I would recommend going for the weekday lunch special which is $8 and includes a bento box (protein choice of chicken/pork/beef +$2), miso soup, and pop. Note that recently the pop has been replaced by "free jasmine tea", which is what they normally served anyways even with the pop. It was a better deal when the pop was included! Service is a little slow as they are normally short staffed. For the lunch special, they automatically add a service charge on the bill. This was the first time I left a Korean bbq restaurant and I was still hungry. Banchan was also stupidly short of remotely passable. There are Korean Grill locations all over Toronto, but I guess Covid hit this AYCE joint pretty bad because now there are only 4 locations left. This location at John and Queen has been standing ever since I was in uni, many many many years ago. It looks like there's a fresh coat of paint, but no drastic renos have been done in the last decade. But you don't come here for the decor or for a fine dining experience - this is Korean grill, where you get your meat sweats on! We drove downtown on a Sunday just as the Jays game was about to begin. Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 young kids) were seated at a table for 6 with 2 grills at our disposable. Sunday pricing is $21.99 for adults, $11.99 for kids ages 4-11. The lunch menu is limited, but it was enough for us. There's calamari rings, fish (I want to say basa/white fish), beef, pork, chicken, rice, beef broth, pickled radish, kimchee (not that good), tofu (I really like this one), bean sprouts, spicy bean sprouts (my hubby's favourite). They do have an all day menu at a higher price point that includes more items like beef ribs, sausage, salmon, lamb, shrimp, mussel, lettuce, mushroom and pineapple (adult $35.99 Fri-Sun). The meats are seasoned well (you can also dip the meat in a sweet soya sauce that they have at each table) and are sliced super thin to cut down on the cooking time. The beef and pork slices cook within minutes. The chicken was a hit with my fam, it has a slight curry flavour. The rice is hot and fluffy, almost like the Japanese sushi rice. I like the beef broth to wet my palette as I consume copious amounts of meat. I like eating the pickled radish as it cuts the charcoal flavour of the meats. Calamari can be a bit chewy if you over cook it. The white fish is very nice, but make sure your cook it on a clean surface as it does tend to stick to the grill. Today the fish fillets were a nice big and thick cut, only 2 pieces can fit in the square tray that the food is served in. Overall, my family had a fun time cooking their own food. I've never had a bad meal here. Korean Grill House is always my first stop when visiting Toronto from San Francisco. The lunch options are slightly different from dinner. The AYCE options are varied, the meat cuts are decent and I always feel like I get great value for what I pay for. On the other hand, I do wish their menu had more beer options: they do have Sapporo, which is my go-to. Pitcher sizes are available as well. The waiters are always polite and helpful; grill changes are always on-request so don't hesitate to ask. The ambiance is not much to write home about, I do appreciate that it's not super packed, at least not the times that I've gone in with my partner. Also, free ice cream scoop after dinner! I called for a reservation at 530 pm and was told none was needed. Just walk in. So we proceeded to head there and there was a lineup at 530. When we got to the front of the line after about 10 minutes I was told that at he was serving the people with a reservation first.... Lol. I told him I wanted to make one but was told not to... Anyways we get seated after another 10 min wait near the window and quickly given directions on how to order. The Korean menu is small, a few meats and Veggies and a few set dishes. The meats come preseasoned and they give you a soy sauce bottle. We ordered 2 of everything on the menu, portions were decent so don't go order crazy like other AYCE places. The pickled radish was good, Kim Chee was not, potatoes were spicy and not good, bean sprouts weren't fresh. Beef and short rib were a little salty but flavourful. The chicken was probably the best dish by far. Was not impressed with the pork. When we got the bill for two people, it was 13% service charge and two charges of HST 5% and 3% on top. This is the second time I have been here. The first time was way before COVID. It was very busy when I went to dinner with my friend but we got seated right away since it was just us 2 and a table for 2 freed up as soon as we got there. There are more seatings upstairs I believe. It is all you can eat but the menu is very very limited and it is just regular bbq, not Korean bbq. I remember it having more selections pre COVID but I could be wrong. There wasn't much choice if you want sauce. I wanted the red pepper paste but they only had red chili oil so I used that. Dinner is $23.99/person for Monday - Thursday and $24.99/person for Friday - Sundays. Lunch is $6 cheaper but they don't have the beef ribs, sausage, ox liver and salmon. The only add-ons I have gotten was the vegetable add-on. It's definitely worth it to cleanse the palette from the taste and texture of the grilled meats with some vegetables. Each person (if you're with a group) has to order the vegetable add-on. Service: The restaurant was busy so its imperative that you wave someone down to the your order, drink refills and grill changes. The food does come fairly fast after you've ordered it. After a long flight back to Toronto, a flat tire on the way back from the airport and that's enough to stop me from cooking (lol cooking) So me and my girlfriend decided to check this place out after remembering how good it looked during a emergency post bar bathroom trip and it did not disappoint! The concept is you get your own little fire pit in the middle of the table to cook your food in (I guess I did cook, huh) and then it's all you can eat on meats, fish, veg and rice. I dined at this Korean restaurant into the late evening. It was not that busy. It is located on the busy Queen Street West strip. There were lots of empty seats during my visit. The overall décor was what you would expect at any Asian restaurant. Lighting was too poor. Washroom was in the basement which is typical. Overall service was alright and could have been alittle faster given the empty seats in the restaurant. The prices were comparable to any downtown Asian restaurant. You also have the choice of cooking your meats at the table. There is a special to have refills of Coca Cola which is almost the same price for a regular can of coke. Thanks to this restaurant for giving us refills at the price of a can of coke. It was appreciated. Entrée: Chicken Bibimbap - spicy level *Two large spring rolls with excellent dipping sauce. It was piping hot since they had to defrost it. It consisted of the regular suspects of noodles, carrots etc. *Lots of corn *Brown rice fried rice with some green and sauces. It was alittle bland but came very piping hot. *Pieces of chicken- too little pieces for my liking. If you ask them to change the stove they will do it right away. Try to eat the meat with radish or kimchi if you start to feel sick from the oil. Not my number one choice for bbq but I will love to come back here because the price is pretty good. I don't know if you notice but the second round you order, the meat will be saltier than the first one. It makes you want to drink more and get full quick. Although the place was getting pack, we (group of 7 people) were able to be seated right away. The workers were very nice, and our food came out pretty quick except for the pork bone stew. Despite the food portion being quite generous and the price being moderately fair, the food was just not tasty or good... the bulgogi and kalbi for bbq lacked seasoning, the pork belly was very chewy, their beef sizzling plate with rice was a little too peppery and their 'bibimbap' lacked veggies and sauce. On top of that, their sauces were limited to chilli oil and diluted soy sauce. So, while the service is good, the food is a hard pass. I came for a work outing and was quite happy with experience. It's all you can eat, I know there are places with much higher quality food, but this place was wonderful bang for the buck. We got the regular combo with lamb and shrimp. I recommend not getting the lamb and shrimp combo, since the lamb was just meh compared to their other proteins and the shrimp was quite bad quality. My favorite is the chicken and beef short ribs. You can taste the meat tenderizer and MSG on the food, but I didn't mind it. Their side dishes were nice as well, I love the tofu and bean sprouts. Service was prompt and friendly, but they could use some extra servers. Our taller people found the seats quite right and uncomfortable, but seems too be limited to big tables only. Really disappointed. They used to be the original and my faves. But now the meat just is not fresh, the pricing is so expensive compared to the quality. The meat is still marinated in the same flavours as before which taste good but the cleanliness of this restaurant is also very bad. Service is difficult to deal with as well. You have to request same items or drinks 10x with sometimes even the same waiter before they bring it. Which could be half the duration of time you are cooking / eating. I wasn't expecting a traditional Korean Barbecue experience, but... No Korean beer. We went for lunch all you can eat, but apparently that doesn't include lettuce. Had I been informed that the difference between the all day price and the lunch price was not just the fewer meat selections, but also not lettuce, I would have ordered the all day price. Now when I requested lettuce, the waiter informed me that there was a "vegetable selection" I could order which included lettuce, onions (standard and expected)...mushrooms (okay) and pineapple slices (what?!?). 9 dollars. Fine. What I was presented with was 6 small inner Romaine leaves and a couple outer leaves, onions, mushrooms and 4 large slices of pineapple. Later in the meal when I asked for more lettuce, I was informed I would have to pay another $9! Seriously, for lettuce...a typical and traditional part of this type of meal. This decision came from the manager. The meat was fine, the rice was cold and dry, the side dishes were scanty and uninspiring. I left behind the pile of pineapple. This restaurant is designed for the tourist who doesn't have experience with Korean food and wants something not too scary. It doesn't conform to the traditional Korean hospitality where the table is covered in dishes and the owners are urging you to eat more. Korean grandmothers are spinning in their graves. read more

The first time I came here was twelve years ago when my friends surprised me with a birthday cake with sparklers which activated the fire alarm. Firetrucks came and we were so scared that we would have to pay. They did ask for ID, and our only form of ID was our TTC student passes. Fortunately, we never had to pay for the false fire alarm. I came again recently for a friends birthday. We each ordered the all you can eat meat with liver, salmon, ribs, beef, fish fillet, chicken, and pork. The beef shank was not the best cut, but it was very well marinated. The other meat dishes were ok. The salmon was bland, and I would recommend you dip it or cook it with the table sauce. The side dishes (bean sprouts, tofu, spicy bean sprouts) were tasteless and I stopped myself at half a side dish. I would recommend this place if you are a big carnivore and have a big appetite. Definitely avoid if you're vegetarian and choose the vegetarian pho place across the street. Remember to ask for your grill to be changed after it starts getting charred. It seemed like the best thing ever at the time ...and then I got interested to the likes of authentic Korean or japanese bbq, and this restaurant is just not the same anymore. They have a basic variety of meats from years ago like short ribs, beef, pork, and seafood, but the dishes looked so sad when they arrived because of how thinly sliced they were. The strong marinated flavour was still there so I did appreciate the flavour and of course the all you can eat aspect. I also didn't realize how much I missed that tangy plum juice that goes so well with korean bbq. Service was average and they were quick to change the grill when asked. I don't recommend getting any of the fish, it sticks to the grill like crazy which ends up having you to change it often because the meat burns right on to it. Overall, good nostalgic memories here, but I rather pay a little extra for better quality meat and experience at other places. As a family we are carnivores and happy to order 2 kinds of beef including kalbi, chicken, fish, shrimp, pork bellies, and lamb, plus a $3.00 veggie grill of pineapple slices, mushrooms, onions, cucumbers on a bed of lettuce. We also ordered 2 pitchers of ice water and lime soda to keep us hydrated. This came with the usual little dishes of bean sprouts, kimchee, daikon radish, celery and soy sauce and sesame seeds for dipping. They are now also offering top your own waffles as a dessert offering. However we 3 ladies stuffed ourselves so much on grilled meats that we didn't have room for dessert.
