The service was good for the lunch hour. The chips salsa and cheese dip was very good. The steak chimichanga lacked flavor and was not cooked enough very doughy. My husband had the grilled chicken burrito supreme and had no flavor and they put the lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream on top. This was our first time trying this place because friends said it was good. Not sure what they were thinking. We drive all the way from the Westbank to Don Jose's! Well worth the drive & the best Mexican restaurant we've had in LA. The service is always welcoming and the food fills our Mexican cravings. Favorite dishes are the Steak Fajitas, Carne Asada & Chicken Texan Chimichanga. Whenever we order the Texan chimichanga we usually get the queso on the side instead of on top of the chimichanga so that the chimichanga won't get soggy. Their margaritas and top shelf's are top notch. Servings are also generous compared to other Mexican restaurants. Great atmosphere. Pleasant decor and staff. Quick service, food was tasty and hot. My only disappointment was the Ice Cream Leche. I'm pretty sure it was refrozen, as there were large ice crystals in it. That's a bit of a no-no in catering as it suggests the food was allowed to defrost at room temperature for an extended period of time. This place was pretty packed for lunch on a Thursday! Service is super friendly and they definitely don't rush you. I had a cheese enchilada in the lobster lettuce tacos. The cheese and Shalott it was delicious. The lobster tacos has really flavorful big chunks of lobster but was overpowered by a ton of tomatoes! Was craving some Mexican food and the last time I checked this place out the atmosphere was great, food was on point, and service was amazing so I figured we would come back. Walked in on a Tuesday night around 8:45. Place seemed to be very empty, they had about 3 tables occupied. We weren't starving so we opted to split some chicken nachos , some queso and then a cup of the chicken tortilla soup because who doesn't love chicken tortilla soup at Mexican restaurants!?! Our waiter was very nice, attentive. He took our order, brought the cheese and our drinks out promptly . Then he brought out the soup and nachos and I seriously wish he would've told us they ran out of food. The chicken tortilla had no flavor. I just have never had such terrible soup in my life ! The avocados even tasted funny! How do you mess up tortilla soup! Then the chicken nachos were horrendous. It tasted like the chicken came from a can. They were bland and honestly I had about 3 bites because I wanted to pretend that this wasn't happening but I just couldn't eat anymore. The best thing was the cheese and it lacked flavor. I just don't know when this place went downhill because they used to be so good. It sucks because I live so close but I will never be back. This place is always packed to the gills because it is, in my opinion, the best Mexican food in the New Orleans area. The enchiladas are EXCELLENT and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Picked up our Togo food today with a terrible experience. We ordered fajitas for 2 and it was enough steak to feed maybe one person. When I asked for extra chips and salsa the bartender charged me extra and never gave me the salsa. Yet when you sit in you get all the chips and salsa you want. The bag of chips they give you holds 15 chips at most. So overpriced for what we received. We used to go here all the time, but we will be going back to traveling the extra mile to Casa Garcia. I think the atmosphere is decent. Their salsa is good. Has good flavor. There fajitas are like chicken nuggets. Their tortillas are not authentic. Their tortilla soup is not too flavorful. Their shrimp appetizer, tasted like it was cooked over a rubber tire. The waitress checked on us once after she brought our food. Service is okay. Not great. Over all, my rating is a 40/100. I wouldn't go back. Oh! And seems like they like their restaurant like they like the suns atmosphere, HOT. They needed to turn on the AC! Would go back. Once is good enough for me. By far the best Mexican grill in the area. Let's start by saying that the location couldn't be any better; corner of Veterans and Williams, so close to the airport! Friendly staff all around. The girl at the host stand was very professional, she suggested we wait at the bar since they had to arrange tables to accommodate our party. My job called in a to-go order. Two tacos, bean and cheese dip, taquitos, guacamole and chili. When my coworker picked up the order the chili was missing. They gave her an extra to make up for it. Well they didn't put the lids on all the way and the chili spilled everywhere. She asked them to make it over again. They just reboxed it all. An hour later she's finally back to work with our lunch. I finally tried this new place out last night.. it was really good. I know the place has been a million different restaurant, but believe it or not, I have never been in there before. I really liked the atmosphere and the bar was great. I ordered the Fajita Burrito and it was great.. I loved that everyone at the table got their own little bottle of salsa and the margaritas were great.
