    Ground beef empanada

I've been wanting to try this place after seeing it mentioned so often. The surroundings are nothing fancy, but the food and friendly service are so worth it. Only open on Saturday and Sunday for now, we arrived about 11:30 and were the first ones there. Photos on the wall help to give you an idea of what the sandwiches look like. We ordered the Lomo saltado (beef tenderloin) as well as the lechon (pork roast) sandwiches. They were each so tender and flavorful! Also had fried sweet potato, and empanadas. Prices were very reasonable for the portions. Please visit this local business and support them. It was truly delicious!

What a GEM!! When it comes to Peruvian food this place nailed it, the ingredients are fresh. Food is made to order, prepared in front of you (open kitchen) resulting in the most delicious Peruvian food. For years I've searched for Peruvian that could match the real thing here in Indy and now I've found it! So excited to share this place with you all, a must try if you enjoy tasty lime marinated seafood and traditional Peruvian lomo saltado (beef strips stir fried with French fries and tomatoes in au jus served with white rice). Traditional Peruvian beer, non alcoholic drinks, appetizers, tamales, and sandwiches offered as well. Only open on the weekends. Take out available. Service top notch. Very casual environment, no need to dress up but do come hungry.

I've been looking at reviews for this place thinking "What on earth could be so special about sandwiches? " Well, asked and answered. I finally made my way in here and I am hooked. I still don't know why these sandwiches are so freaking good - they just are. I started out with the empanada. To my surprise it had powdered sugar on my beef empanada. I was suspicious... however; one bite and my worries were gone. So much savory beefy filling, so yummy. The powdered sugar just adds a bit of interest to it, but it does not take away from the flavor. Also to my surprise I found out that there are raisins in it. Now I do not usually enjoy meat with fruits of any kind, but this works surprisingly well. I will definitely order an empanada again on my next visit. Be careful though, these are served so fresh, you may want to bite into it carefully, I almost burned my mouth on it. For my sandwich I ordered the Asado, pot roast. OMG, what a delicious sloppy mess this is. Thankfully they brought lots of napkins. Slices upon slices of super tender meat swimming in lovely au jus and those marinated onions on top... Bite into one side, the toppings swell out the other side, the juices dripping, dang this is good. It's not spicy but definitely not bland, loads of taste on this one. And I suggest dipping the bun into the juice drippings before each bite, you won't regret it. I also had a bite of the Pollo Saltado, I might have that next time... oh wait , then I don't have room for the Asado, maybe both? Decisions, decisions. My guests also all enjoyed their sandwiches and every one of them exclaimed that this is a true find and that they will be back for more.

Everything was delicious! Highly recommend the anticuchos and lomo saltado! Both have a good smoky flavor to them. They didn't have tallarín saltado when I went but I'll just have to come back for it. We also tried the ceviche which was good but I craved a little more acidity to it! Also the chicha morada is a must have! Delicious drink :)

Delicious, what a great find on the outskirts of Indianapolis. The place looked like a converted auto shop possibly. The table we were sitting at was in the garage area, as there was a garage door up leading to the outside seating area. The small kitchen was just in a corner of the restaurant, a small space but cooking up big flavors. We ordered yuca fries, empanada, chicharron sampler, asado sandwich and milanesa de pollo. The favorite was the chicharron sampler- tender pieces of pork belly layed atop a plantain and topped with the Peruvian salsa- marinated red onions on top. The yuca fries came out hot and fresh to order. The asado sandwich was just okay, supposed to be like a Peruvian pot roast, the meat was a bit too dry for my taste. The empanada filling has a slightly sweet taste to it with raisins with the meat. The service was great as well, super attentive.

There's like two or three Peruvian restaurants in the Indianapolis area and this one was the one I haven't visited! It's a little bit far from downtown and kind of hidden but Google maps will do the job. Plenty of spots for parking once you get there. Anyway, went a week ago to this place a little bit dark inside they need better illumination but their cuisine it's so good. I had chicha morada which is a juice made out of corn very refreshing! Then we had a breakfast which includes a tamale, deep fried sweet potatoes and pork ask for more bread and make a sandwich with all these! I know, sounds weird but the taste is pretty good. In addition we had this ceviche which is a very juicy ceviche with corn toasted kernels an interesting combination worth trying! I only wish this restaurant was closer to downtown or in broadripple area!

I'm so happy we stopped by this amazing sandwich shop! We absolutely loved the food. The sandwiches were stellar, the beef heart was delicious and the yuca fries were crisp and wonderful in the dipping sauce provided. The chicha Morada is delicious too! We will definitely be back! **Update** 1/11/20 Today I had the Don Juan sandwich; breaded steak tenderloin, fried plantains with wonderful sauces on perfect bread! Sooooo delicious! We love this place

The space is big and fun, with a large dining room, an old-school video arcade game, interesting art, and a big screen playing movies, which adds to the laid-back, quirky vibe. It's counter service with clear menu boards on the wall, making ordering easy. I had the cheesy jalapeño grits with bacon and an egg and... my goodness. So incredibly delicious. One friend ordered the same grits but swapped in fried catfish instead of bacon--also a fantastic choice. Our third went with a classic plate with eggs and bacon, and let me tell you, the bacon is thick and plentiful. We ordered a side of fries for the table and there were more than enough to share. Self-serve coffee with all the fixings is a nice touch, and the service was friendly and welcoming. Fun atmosphere, great food, solid portions--definitely will be back.

My husband and I had never been here before and the lady at the counter was less than friendly. She did tell us the menu was on the other wall. My husband got a Diet Coke that came in a can and we both got a classic plate minus the toast. 2 eggs, 2 sausage patties... nothing special including the presentation. The price for each plate was $18 plus a $2 can of coke and a tip they didn't deserve brought our total to a little over $40. The eggs were flavorless and literally had no seasoning. I did appreciate that the sausage patties weren't greasy. That was about the only good thing. The decor looked like they took whatever thrift stores couldn't sell with no particular theme. Funny enough, we went out for breakfast a few days later to a DIFFERENT PLACE and for the SAME PRICE got way more food, better quality food, better presentation, full table service, friendly service, great atmosphere, and an overall wonderful experience. Overall, I would not recommend this place. We left feeling like we got ripped off and I could have made the same thing better at home.

However, as I parked I spied Sleepy Hollow Gourmet Deli & Cafe along with a Jack's Donuts. I was curious. So, I wheeled over and realized they were like conjoined culinary twins. I detoured my plans and decided to hang out at Sleepy Hollow, a delightfully named establishment (though I do wish they'd lean into the decor a bit more) for this Irvington-set restaurant. Jack's does seem to be the dominant force here. There are donuts, bagels, cookies, and even kolaches. The prices are surprisingly affordable. Drinks include hot coffee, iced coffee, lattes, boba energy, and Pepsi products. They do have both sweet and unsweetened iced tea. The menu also includes Choc-ola! The deli menu includes toasted subs (every sub has 1/4-pound of meat and you can go double for an extra price). They use Boar's Head meats. You can get chips and a soft drink to make it a combo. This strip center is always a little hit-and-miss in terms of access, however, with some nearby road construction it seems just a bit slower and I was able to find a spot that improved my accessibility. If you go to the door by the entrance, the curb has a bit of a step to it. If you go to the end of the aisle, there's a smooth and level section to make it all easily work. The interior itself is nicely laid out and easily accessible. The employees were super friendly. They also offer catering. There's a combination of higher-top tables and regular tables. Business was fairly steady, however, I had no issue finding a place to sit. I ended up ordering a chicken salad sandwich that was a healthy size and quite tasty. I grabbed a bag of chips and my usual unsweetened iced tea. Pricing was right about $13. Overall, I was quite pleased and I would easily return. Whether you're seeking donuts or a deli sandwich, Sleepy Hollow (or Jack's) is an ideal place to stop in.

They disappeared fast, came served on paper, and were crispy, hot, and delicious. We ordered the 2 10-piece wings (the biggest order available), including one batch cooked extra crispy. The wings were good, and I especially enjoyed the Fat Dan's hot BBQ sauce over the regular BBQ. I really liked the extra crispy wings. My boys also wanted burgers. We came on a Friday night after a concert looking for good food and drinks. My husband had been here before and really enjoyed the Thai chicken salad wontons, so he wanted me to try it. It looked appealing, but after the first bite I was highly disappointed. The flavor of the chicken salad tasted off, almost like it had been sitting out too long. I usually enjoy Thai-inspired flavors, but this just didn't taste fresh to me at all. The wonton cracker itself was good. The fries were good, and I tried a bite of the mushroom burger my husband ordered. Surprisingly, I actually liked it even though I'm usually not a mushroom person. They didn't have the beer my husband likes on tap, so he ordered an Old Fashioned instead and said it was decent. I tried one of their WildFyre lemonades (the strawberry lemonade) and it was pretty good as well. At $14, the pricing felt fair for the size and atmosphere. On Friday nights they have a live DJ, which gave the place a fun, upbeat vibe without being too overwhelming. We were still able to relax and hold a conversation. Another cool feature is the indoor game area with pinball machines and more, which adds to the overall hangout atmosphere and makes it appealing for different crowds. It also wasn't overly busy when we visited, so service was decent. Even though the food I tried missed the mark for me, I wouldn't completely rule this place out. It still seems like a solid spot to hang out, grab drinks, and I'd be open to trying different menu items next time.
