The Short Version: Local microbrewery that brews beer and also makes flavoured seltzer under the name City Seltzer. A few creative beer flavours. The Long Version: I'm not much of a beer drinker, although my husband is. Luckily this microbrewery not only makes beer but they also make seltzer, and I love seltzer! Lol. Their seltzer flavours are limited, so I've tried most of them. I've tried the Berry Whip, Cool Melon and Orange Cream. They occasionally have limited edition flavours and I recently tried the Tiger Fruit one (kiwi and mixed berries). I find that most of their core seltzer flavours are pretty ordinary and not as creative as their beer flavours. Like they have an Earl Grey Marmalade beer and they had a chocolate chip pecan cookie-flavoured beer. I wish they had more creative seltzer flavours. I would totally drink an Earl Grey Marmalade seltzer! Lol. Ironically, my husband does not like what he calls "weird" beer flavours, so he wasn't crazy about the ones my brother gave him for his birthday, lol, but he likes the more "normal" flavours. Oh, I recently tried their newest flavour, Grape Jelly, and this is my favourite flavour so far. The brewery is in an industrial park. They have seating and have a limited food menu, mostly snacks. They have a corner where you can buy cans to-go. Their beers are also available to purchase at the LCBO and their seltzers are available at several retailers like some coffee shops (such as Equator Coffee) and some grocery stores (such as Natural Food Pantry). Tip: City Seltzer is yummy and sugar-free. My review is about the seltzer part of Dominion City Brewing. Its City Seltzer line is awesome. I grew up drinking Original New York Seltzer. The seltzer came in short glass bottles with a colourful label, depending on the flavour that you got. I don't know what happened, but this company died and somehow resurrected itself. I don't see this brand often in my area. In July 2024, I was in Winnipeg at a Giant Tiger. It featured a limited tiger tail flavour in the company's City Seltzer line. Proceeds went to Food Banks Canada. It also had berry whip and city citrus varieties. I bought a can of each flavour. I loved them all. Tiger tail had orange, vanilla, and anise flavours. They worked well. It was my first time having anise in a seltzer. It's too bad that it's no longer available. I'd get it again. The berry whip and citrus seltzers were yummy. The fruit and citrus flavours were nice. They weren't in-your-face strong. They were refreshing and perfect. I was in Steinbach and Winnipeg this past summer. Sadly, no tiger tail or any City Seltzer were available at the Giant Tiger locations that I had visited in either city. A few months ago, I was shopping at my local Whole Foods Market. I stumbled across a City Seltzer display. What?! I saw two flavours that I had never seen before: orange cream and cool melon. I grabbed the former to try. I love anything that tastes like an orange creamsicle. This one was so good. I keep dreaming about it. Whole Foods sells City Seltzers in individual cans and a case. I like trying out the former first before I commit to the latter. At this rate, I'd get a case of each flavour available. I still need to try the cool melon. I'm hoping that it makes me feel like I'm at a spa when I drink it. My friend, Jennifer, let me know that this company is in Ottawa. The beer is expensive, but I think that atmosphere is great. The staff are very friendly and remember a lot of that individuals I come in as regulars. It is right near a lot of easily to bike places so great spot to stop for a drink. They even have a bike rack outside to make it all the more accessible. There is lots of outdoor seating, which is a great thing if you want a patio experience without all the busy crowds. read more

I first discovered these flavoured seltzer's at a local bagel shop. I was hooked after 1 sip. So refreshing, bubbly and has subtle fruity/citrusy flavours. Love that it is an Ottawa based company, brewed, labeled and filled here in Ottawa!! Can't get more local than that. I purchase mine at local retailers (restaurants, cafes, independent grocery store). I usually buy the cases of 4 at Independent for $6 My favourite flavours are: BERRY WHIP, ORANGE CREAM & CITY CITRUS. Their motto is 'All bubbles, no troubles.' Highly recommend! Great brewery nestled among an industrial complex. They have a cute beer garden with a bunch of tables surrounded by vegetables they grow and donate to a local food bank. They have a store with merch and to-go beer. And they have their beer window where you can get a bunch of their beers and seltzers, plus some from other breweries. The staff were all super nice and the beer was super tasty with some of the best IPAs I've had in Ottawa! read more

Coming here was super fun! I came after work, and found it super cozy and relaxing. The place itself is right beside a soccor field, so there's a ton of parents having a beer after practice (not many younger people compared to downtown). I tried a beer flight, and even got 2 extra samples to try, as the server recommended them to me. Prices are reasonable, and they do tours on Sundays! They also come out with unique flavours, so I'll probably have to go back and check. Only thing is that there isn't too much seating if all the parents come by after a game, so I was left standing at the very long bar, but otherwise, still fun to try out some new beers! read more

Ok, I am not a beer girl, but I actually liked 5 out of the 6 beers I tried. Even the dark ones and the ones with higher alcohol content. That is a first for me. Their european inspired blends is a nice touch and a breath of fresh air. I was getting tired of the overly hoppy flavoured local beers and was looking for something I can enjoy while supporting local. I loved their blond, IPA and even a dark one called "Le Hibou" that's a small batch specialty beer. The staff was awesome, so friendly and patient. They love their job! The passion is palpable. They are happy to serve you a decent taste tester and go through the effort of explaining it all. We bought $75 worth of beer! Just so you know, it's a $4 deposit on each growler bottle ($24 of our order was only deposits!). But you get that back, unless it's gift, right? They will also accept all other growlers from other local breweries, so that's pretty cool too ;) The location is sort of buried in an industrial zone on the way to Orleans. Construction is underway next door to expand the brewery so they can make more beer and provide more seating to enjoy a flight and some local food. We first came by Dominion City when we went out to "ton" restaurant. Our waiter recommended the "Sunsplit IPA". Hands down the best beer I have ever had! Went out to the brewery to buy some yesterday and of course it's very popular and sold out! Will have to buy a lot of it when they have more so this doesn't happen again. Try it when you have the first possible opportunity. Picked up som "marmalade early grey" in the meantime. It is delicious too! read more

Awesome spot. Nice beer. Try some popcorn with your flight, it was delicious! The metal seats and their tasting area can get really cold in the winter while people open the front door continually. Beware! Keep your coat on. Nice atmosphere though, decent amount of parking too. read more

I missed the Kickstarter buzz that brought Dominion City in to existence, but I began to see their maple leaf logo popping up on taps around town (Clover on Bank, the Wellington, among others). Like many microbreweries, Dominion City Brewing is in a light-industrial neighbourhood; there are still a number of ways to get out to the brewery. Once you arrive, you'll find a modest tasting room with a long bar. Working the bar is Sam, a fantastic ambassador of hops who will enthusiastically talk you through the many offerings at the brewery. Dominion City is young and adventurous so there's always a nice mix of old standards (a summery blonde, Town & Country stands out for me) and more quirky specials. You can taste everything--and you should!--and you can also bring home a full growler or a smaller grumbler (more like 2 glasses). Less well advertised, you can have a 12 ounce glass on site at the brewery. Ontario liquor laws prevent Dominion City from selling pints on site, but don't let that stop you from enjoying a slightly smaller serving on site. And of course, there's lots of swag on site--shirts, hoodies, glassware. They've cultivated a very minimal chic brand with a light dose of Canadian kitsch and there's plenty of fun branded stuff on offer at the brewery too, making the trip a must for fans and fans-to-be alike. read more

This is probably my favourite micro brewery in Ottawa. Each brewery usually has 1-2 beer I really enjoy but Dominion City has many of my favourites. They also have a very interesting range of styles. read more

Excellent beer, excellent service, excellent overall! I was completely floored by Dominion city. We tasted a number of their beers including a seasonal pumpkin spice where the pumpkin clearly does not dominate the beer allowing it to be a beer that could stand on it's own. Very impressed! My favourite of all the beer we tasted here was the two flags ipa. It just seemed so balanced with the right amount of hoppy! The owner seemed like a cool guy. Sales staff seemed very professional. A huge fan! My first recommend if you are an outsider visiting Ottawa craft beer breweries. They don't serve food here, but if it's just beer you want to take back this is an excellent choice. read more

I visited the brewery a few weeks ago after having their Town and Country brew at the Crust and Crate at Lansdowne. That beer was good enough for me to want to try more. I purchased a few of their other types, and just finished a can of Devil in the Details. Such a tasty strong ale.. Very yummy. The kitchen at the brewery could crank things up a bit beyond just light snacks, but you just can't beat the amazing beer. I will be back to buy more in the future! read more
