Great location at the end of Mass Ave near Bottleworks--and pro tip: parking directly in front on the same side of the street is free. The space is big and fun, with a large dining room, an old-school video arcade game, interesting art, and a big screen playing movies, which adds to the laid-back, quirky vibe. It's counter service with clear menu boards on the wall, making ordering easy. I had the cheesy jalapeño grits with bacon and an egg and... my goodness. So incredibly delicious. One friend ordered the same grits but swapped in fried catfish instead of bacon--also a fantastic choice. Our third went with a classic plate with eggs and bacon, and let me tell you, the bacon is thick and plentiful. We ordered a side of fries for the table and there were more than enough to share. Love Handle is in the best neighborhood right on Mass Ave! It's super close to amazing shopping, and the vibe inside is vintage diner with an artsy twist. The food just needed a little fine-tuning to really shine. The catfish seemed to have a beer-battered coating that felt a little soft and held onto some extra moisture instead of having that classic light crunch. I would love a bit more flavor baked right into the waffle and biscuit dough--though the gravy flavor was definitely a win! The price for each plate was $18 plus a $2 can of coke and a tip they didn't deserve brought our total to a little over $40. The eggs were flavorless and literally had no seasoning. I did appreciate that the sausage patties weren't greasy. That was about the only good thing. The decor looked like they took whatever thrift stores couldn't sell with no particular theme. Funny enough, we went out for breakfast a few days later to a DIFFERENT PLACE and for the SAME PRICE got way more food, better quality food, better presentation, full table service, friendly service, great atmosphere, and an overall wonderful experience. The chicken was crunchy and delicious but I would've wished that the gravy had more flavor. It was pretty bland. I added my own salt&pepper but the overall meal would've been better if it had more flavor since the gravy covered everything. My sister ordered waffles and a side of bacon which she said was good as well. She only wished the bacon was fried harder because it was not as crispy especially since it was a thick piece of bacon. It's like a cafeteria style diner you order at the register they have beers and mimosas as well. We got the mimosa bottle which came with a bottle of cava and one small bottle of simply orange juice (for the price and size I feel like we should've gotten two OJ's). I was looking at the menu and really wanted to try the brisket and grits but they didn't have it on the menu. I was contemplating between the sando and the biscuits and gravy. I seen one of the workers bring out what looked like some biscuits and gravy and asked her if thats what it was as I wanted a visual and she totally ignored me and kept walking. I said "I know she heard me talking to her" and the other worker assured me that was the biscuits and gravy. I ended up ordering that and a side of home style fries. The server who ignored my question brought our food out and my friend asked her for some syrup but she just walked away and didn't acknowledge her. She came back with my potatoes and they were so good but the biscuits and gravy were not the best. The gravy was super thick and the biscuits were a little dry. My friend ordered the waffle with pork belly and I tasted the pork belly and it was absolutely amazing, I wish I would've ordered that instead. I tipped 20% and the server never checked on us aside from when she brought the food out and my friend was able to get her attention for some syrup. Very cute place but I probably won't be back. Side note, I hate going somewhere and ordering wine or champagne and they don't have glassware. Plastic cups and bubbly don't go together. read more

There is street parking and there is a garage about a block away. When you walk in, to order you have to go to the front register. The menu is on the wall to the left and it changes weekly, from my understanding. Coffee and water is self serve but they have other drinks in a fridge. I got the spicy chicken sandwich and it was sooo delicious. The chicken piece was huge and i love the jalapenos and spicy sauce. The fries were perfectly crispy, yet soft. All condiments are at the tables and you get a number once you place your order and they will bring it to you. Tables are first come, first serve. Stopped in here for brunch this past Sunday with my husband because we had been wanting to try it out for a while and had mixed feelings. We were greeted right away and looked over the menu a bit before ordering. My husband ordered the country breakfast with chicken (definitely the way to go) and I ordered the cheesy jalapeño grits with bacon. We each got a cup for water and I ordered a coffee, excited because I saw ahead of going that it was self-serve (like at Cafe Patachou where I can get as many coffees as I like without having to wait for our server to come check on us first). However, the self serve coffee excitement was short-lived after seeing that they only offered half and half as creamer (I'm lactose intolerant) and the two coffee carafes were not labeled for what was inside (decaf? medium roast? you'll never know!) and then one was completely empty and never refilled during our visit. The water station also was not ever refilled during our visit, so we were not able to get refills after filling up our cups the first time. It took a couple of tries to find a table we could sit at because you seat yourself, but several had not been cleaned after other guests left and had food and drinks spilled on them. There were definitely enough staff members there to be able to clean them in between customers, so we weren't sure why they were left that way. We ended up sitting in the middle of the room towards the front, across from the clown art wall, which made for interesting conversation as we looked through everything. When the food came out I was impressed with the portions, but I had no flavor whatsoever to my cheesy jalepeno grits. The egg and bacon were good, but not enough to make it a good dish and I would not order it again. And I love savory breakfast and grits in general, so it was a real bummer. My husband's dish was worth the visit though. It was a huge portion size and we honestly would just split it if we came back and ordered it. It was so savory, seasoned perfectly, and juicy. One of the best breakfast dishes I have tried recently! I really debated between 3-4 stars for this, but my dish was a flop, the lack of cleanliness for the seating area, the lackluster self-serve coffee station, and not refilling the beverages ultimately scored a 3 star review for me. We sat there as others got their order. It's a place where you order first then sit and they bring it to you. The people next to us came after us and got their food. After around 26 mins from ordering we went to ask and they seemed to have just forgotten about us. Once they realized they were very nice and apologized for the delay our food came out immediately after, and it tasted really good! A few bites into the fries and I found a hair. I wanted to try the biscuit sliders that were in other Yelp reviews but they were not on the menu. I asked and the clerk said they could make some for us, the sliders are $7 each. The sliders came out in about 12 minutes served on vintage mismatched plates. I loved the sliders. The fried oyster biscuit slider was delicious. The oysters were juicy and had a lot of flavor with a light breading. The biscuits are salty, flaky and very good. There was a sauce on the oysters and melted cheese. The beef brisket biscuit slider was very good. There were two thick slices of tender brisket, melted cheese, a delicious sweet jam on one of their signature biscuits. The meat was slightly fatty, but good. They serve coffee, tea and assorted bottled and canned beverages, including beer. There are a few games around to play while you drink your coffee. We ordered coffee, Biscuits & Gravy and a Chicken Benedict (maybe?). The coffee was great and came with refills. The Biscuits & Gravy was interesting. It was good, but different. The color was a light orangish beige. It had a bit of a kick. The first bite was surprising and gave me pause. The flavor became more nuanced as I continued to eat. Overall, quite good. I'm glad she did as it's counter service and you just walk in and have to go all the way to the back of the restaurant to order. You can't see the menu board until you are at the counter because it's blocked by a drink fridge. The chicken and waffles was tasty and I would get it again. I got the cheesy grits with egg and meat choice. I asked the hostess which meat she would suggest between the fried chicken and brisket and she immediately said the brisket. It was a thick burnt slab of grisly meat. I should have gotten the chicken. The chicken was cornmeal battered and crispy. The cheesy grits were tasty. More in the polenta side of what I'd call grits but yummy none the less. The portions were good sized too. The menu, as crazy as it sounds, was hard to find because a family was in front of us and we could not see that the menu was on the wall closer to counter where you can see the full menu. The menu was your basic brunch menu from b&g, chick & waff to breakfast sammiches. I wanted to try it all but stuck with 1 thing, King Salmon & waffles. There was hair in my food. It was remade pretty quick, a lot quicker than waiting for it the 1st time. Not sure if they even re-prepared it. It came out hot but it was just not good. The salmon still had the skin on it, which is great omega 3 but for taste, the whole waffle tasted like fish skin & grease because the fish was placed on top of the waffle. The fish was flavored with salt but that's all I tasted. It came with a hot honey sauce but was not hot in flavor. My brother got the chicken and waffles and he does not find many things unsatisfactory but this he even said was not tasty. The brisket was smoky, savory, and seasoned perfectly! But as a spicy food lover, I could have used a little more heat in the jalapeno cheddar grits that it came with. While the hot sauces they kept in-house were a great addition, I would have loved to taste a more jalapeno-based spice with this meal. If you're looking for a perfectly fried piece of chicken with heavy seasonings and a very crispy crunch, you may want to pick up their Country Fried Chicken. We had tried this on top of a waffle that tasted very similar to cornbread, and it sparked the idea of eating this smothered in gravy over biscuits.. My one, small, teeniest of tiniest, complaints... This is such a cute place on mass ave. My friend and I went there for brunch. I had read on Yelp that they have some unique menu items and it was true! They have a blackboard and there were many I was interested to try. Now that I think about it, most of them seemed to be very "heavy" for breakfast/brunch. And I ordered a pork belly sandwich because I love pork belly when it's prepared right! However--This sandwich had a thick stuck of pork belly, eggs, cheese and syrup. This combination was way too heavy for brunch I think, although the taste was good, I had a bad heartburn after eating this. Belly had a big chunk of fat which I didn't eat. Love Handle - Pork belly - Delis Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

Love Handle is soulful, colorful, and has so much character and personality. Seriously, if you love color, taking photos, consuming a hefty meal, and you happen to be in Indianapolis, this place is perfect for you. During my visit, the cashier was very genuine, silly, and adorable, which is always a plus. The place is fun, clean, and very creative and whimsical with all sorts of vintage looking decorations - from clown memorabilia, to VHS tapes, to random paintings that look to be created by local artists. The menu was also full of life, but I will say though - if you're getting into the "fit life" and are vegetarian/vegan, this place might not be for you. The food is heavier and looks to be inspired by the South. It kind of reminded me of being in New Orleans and eating that comfort type of soul food. Nonetheless, I would still highly recommend visiting this place, regardless of dietary preference. There are still various drink options and this restaurant is a great place to hang out at, as it is very spacious. When I came, I got the 'Cold Cannon', which is a vegetarian wrap with taters, cabbage balls, hummus, & etc (and it was basically the only vegetarian thing on the menu). It was good, came with a ton of potato chips, and because it was my first day during my week-long sales trip in the midwest, I opted not to eat those, as I was trying to avoid zombie-mode at all costs. 'Love Handle' also has 'Tinker Coffee' products, such as the canned cold brew, which is absolutely delicious. Thanks for charging up my social battery during my first customer meeting here in Indiana, Tinker! Overall, this place is lovely. It's super fun and cute, and it honestly reminds me a lot of Portland, OR. If you're in town, definitely come here!
