I'm doing some consulting on this side of town for a few weeks and I'm convinced that I'm going to die of malnutrition in the process. There is a tragic dearth of good eateries in the area! Trying to find this place is kinda' like playing "Where's Waldo", but if you do, you'll be VERY happy! (It's located at the back of The State Farmer's Market) The place was packed to the brim and the line was nearly out the door, but again, given the quality of the other local options, I ABSOLUTELY understand and didn't mind the wait. The food was very fresh (As is should be, since it shares space with The State Farmer's Market), but that's not something that I would automatically assume, or write off as a "gimme" just because of proximity. The food was also very good and there is a Juice/Smoothie Bar located right on the premises. If given the option, I would swap out lettuce for a more robust green at ANY and ALL TIMES and spinach is available to substitute for lettuce. There are a host of toppings like at a Willy's, Moe's or Chipotle and the end result is mostly better. What more could a deprived Vegetarian ask for!? =) read more

This WAS my favorite go to meal for lunch since I've been working on the farmers market for the last 2 decades! Today I stopped by for lunch, ordered tha plate bowl like I always have. First off, the plan chips that were always included in the meal are now $2.65 added to your meal and the meal itself is being made a lot smaller. So for more than $2 more you get less food. I have had their HUGE Burritos, tasty soft shell tacos, the biggest bowl of nachos I ever had and several of their refreshing Freshly prepared juices and fruit water. And let me just tell you that the damn Juices are enough of a reason to stop here daily. They serve breakfast but I have only been during lunch. It's usually crowded so either grab an open Table/seat and let someone else order for you, or be prepared to take your food with you because the place is rather small. Even my girlfriend who has a heat tolerance a few thousand "Scoville" units below mine, thought it was the star! (And she even asked the owner if the spicy salsa was for sale as a separate item- for now it's not ~ there is always hope!) I had the grilled chicken burrito (the size was more like the full burro) and it was obvious that everything that I selected was wonderfully fresh right from the market - and at $6.50 was a steal. My girlfriend had the grilled chicken quesadilla. Another winner! Stuffed with handfuls of cheese and chicken then grilled - then it was opened to have all of the other goodies that one could desire. Really it was a flat burrito when it was fully stuffed. While I mostly just drive through the Forrest Park area with no thoughts of stopping (other then the airport)- this one is worthy of a detour if I'm in the area. The only reason that they are not five stars is that it's obvious that the tortillas are not made on the premises. Don't let that stop you- it is by far better than any of the chain alternatives. I love this little place! It's not big inside, but you can get your food to go or sit in one of the outside sittings.This is a great alternative to Chipotle if you want to save a couple of dollars. The food is just as fresh tasting as Chipotle with a more authentic Mexican flavor. You can taste all the ingredients unlike Moe's Southwest Grill (which I tend to like) where all the ingredients are blended in a uniform flavor. I went there several times already and loved their nachos though the chips are not the freshest or best chips, but that's one of the few weakness of this place. But in the nacho the overall flavor covers for the sub-par chip. I tasted the chicken, ground beef, and carnita meats. I love the chicken the most with the ground beef close behind. Their chicken quesadilla tasted delicious. I will try their steak in the future. The salsa bar had a few selections of sauce that are good and spicy. The only flavor I didn't really like was the orange sauce which I forgot what it was. But do try the variety of salsa at the bar because it makes the food taste even better. I also had one of their smoothies which was a mango, strawberry, & pineapple. It was fresh tasting. Recently I tasted the Horchata which is a Mexican rice drink. If you ever had rice pudding, it tasted similarly with a cinnamon flavor. It was very refreshing, but it's not a drink I will order often because I am not really a fan of the taste. I mean I cannot rave about the fish tacos enough some of the best I've had. The fish tasted fresh and nicely crisped. The flavors of the seasoning, slaw, and aoili spicy mayo type of thing going on all blended in perfectly. The meals all come with chips and you can add a cup of queso on for under a dollar (which I do always because chips and dip are my weakness) but they also have a salsa bar. My son and I stopped for lunch. The food here is as close as you are going to get to authentic in the States. I've never had authentic salsas. All them were delicious and I don't typically like hot things. I ordered chicken nachos from the lunch menu for $6.50 which I made more like a taco salad. I also got guacamole for an additional $ 0.75 and yes it was worth it. The guacamole made the one I make taste like crap. The chicken was also seasoned very well. I'm not sure what they used but it was really good. My son ordered the kids quesadilla with steak for $3.95. They also give tortillas with each meal for the salsa bar. My son said his food was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed mine as well. They open at 8 a.m. and close at 3 p.m. and stay packed, so I recommend going early. Their burritos are super economical $6-7 depending on the meat you get. - The steak burrito has so many options... black or pinto beans, Mexican or white rice, peppers, cheese, salsas, guacamole for extra$. - The horchata has a cinnamon taste to it, something I'm not used to but it certainly hit the spot. - They offer a plethora of salsa at the side station and it goes well with the chips. It could use some labels as I have no idea how spicy each one is. - There are an assortment of tables throughout the restaurant and during the lunch hour, it's not too busy.
