Stopped in here on a wednesday with some friends that live in the area. We were seated right away…read moreand they had a decent crowd but not packed. They had a special for a smash burger and fries for $10 bucks that looked good but what caught my eye was the beef sandwiches. I ended up ordering the Blue Cheese Beef which consisted of shredded beef topped with melted blue cheese, bacon and tomatoes. One of my friends ordered the smash burger deal and my wife ordered the Cheesy Spinach flatbreads. We were also there early enough for the happy hour drink specials and ordered some draft beer. Our first drinks came pretty quickly and the food wasn't too far behind. My beef sandwich came with an au jus sauce and a side of tater tots. This sandwich was amazing and I will probably order it again the next time we are there. The beef was tender and flavorful and the blue cheese with bacon stepped up the flavors. My wife really enjoyed her flatbread as it had the perfect amount of cheese and crispy crust. My friend liked her smash burger as well which looked like a generous size for the special. The only thing that could have been improved is for our waitress to check on us more frequently. Our drinks had run dry and we were almost done eating before she came back. Besides that, the food was great and I recommend you to stop in here for one of their daily specials or get yourself a beef sandwich.

Our waitress made some suggestions when asked and came back often to check on us and provide drink refills. The food was pretty typical for a bar, but the portions were large and well prepared. We would definitely eat here again

Ordered through DoorDash. 2.5 Food was ok. Nothing…read morespecial, not one dish made me say "yum". 2 out of 5 dishes were okay. Pad kra pao was good and of course chicken satay- no one should eff that simple dish up. Lol The green curry chicken was really disappointing. The desserts were good though, I enjoyed the custard the most. All in all it was an ok experience, not worth the money.

It has been 12 years since my last visit to Bangkok Cafe. 12 years! And not because the food isn't…read moregreat, because it is! It's just that dang location. Even if I described to you exactly where it is, you wouldn't be able to place it. It's just completely out of the way, and even if you lived close by, it's so unassumingly dimly lit, that it just looks closed. So much so, that our first visit after a 12-year break, almost had us driving off. While the 'OPEN' sign was on, the dining room was completely empty at 7 p.m. on a Saturday. But thankfully as we sat in the car looking at the hours on our phone, the young man who does double duty as the adjacent store clerk, as well as waiter popped out to let us know it was safe to come in. The food is unassuming, totally homemade in the best and worst way possible, and everything is very specific to this family. The flavor profiles of ALL dishes are perfectly balanced, and while some meats are severely overcooked, that's probably for the best. Will it take us 12 years to return? Likely not, as popping in last night has put it back on our radar. But even still, due to the totally bizarre location, it's going to take some effort to make it back. But we will if for no other reason, to grab another bowl of that absolutely divine tom yum soup.

4 to 5 stars for the "Ostrich!"…read more Bottom line: This is a fun place with really good food. FOOD: We had 6 different taco plates and small plates. Only the pork belly tacos were sub par (the pork belly was over done - dry and tough). The seasoning on EVERYTHING (including, I might add, the pork belly tacos) was really great. The tamale bites and dipping sauce were my personal favorite. Not sure I wanna know the nutritional information for that one, but the dish was outstanding. My wife got both the raw oysters and baked oysters...whatever...she loved both. SERVICE: Stephanie did a great job of getting our order right, and keeping the food coming. She made excellent suggestions; important because we didn't know the menu. ATMOSPHERE: Fun and loud. It's a little too loud to have an intimate conversation, and it doesn't have the same amount of personality as a similar place, Deseo (in Cricket West), but it's fun, clean, and new. DRINKS: If you're drinkin', Avestruz is serving some pretty good cocktails. I'd give this category to Deseo, as well however. Overall, Avestrutz is a great addition to this part of town. For upscale Mexican, I'd give the nod to Deseo, BUT, we will come back here...plenty. 5 stars, for now.

With the sheer number of dining options in Toledo, we almost never hit the same spot twice in one…read moremonth--so the fact that we showed up at Avestruz twice in one week? That's saying something. Now, let's talk about "Ostrich Towne"--yes, that's what it's called. The branding is... let's go with "mysterious," and from the outside, it's hard to tell there's something amazing happening in there. But oh, there is. If you wait too long to try Avestruz, you're going to kick yourself when it blows up and the lines wrap around the parking lot. We found out about it through friends who were basically raving about how often they've been going--like, suspiciously often. And on our first visit, a packed Friday night with a line out the door, I got it. I was already late to the party. But then we went back that Wednesday, snagged a seat fast, got our food even faster, and realized: we've still got time to squeeze in a few more visits before patio season hits and Ostrich Towne goes full unhinged. Inside, Avestruz is spotless, modern, and way more stylish than you'd expect from a place parked in a development named after a large flightless bird. The menu? Wildly creative but laser-focused in flavor. The Caesar salad (yes, really) might be the best in Toledo. The tacos? Incredible. Oysters? A dream. Queso and chorizo dip? Say goodbye to self-control. It's all dialed in. The staff is genuinely hyped to be there, and the family behind the kitchen clearly knows what they're doing. Plus, the whole thing is part of this surprising revival in a part of Toledo that had basically been in hibernation for decades. Bottom line: get yourself to Avestruz Tapas & Tequila before you start hearing everyone else talk about how they went before it got cool. You've been warned.
