I would not recommend this restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the service was extremely slow and the staff seemed uninterested and moved at a very relaxed pace despite the restaurant not being overly busy. The food took a very long time to come out, and when it finally arrived, it was disappointing. The chips were cold, the queso tasted like warmed-up Tostitos cheese dip rather than homemade queso, and the margaritas were mostly ice with very little flavor. Overall, the food quality, service, and wait times did not meet expectations. There are many better Mexican restaurants in the area, and unfortunately I would not return. read more

Can't say I was impressed with any part of our experience. We had found a website that had all the food, the address and even a phone number that took us directly to the restaurant. All the prices were there also, so called in an order. Upon pickup, found all the prices were elevated. When asked about it and showing him the website, the owner only said that was not his website. We took our order home only to find the food was bland, tasted like beans from a can and little flavor in the meat. Not really sure how this place stays open. Wasn't really sure what to expect when I first came in but I was pleasantly surprised. All the employees were really nice and the service was great. After being seated, they brought out complimentary chips and salsa (average tasting, wish the salsa was spicier but can't complain) and water while we looked over the menu. I was kind of wary but decided to order the Chile Relleno plate. You get a choice between flour and corn tortillas - I went with the flour. The wait for the food was reasonable and it tasted better than I expected. The portions were generous and they offered to refill the chips and bring more salsa if needed. Excellent, consistent food, wonderful location, and cheerful friendly service. Our family has frequented this restaurant for years. The food is classic Mexican, and relatively inexpensive. The menu on Yelp is completely wrong - Don Juan's says that someone else entered it and they have not been able to update it! Expect classic dishes served with rice & beans, red and green chili to add to meals or smother burritos, well priced children's meals (about $6) and a few special options. They have warm homemade chips and usually fresh guacamole - but ask. Note the health rating is higher than most places in town. We have always had great service, but do check your take out and make sure you have all of your items. They do a lot of take out, and it may be far busier than you think. I'm giving them a 5 even though they are not a luxury restaurant - for years of being there for this Mexican-food living family!! Visited this place on a recommendation. Overall not too bad. Nothing exceptional that I haven't had before, but certainly a place you could frequent if you are all about mexican flavor. The chips, salsa and queso were all very good. The flavor and spice were on par. I had the steak and chicken fajitas, which I felt were a bit on the bland side. They were good but the sauce was a bit tomato tasting and could have had more flavor or spice, but it wasn't something that ruined the meal or anything. Who knows, could have just been an off day for the chef. Prices were very reasonable, such as a carne asada taco for 6$. This would be a great lunch spot in downtown Casper. Food is good, but dining in is also about the service and experience. Which were terrible. I ordered 3 street tacos, consisting of 2 al pastor and 1 carne asada. When the waitress put the plate down in front of me, I told her that it was wrong, she asked what I ordered I told her 3 tacos 2 are suppose to be al pastor 1 carne asada. The plate contained 4 tacos 1 carne asada 3 Barbacoa tacos. I tried to give her the plate back so they could remake the plate and the waitress said don't worry about it they just throw it away and to which I thought she would bring me the correct order. I felt I waited long enough and asked the waitress if the plate was coming out. She then told me that I did get 3 al pastor tacos. I told her I got 3 Barbacoa tacos and I ordered al pastor. She then went back and forth arguing with me about how al pastor is orange, and I got the orange meat. I told her please don't charge me for what I didn't order and as she was walking away she told me I shouldn't have eaten them then. Waitresses should be able to identify the types of food they bring out and not argue with guests. Very disappointed. You will find a photo of the two different types of meat and my bill. This is incredible food. Authentic food from the Michoacán region with very little Americanized influence. During the blizzard that swept through Casper recently, I was hungry and didn't have much to cook with in my house. So I took a stroll in the snow down 2nd street looking for an open restaurant. The only place open was Don Juan's. I've passed by this establishment hundreds of times intending to stop in someday, but never getting around to it. Well due to the snow, the rest of the restaurants left me with no other choice. Don Juan's it was. After my evening dinner, I am thinking to myself, why didn't I stop in sooner. The food was great! I ordered steak quesadilla for an appetizer, and had the steak fajitas for my entree. The portions were huge enough for two. The flavor was bomb diggity! The whole place was clean and well kept. Parking would probably be an issue on a busy Friday night as there is only a few spaces in front. You may have to park a block or so away if there's no spots in front. Coming from so cal, this place is the closest to a Mexican joint your going to get in Casper. I went in homesick for some real Mexican food. This place filled that need in an instant. They have all the non-typical foods/meats lengua, and about 3 other meats I can't remember how to spell. The place is run by a very nice family. I asked them "what's the most authentic thing you make? I'm from SoCal and I'm craving real Mexican food" the mother of the restaurant made a real plate of slow pork with green chile and home made tortillas, and a couple of shots of tequila made for the perfect late dinner. I'd say on the whole they season everything much better than Guadalajara which is the swinging dick here in town, although their fryed ice cream is not as monolithic. It was my first time at don juans and I ordered the menudo and a burrito the staff was very friendly and the food was great I liked that the menudo had a spicy taste to it I also like that there was an option of Posole or menudo the burrito was good and so were the chips and salsa I couldn't ask for any better and i do recommend it to others if your looking for Mexican food another customer ordered me two coronas on him so that was just a plus. If I could give this place zero stars I would. One star is generous. The chips were old and stale. The salsa tasted like it came from a jar. The margarita had no tequila it. I ordered a relleno, it was super greasy and bland. My friend ordered a torta which was dry and bland. My torta was dry and bland as well. The beans tasted like they came from a can. I ordered pozole and my friend ordered menudo, however the soup never arrived even after we asked our waitress repeatedly. FInally we decided to take our check and we left. We drove down the road to Taco John's instead. The service was absolutely horrible. The waitress basically ignored us the whole time. When we indicated we were not happy with the meal, no attempt was made to rectify the situation. How this place has so many good reviews is beyond me.
