Food is good, the location is awesome, and the people that work here are all very nice and accommodating. We come here all the time!

Don Chato is a new addition to Leona Valley. The service was good, and the food overall was solid. The salsa, though--excellent! Some of the dishes were a bit on the bland side, but still enjoyable. I ordered guacamole, but it never came--apparently they had to make it fresh, lol. That said, I'm sure the community is happy to have another Mexican restaurant open in that same spot. I hope they do well!

    Michilad also very tasty!

The place is always so clean and proudly display their A rating right by the door. They've got about eight styles of meats to choose from and the prices for the tacos are SO affordable. They also offer a full menu of classic Mexican plates which include rice and beans... they also have menudo and lots of other stuff. If you're dining in be sure to get the complimentary chips and salsa while you wait. The table salsa is to die for... it is superb. The owner is the nicest person you'll ever meet as is her whole staff. Highly recommended.... go try it! Mike Piccirillo West Palmdale/Quartz Hill

There was one cashier on the phone and two other girls serving tables, so it took a minute before we could place our order. It's a small, casual spot with people constantly coming in and out. I ordered a sopes plate with a taco de tripas. The sopes themselves were actually really good, but unfortunately my rice and beans were cold, so I didn't eat them. The tripas were overcooked. So crunchy they felt like eating popcorn, which was disappointing. My husband ordered a torta de carnitas and a taco al pastor. The al pastor marinade was pretty mediocre, nothing special, and the torta was just okay. We also ordered a burrito with asada and rice only and again, the rice came out cold while the meat was hot. They did bring us chips and salsa, and the red spicy salsa was actually good, probably the best part of the meal. Overall, this place is okay but very mediocre. With how expensive eating out is these days, I'm really picky about where I spend my money, and this didn't feel worth it. There are definitely better, Mexican spots in Lancaster that I'd rather go to. I probably won't be coming back.

This place isn't just a quick stop, it's a tradition for us. I literally drive an hour just to get these tacos, and they are always worth it. The food never misses -- incredible flavor, consistent quality, and you can taste the love every single time. Today I switched it up and got a burrito... and WOW. So good. Like, sit-in-your-car-and-savor-it good. On top of the food, the service is amazing. Everyone is super nice, genuinely friendly, and they always call me "sweetie" on the phone -- which just makes the whole experience feel warm and personal. This is the kind of spot you keep coming back to for years: comfort food, hometown vibes, great people, and seriously good eats. If you're thinking about stopping by, do it. And if you're debating the drive... trust me, it's worth every mile.

The food quality is spectacular! I always get the Baracoa Cubano sandwich and it never disappoints. The ingredients are fresh and organic with each dish I've ordered. Since I have allergies to ingredients used to preserve frozen food, it's always been so hard finding a restaurant with a menu that doesn't cause me issues--and Baracoa has never compromised with their ingredients! The organic quality of their food is something you'll taste on your first bite. And finally--the service is impeccable and I have yet to see such excellent hospitality at any restaurant I've visited, even in Los Angeles! The waiters are always kind, attentive, and energetic with their behavior and service. It's very easy to tell they love the work they do and it shows in their work ethic. In addition to that, the managers are always making sure we're having an excellent night and have transformed it to a level of service we've never seen! My parents and I went a week ago and talked to Daniel the Manager about how much we missed a Piña Colada from a closed restaurant which would make it in the pineapple itself--and he said if we promised to be there in a week he's make it himself. We came on Friday, and the joy that my family felt was palpable when Daniel came out with the drinks we've wished for years now since that restaurant closed! Honestly, I've never heard of someone caring for their guests so much to do that--truly everyone should visit this establishment and experience true fine dining. I don't think I'll ever eat anywhere else for a special occasion ever again.

All of their empanadas are great and you can get just one or a bunch. We often get some to take home. The Papas Rellenas is so good and so nicely priced. It is two mashed potato balls stuffed with Cuban picadillo, then breaded and fried to perfection. I love potatoes so I love to get this. We also take these home. They heat up so well. The service is great and they are very friendly. Parking is easy and there is not usually a wait. I am not sure if they take reservations, so call them and check. Upon entering, we were directed to the side with a large L-shaped comfortable leather couch to wait for seating. After waiting approximately 10 minutes, we were seated. It was the fastest service I have ever seen in terms of getting our drink orders, getting salsa and chips, getting our drinks, and getting our main course. Two salsas were provided complimentary. One was a nice slightly sweet flavor and so mild as to be considered not spicy. The other was what we tend to call a "builder." It seemed mild in spice level but just kept inching along in burning sensation. Not very spicy but did build so more surprising. The chips were quite inconsistent in texture from thin and crispy to stale and bland. We had ordered a soda and an iced tea and my husband joked that the sizable mugs were akin to us drinking liters of beverage. Both entrees ordered came with the option of iceberg lettuce salad or meatball soup. We both opted for the soup. The meatball soup was a watery tomato-flavored soup with onions, celery and carrots with 2 medium-sized meatballs. The meatballs had a good texture in terms of density. It was a nice flavor. We didn't have to wait long for our entrees to present. Our eyes popped out of our heads when we saw the immense portions. The entire elongated plate was piled with food. We knew that part of the entrees, if not most of it, was definitely coming home in to-go boxes. My husband ordered the carnitas plate which included sides of rice, beans and a semi-pico de gallo-ish salad. I ordered the single portion of steak fajitas with flour tortilla which included the sides of rice, beans, and a surprisingly equal size portion of guacamole as the other sides. Although the portion sizes were significant, the flavors had us more reserved in response. The carnitas was dry and slightly overcooked. The sides of rice and the beans were a bit bland. The fajitas had small portions of vegetables with it and was doused in a tomato-paste sauce. I would compare it to a thickened fajita tomato-soup. The overwhelmingly tomato paste flavor was a bit too salty and I couldn't taste the steak or the vegetables at all. I ate one bite and couldn't eat any more of it. The guacamole was a tad sour and my husband thought that something was spoiled in it. I found some bites of the guacamole as acceptable and some bites were sour. The redeeming part of my entree was the flour tortilla. It was light and tasty with a nice consistency closer to that of a crepe. Although the service was impeccable and portions were immense, we would not patron the restaurant again. Visit again: NO
