommend it for any other purpose. read more
