We were initially referred to Domestic Kitchens by a local real estate agent as a small local business that made the cabinets locally. We hired them as part of a kitchen remodel to design and install cabinetry. Unfortunately the quality of the cabinets was very poor, uneven, warping and there were a number of design mistakes that we had to use other contractors to rectify. When we addressed these disappointing issues with the owner of Domestic Kitchens, he immediately threatened a lawsuit and demanded full payment instead of fixing the mistakes. BEWARE! there's nothing better then the feeling of a family run business! the went above and beyond to tend to the needs of our design concept, evening making it more upscale and adding custom paint as complimentary! the process is a little overwhelming , but the owner Frank was in constant comment with his personal cellphone and reminded how thrilled I would be when it was installed . Wow! he was so right I'm in love with my kitchen , I'm always entertaining . Do not use this company! They will turn your project upside down. They blew right past the several scheduled installation dates with no excuse or apology. The cabinets arrived over a period of days, not one delivery as promised. When the installers showed up they did not speak or look you in the eye. They ignored you and avoided eye contact. They were scowl-faced and angry as if they hated their jobs. They had this "us against them" attitude as if the paying customer was the enemy. They held the cabinets by one hand and swung them carelessly through the air around the kitchen smashing them into each other. The room was filled with a very strong odor of paint and varnish. We looked at the cabinets and noticed they were still wet! We thought we heard the distinct sound of aerosol cans being sprayed and looked outside in the driveway and they were actually applying the finish minutes before they dragged them into our kitchen. The finishes were wet and still drying. They were dull in some areas and high gloss in others and some even had gloopy dripping dried varnish on them. Some cabinets had saw dust permanently embedded in the varnish. Almost every single cabinet had a dent, scratch or gouge. They continued their assault on our home by forcefully shoving, twisting and banging the cabinets into place. They were crooked and uneven with various gaps large and small everywhere you looked. The hinges they used were cheap and worked randomly from slamming loudly shut or not closing at all. A few days later the doors and drawers started warping and sticking and not fully closing. You had to use two hands to open some of them. Our kitchen was never the same again. We tried calling them but they all disappeared and never returned our calls. After devoting countless hours and excruciating effort we got them to come back. They set up a shop on our outside deck where they took doors and drawers on a folding table and filled gouges with the wrong color filler and sanded the panels with an irregular uneven pattern. Then they took out their famous aerosol cans and started spraying away. When they reinstalled all the doors and drawers, everything was basically the same terrible, awful installation. Our kitchen looked like it had a hard life. It looked old and used. It looked the before picture in a renovation ad. When I told the owner, Eric Glasband, I was not satisfied he actually replied "some people are never happy". read more

Domestic Kitchens proved to be the biggest mistake of our home renovation. We gave them a lot of business, and ended up extremely disappointed with the quality of their work. Despite the promise of touch-ups visits, they did not fix all of the numerous mistakes and imperfections in their delivered product. Go with any other custom cabinet makers. From our experience remodeling our kitchen, utility room, and bathrooms, Domestic Kitchens attracts you with competitive pricing and a nice showroom, but delivers a disappointing product characterized by poor craftsmanship and numerous imperfections that cannot be fixed with "touch up" visits from the installers. These very apparent and numerous imperfections include the following: scratches and dents on the painted over wood; squeaky doors and drawers; cabinet doors that don't shut evenly because their wood is warped; misalignment of doors and drawers relative to surrounding cabinetry; crown molding that has begun to separate from the ceiling; dents along cabinet edges; insufficient sanding and inconsistent shaping of more ornate or complex areas of our chosen cabinetry design. I can go on and on. It felt like they banged out our design without attention to detail or regard for the finished product. Friends of ours redid their kitchen with a different company; one that did not do everything housed in the same facility (which was a selling point for domestic kitchen), and their kitchen came out flawless. One of our carpenters/workers renovating our home has since built us better custom shelves and cabinetry than what we received from Domestic Kitchen. An artist friend ours who works extensively with wood was surprised by the overall unevenness in quality and glaring flaws. From what was delivered and installed, there just seems to be a general lack of care for attention to detail and the accumulation imperfections during the crafting process at Domestic Kitchens. Furthermore, certain design elements we had asked for were missing from the finished product, like foot pocket space underneath our island. We have not heard back from Domestic Kitchen. read more

I hired Domestic Kitchens to build my kichen cabinets, bathroom cabinets and install my kitchen appliances. They did a good job building the cabinets. Dealing with the owner was a nightmare. One example: They installed my Dishwashers improperly which resulted in water leaking all over my floor and refused to stand behind their service. I spent over $60,000 and they would not stand behind their service for a $1500 mistake. The employees are frightened of the owner Pat and will not stand up to him even when he is clearly wrong. Beware! Huge lack of integrity should be a warning to all considering using this mom & pop company. Two thumbs down :( Check the Better Business Bureau BBB for their rating. read more

Family owned company with personal touch- "Greenwich" type cabinets at far less cost. Nina with sit side by side with you to design a functional, beautiful kitchen. She offers high end storage solutions and beautiful hardware. I showed her a bathroom vanity from a designer- she had the shop copy it and it is gorgeous! The installers, especially ' Hajro" are on time, polite, and clean up after. We now have a new generation of our family choosing Domestic Kitchens. read more
